Electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna is well known for its low-power consumption, small-size antenna. In this paper, a novel fourth-order music algorithm using a 13-element ESPAR antenna for direction of h-order music algorithm is that it is insensitive to additive Gaussian noise regardless of whether it is white or colored so it can improve the precision of the DOA estimation. By comparing with the conventional algorithm, our proposed algorithm can obtain more than 45dB gain under SNR=10dB, which can obviously show an outstanding performance improvement. Finally, computer simulation results show that the novel algorithm can resolve up to one impinging signal with less than 0.15 degrees under SNR=0dB and provide an estimation with less than 0.6 degrees under SNR=5dB for two impinging signals coming from different angles.

A novel music algorithm for angle of arrival (AOA) estimation is proposed based on processing the covariance matrix of the array output signals. Unlike the conventional music algorithm which is an effective method for AOA estimation but it can only do with incoherent signals, the proposed method can solve the problem of the coherent and related signal that is more practical in an actual communication environment. And we consider the problems of AOA estimation under a multipath environment in this paper. By processing the covariance matrix of the array output signals, the rank of the signals is restored to full rank which can effectively estimate AOA of the incident signals. Simulation results obviously shows better performance of proposed method, compared with convention music algorithm.

Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes a music algorithm based on time domain analytical signals (TAmusic, Time-domain Analysis music). The TAMUISC algorithm first constructs analytical time-domain signal;then the time domain analytical signal covariance matrix;finally the covariance matrix eigenvalue decomposition, the noise subspace estimation results of spatial spectrum. The simulation results show that, TAmusic algorithm in target azimuth change quickly, compared with the conventional music algorithm, need a short observation time, observation has smaller variance.

To reduce the large computation of joint direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization parameters estimation based on electromagnetic vector sensor array, a reduced-dimensional music algorithm with modulus constraint (MC-RDmusic) is proposed. The MC-RDmusic algorithm estimates the DOA and polarization parameters in two separate steps. In step one, DOA parameter is separated from polarization parameters and estimated by music algorithm;in step two, cost function is constructed according to constraint condition and polarization parameters are obtained with closed-form formulas. Compared with traditional music algorithm, MC-RDmusic algorithm avoids the spectrum peak search of DOA and polarization parameters at the same time, greatly improves the operation efficiency. Because of the one-to-one correspondence between DOA angle and polarization parameters, MC-RDmusic algorithm avoids parameters matching problem compared with ESPRIT algorithm. The computer simulation results verify the correctness of MC-RDmusic algorithm, and as well as its high success rate and precision of the angle estimation.

Subsurface imaging techniques have been discussed with music algorithm to locate point reflectors. Generally, a radar signal received by a spatial array must be decorrelate as pre-processing for the music algorithm. Since most of decorrelation techniques are based on a plane wave incidence model, it is difficult to apply the decorrelation technique for the radar targets around the near field of the array. In this report, we introduce a new decorrelation technique with transmitting and receiving array for targets near the array and apply the music algorithm for estimation of the 2D position of the point targets in crosshole tomographic measurement. Simulation results show that this method has much higher resolution and accuracy than the conventional diffraction stack method. Moreover, we discuss the relationship between the S/N ratio and the geometrical separation.

This paper proposes a blind carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation algorithm based on improved music algorithm for the interleaved orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplinks. The main advantages of this method are that it obtains the CFOs of all users simultaneously within only one OFDMA block and has high accuracy due to the application of data reconstruction and the special periodic characteristic of the received signal. Unlike other existing CFO algorithms, this algorithm doesn't need any precondition knowledge of the channel, the training sequence or even pilot signal, therefore it saves frequency band effectively and degrades the computational complexity greatly. Because of estimation quickly it is suitable for the rapid change channel especially. Simulation results show that this algorithm has good performance even under low SNR condition and improves the variance performance a lot.

Angular resolution of real aperture radar is limited by antenna beam width. Because of the constraints of antenna size and other physical factors, it is difficult to obtain high azimuth resolution. In this paper, angular superresolution method in array signal processing is applied to scanning antenna model, and an extension and improvement of the well-known Multiple Signal Classification (music) algorithm is proposed when a real beam scanning antenna is used. Different from the classical music algorithm, the new method is realized in the framework of beamforming, which is not based on subspace decomposition and the number of sources is hence not required for direction finding. This enables us to avoid performance deterioration caused by incorrect source number estimation. To verify the theoretical analysis, computer simulations are implemented and comparisons with other algorithms are made.

In array signal processing, one is often interested in simultaneously estimating the directions and frequencies of uncorrelated narrow-band radiating sources having different center frequencies. In this paper we present a new high-resolution signal estimation algorithm which can estimate the spatial direction Bi and temporal frequency f(i) of each source by using the virtual time-and-space array technique with music algorithm. The virtual linear array consists of one spatial subarray and one virtual temporal subarray and the parameter pair (theta(i), f(i)) of each source can be easily obtained and automatically coupled. The proposed approach is simple and direct. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed technique.
