Single Epoch GPS Deformation Signals Extraction and Gross Error Detection Technique Based on Wavelet Transform

Wavelet theory is efficient as an adequate tool for analyzing single epoch GPS deformation signal. Wavelet analysis technique on gross error detection and recovery is advanced. Criteria of wavelet function choosing and mallat decomposition levels decision are discussed. An effective deformation signal extracting method is proposed, that is wavelet noise reduction technique considering gross error recovery, which combines wavelet multi-resolution gross error detection results. Time position recognizing of gross errors and their repairing performance are realized. In the experiment, compactly supported orthogonal wavelet with short support block is more efficient than the longer one when discerning gross errors, which can obtain more finely analyses. And the shape of discerned gross error of short support wavelet is simpler than that of the longer one. Meanwhile, the time scale is easier to identify.

In this paper, a novel real time data compression and reconstruction method is proposed to process a large amount of steady state and transient data of power system. Based on the biorthogonality filters group with the linear wavelet (WT) of lifting scheme and Huffman coding approach, the new algorithm is studied and developed. The field data are used to test the method. The results prove that the method is valid with less data processing time and as high as about 9 times of compression ratio. This method is suitable for the real-time compression of mass data recorded continuously by dynamic monitoring devices of electric power system.

After described the define of multi-resolution analysis, the characteristics of mallat algorithm and its shortage are discussed. Considering the structure of the mallat algorithm and the support of wavelet function are limited, the bricklaying algorithm is presented. The orientation of signal processing in the new algorithm isn't from the bottom to top, but in order of time in the mass. So it can be used in the real time signal process.

The distortion phenomena of components of signal reconstructed from wavelet coefficients using mallat algorithm in detection of singular signals are analyzed. By adjusting the calculation flow of this algorithm, a new wavelet decomposition and reconstruction algorithm is presented based on conjugate quadrature filter bank. Theoretic analysis and simulated experiment results show that the new algorithm not only greatly abates the distortion phenomenon mentioned above, but also possesses orthonormality, symmetry and limit-support simultaneously, so it can be used to analyse signal more precisely.

Direct algorithm of wavelet transform (WT) is the numerical algorithmobtained from the integral formula of WT by directly digitization. Some problems on realizing thealgorithm are studied. Some conclusions on the direct algorithm of discrete wavelet transform (DWT),such as discrete convolution operation formula of wavelet coefficients and wavelet components,sampling principle and technology to wavelets, deciding method for scale range of wavelets, measuresto solve edge effect problem, etc, are obtained. The realization of direct algorithm of continuouswavelet transform (CWT) is also studied. The computing cost of direct algorithm and mallat algorithmof DWT are still studied, and the computing formulae are obtained. These works are beneficial todeeply understand WT and mallat algorithm. Examples in the end show that direct algorithm can alsobe applied widely.

A wavelet-analysis-based new approach for interference elimination in geochemical hydrocarbon exploration

Guidance for petroleum prospecting is provided by authentic geochemical anomalies, obtained after interference has been eliminated in the original data from a geochemical survey for hydrocarbons. However, this elimination is a complicated process. Few working models or effective methods for interference elimination have been proposed, hampering a wider acceptance of geochemical prospecting as a viable tool for hydrocarbon exploration. This study focuses on the models for different types of interference and developing techniques for interference elimination. We first restudied the geometric nature of hydrocarbon anomalies and interference on the basis of Zhang, L., and Lia, Z. (J. China Univ. Geosci., v. 9, no. 1, p. 72-80, 1998). From this, we determined that at least two types of interference are present in the data of a surface geochemical survey for hydrocarbons. One is the superimposition type originating mainly from microorganisms and contamination, and the other is the multiplication type resulting from variations in soil mineral components. We then established digital conceptual models for both types of interference based on the geometry of anomalies and interference. Finally, we used wavelet analysis to eliminate both types of interference in the models for testing. As Morlet wavelet and symmetric border treatment fit the geometric characteristics of the anomalies and interference, they were used in this study. We found that pre-wavelet analysis treatment is different for different types of interference. For the multiplication type, log-transformation and normalization are needed before wavelet analysis whereas only normalization is needed for the superimposition type. In practice, one needs to identify the type of interference. Therefore, the criteria for determining the interference type were first established geochemically in this study. In order to restore noisy fractal Brownian motion(FBM),discrete fractional gaussiannoise(DFGN) combined with noise increments is decomposed by Haar wavelets based on *** the correlation of detail coefficients,a bank of Wiener filters are used to estimatethe detail coefficients to reconstruct DFGN considering the estimated approximation coefficients in thecoarsest scale in the minimum mean square ***,the reconstructed DFGN is used to restore *** the digital simulation,in light of the restoration mean square error,we show that the suppose that thecorrelation of detail coefficients and the approximation coefficients in the coarsest scale for any Hurstcould be avoided is ***,we calculate the estimation root mean square error of the hurstparameter of the restored FBM to show the validity of our algorithm.

Some advantages of the discrete time algorithm of wavelet decomposition are analysed and some of its problems, such as the discrete convolution operation formula of wavelet coefficients and the wavelet components, the sampling principle and technology to wavelet, the scale range, the characteristic and solving method of the end effect, are discussed. The cost and precision of the algorithm are also analyzed. Using the advanced virtual instrument technology, a virtual signal analyzer is developed for the wavelet transform based on the discrete time algorithm. Finally, some examples are given for the application of the discrete time algorithm of the wavelet decomposition with our analyzer.

This paper describes and explains why image fusion, what is image fusion, and the current research status mainly on wavelet based pixel-based image fusion. Pixel-based image fusion defines the fusion process of original images or the images after pre-processing. Preliminary results of many researches show that the advantages of high-resolution panchromatic image and low-resolution multi-spectral image can be combined by image fusion and the information extraction capability can be improved. The fusion methods evolutes from traditional fusion methods, pyramid based fusion methods to nowadays wavelet based fusion methods. The popular wavelet theory based mallat algorithm and "a Trous" algorithm are explained. In order to overcome some shortcomings of mallat algorithm and "a Trous" algorithm, MRAIM algorithm is designed, which is based on the image formation principle and multi-resolution analysis theory. It formulates the mallat algorithm and "a Trous" algorithm from the theoretical point of view. It can improve the spatial resolution while preserve the hue and saturation unchanged.
