Positioning and tracking technologies have emerged as one of the key techniques for advancing the development of computer-aided medicine. To provide precise medical care, it is necessary to rely on high-precision magnetic positioning functions in medical application scenarios, such as capsule endoscopy and rehabilitation training detection. Due to the position and angle deflection of the magnetic sensor array during manufacturing and installation, there is a deviation between the measured magnetic field intensity of the sensor and the actual magnetic field intensity of the theoretical magnetic source. In this study, a calibration of coordinate measurement method was proposed and an optical plate calibration platform of 300 x 450 mm was developed. The 3-D coordinates of both the bottom surface of the magnetic source placement platforms and the three-axis magnetic sensors were measured with an optical image measuring instrument (NVC500) and a coordinate measuring machine (Daisy8106). The new method for sensor array calibration proposed in this study can be achieved by simply obtaining the sensor deflection angle and the sensor compensation coefficient. Without having to calibrate the sensor position, this method can obtain precise sensor position coordinates and the position and orientation of the calibration magnetic source. Finally, experiments were conducted to determine the association between magnetic source distribution and positioning accuracy, and the results could serve as a guide for the use of magnetic sensor array positioning.

Adaptive positioning current measurement method for multi-conductor system based on linear magnetic sensor array

As transmission and distribution networks now span a wider region, the difficulty of monitoring lines and the incidence of faults are both increased, which reduces the stability of the power system. During the troubleshooting procedure, quick problem identification, line selection, and placement are essential, and non-contact current measurement can be quite helpful. Its advantages include the capacity to monitor high-frequency current and line space position, both of which contain a range of fault characteristics, as well as a high-frequency band, compact size, low cost, and simple installation. In this paper, we present an adaptive positioning current measurement method for multi-conductor systems based on a linear magnetic sensor array. The method detects the position shifts of individual conductors when their locations are displaced to varying degrees using a novel conductor positioning calculation algorithm. Besides, it automatically adjusts the measurement matrix to provide precise current measurements. In the simulations, three-phase parallel currents with an amplitude of 100 A are analyzed based on the parameters of a 15-meter cup-type tensile tower. During the different displacements of the three conductors, the new method calculates the conductor displacements and the current in real-time. For all the three conductor positions change with the maximum amplitude of 2 m, the average error of all the conductor position measurements is about 0.1 m, and the root mean square error (RMSE) of the currents drops from 34.18A to 3.72A with correction, which proves the effectiveness of the algorithm.

In this paper, we present an innovative concept for determining the assembly preload of a bolted joint. The torsion of the bolt is recorded as a measured variable. Two measurement methods are presented for this task. They are applied simultaneously and compared with each other. The optical method allows high accuracy and is suitable for test benches and characterization of screw parameters. The magnetic measuring method is suitable both for the test bench and for measurements in the practical application of bolted joints. The required measuring accuracy and robustness against geometric misalignment can be achieved by a magnetic sensor array. This offers many advantages over a single angle sensor. A test bench is presented on which both methods are applied simultaneously. Experimental results are shown and compared for verification. As a next development objective, a concept for a tool integrating a magnetic sensor array for torsion measurement is proposed.

Predictive Model-Based Correction of magnetic sensor array Sway Errors

magnetic sensor arrays are typically used to detect magnetic targets. Currently, research on sensor array calibration focuses on solving the problems of inconsistent sensitivity, zero offset, and non-orthogonality in individual sensors, and misalignment errors between sensors. However, in magnetic field detection, sensor arrays are usually mounted on a platform or carried as a handheld device and are prone to random swaying during the detection process, leading to changes in the attitude and position of the magnetic sensors, which in turn generates swaying errors. In this study, the source of swaying error in sensor arrays was first analyzed theoretically, and a swaying error model of a magnetic sensor was established. Second, a swaying error calibration method was proposed in combination with the classical prediction model-Gaussian process regression (GPR), backpropagation (BP) neural network, and support vector machine (SVM) in the field of artificial intelligence. The experimental results show that the prediction performance based on the BP neural network is the most outstanding. After correction, the relative error percentage of the swaying error in the magnetic field data decreased significantly from 165.50% to 9.35%, which is a significant improvement of the correction effect. In addition, we conducted model comparison experiments in different environments, and the results show that the BP model performs well in various environments, demonstrating its strong generalization ability and robustness. Finally, the distance error of the magnetic dipole position was significantly reduced after calibration, from 1.56, 1.12, and 2.50 m to 0.17, 0.04, and 0.04 m, respectively. Thus, the effectiveness of the calibration method was verified.

