As a main steam temperaturecontrolsystem features characteristics such as large time-delays, time-varying parameters, and nonlinearity, it is difficult to obtain accurate results using traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. As a result, a predictive functional-PID cascade control algorithm is proposed. In the cascade controlsystem designed by the proposed algorithm, a conventional PID control is used for the inner loop and a predictive functional control is used for the outer loop. This combines the advantages of these two algorithms-the anti-disturbance of PID algorithm and the strong robustness of predictive functional control algorithm. Simulation results show that, compared with the conventional PID cascade control, the controller based on the proposed algorithm can meet the system requirements such as rapid response and steady-state accuracy, which makes the system have strong robustness and anti-disturbance capability.