Imaging of Defect Signal of Reinforcing Steel Bar at High Lift-Off Using a magnetic sensor array by Unsaturated AC magnetic Flux Leakage Testing

Reinforcing steel bars (rebars) in the concrete need to be inspected to prevent the structure from collapsing. magnetic nondestructive testing methods can inspect the rebar without the influence of concrete. However, since the inspection is performed at a high lift-off on concrete, a strong applied magnetic field is required in order to measure a sufficient magnetic signal generated from the rebar. In addition, if a single sensor is used to measure the rebar, this requires the scanning of extensive area along the invisible rebar covered with the concrete. To overcome these problems, we have developed a method to detect and image the defect signal using unsaturated ac magnetic flux leakage (USAC-MFL) testing combining a magnetic sensor array probe. The USAC-MFL is a method that uses an alternating magnetic field in the initial magnetization characteristics of steel, which does not require a strong applied magnetic field compared to the conventional MFL method. By measuring the magnetic flux from the rebar in a wide area using the magnetic sensor array probe, the defect signal was able to be detected and imaged. The defect signal was able to be confirmed up to the lift-off of 100 mm even when the defect was half length of the rebar or located on the back side.

Indoor Positioning Using magnetic Fingerprint Map Captured by magnetic sensor array

By collecting the magnetic field information of each spatial point, we can build a magnetic field fingerprint map. When the user is positioning, the magnetic field measured by the sensor is matched with the magnetic field fingerprint map to identify the user's location. However, since the magnetic field is easily affected by external magnetic fields and magnetic storms, which can lead to "local temporal-spatial variation", it is difficult to construct a stable and accurate magnetic field fingerprint map for indoor positioning. This research proposes a new magnetic indoor positioning method, which combines a magnetic sensor array composed of three magnetic sensors and a recurrent probabilistic neural network (RPNN) to realize a high-precision indoor positioning system. The magnetic sensor array can detect subtle magnetic anomalies and spatial variations to improve the stability and accuracy of magnetic field fingerprint maps, and the RPNN model is built for recognizing magnetic field fingerprint. We implement an embedded magnetic sensor array positioning system, which is evaluated in an experimental environment. Our method can reduce the noise caused by the spatial-temporal variation of the magnetic field, thus greatly improving the indoor positioning accuracy, reaching an average positioning accuracy of 0.78 m.

magnetic positioning method can be well used for tracking of intra-body objects, such as wireless capsule robot. Before the magnetic sensor array can be used to locate the target, it is necessary to calibrate each sensor to ensure tracking accuracy. Existing calibration methods generally require a large number of samples with prior known pose information of the magnetic target, and then the calibrated coefficients can be obtained by optimization method. Aiming to simplify the calibration process, we propose a fast calibration method in which position and direction of magnetic target are not required during the calibration by introducing a novel calibration tool and corresponding algorithm. As a result, the calibration process can be simple and no advanced pose information is needed. Experimental results verified the proposed method.

magnetically actuated wireless capsule robot has been a promising medical apparatus for minimally invasive examination and operation in the gastrointestinal tract. Position and orientation information of the robot are essential for an effective and safe feedback control. However, simultaneous actuation and localization is still a challenge. In our previous work, we proposed a multi-magnet based method. To further improve the tracking accuracy, in this paper we propose a method which utilizes the prior known pose information of the external actuation magnet. Moreover, the method also can simplify the calculation. A magnetic sensor array is used to sample the magnetic field from the external magnet and internal magnet. By subtracting the magnetic field of the external magnet according to the prior pose information, pose of the internal magnet then can be estimated by using nonlinear optimization algorithm. Experimental results verified the proposed method.

A novel current transducer based on rectangular array of magnetic sensors is proposed. It is a valid alternative to traditional current transformers in high power dc busbar systems for fusion applications. Since measured magnetic fields along rectangular closed integral path fluctuate violently, sum-average algorithm, which is most commonly used by circular arrangement sensor array, does not fulfill the accuracy requirement any more. Numerical quadrature algorithms of high orders are applied to improve rectangular array's accuracy. The algorithm can be implemented by multilevel adder of analog circuit. Optimum dimension of rectangular array, error introduced by installing deviation and crosstalk interference are analyzed theoretically. The experimental results sufficiently verify the accuracy and reliability of the proposed transducer.

In this paper, a new positioning method based on magnetic sensor array is proposed, which includes the linear regression algorithm in machine learning, to make the system predict the position of the object in the magnetic field according to the measured data more accurately without large fluctuation caused by noise and surrounding magnetic fields. The feasibility of this method is introduced in the paper and the experiment proves that it could reduce noise and improve positioning accuracy.
