This paper studies the soft tissue deformation of Virtual Surgery Simulation, and using OpenGL to establish the virtual soft tissue deformation system based on mass-spring model. Discussed with fidelity and real-time of the soft tissue deformation in Virtual Surgery Simulation. By Comparing quadrilateral topology, the regular hexagon topology based on mass-spring model is proposed, discussed the dynamic model and its numerical integration method and force feedback calculation model of soft tissue deformation, according to the lack of nearest neighbor mass calculating algorithm in virtual surgical instrument contacting the soft tissue surface, a new method is proposed. The results show that, the modified algorithms have better stability and real-time in soft tissue deformation simulation.

This research presents a running model for a compliant wheel-leg hybrid mobile robot. A wheel-leg consists of three legs arranged by 120 degrees to each other and passive compliant joints. For simplicity, each leg is treated as a linear spring such that a traditional mass-spring model can be applied to model running of the wheel-leg hybrid robot. In order to achieve stable running, we propose a simple controller that can converge a robot leg to a desired angle of attack asymptotically during the swing phase. Hybrid wheel-leg running is then simulated and results are discussed.

In vascular interventional surgery virtual reality simulation facilitates the surgeon in catheter-based operating system for it provides visual information for surgeons. In the most VR simulations vascular is regarded as a rigid object. However, so as to display the deformation of vascular, it is necessary to study the physical model of vascular. Generally speaking, mass spring method (MSM) is an appropriate physical model to characterize the vascular deformation but the spring coefficient identification is a tough issue. The motivation of this paper is to determine the spring coefficient according to the vascular mechanical properties and derive the stiffness matrix of MSM. Instead of setting spring coefficient manually, we analyze the elasticity distribution on the vascular wall and identify this parameter by the analytical results. In this way, the spring coefficient varies with circumferential force along the vascular. After the stiffness matrix of MSM is derived, the vascular deformation is relevant to the vascular radius. The analytical results suggest that the vascular with large radius deforms less dramatically than that of small radius.

The virtual reality (VR) has been utilised in the preoperative planning of tumour surgery because it enables surgeons to touch and operate on tumour in a virtual environment. This paper proposes a virtual tumour perception system for preoperative tumour surgery planning. The system is based on a novel multi-layer mass-spring model, which consists of connected springs in series. The basic parameters of springs are equal ratio sequence. The core parameter shear modulus of springs can be dynamically adjusted according to the biological properties of soft tissue in clinical applications to simulate tissue heterogeneity. A palpation simulation algorithm is designed to help users to perceive the tumours. Two validation experiments are carried out: model accuracy experiment and practical perception experiment. Experiments indicate that the proposed model faithfully mimics actual clinical tumour, which is more accurate compared with models simulated by other systems.

With growing interest, an amalgamation of the field of Human-Computer Interaction and Speech Synthesis is redefining the way humans interact with technology by exploring several facets of interaction and thus incorporating it in synthesized speech. One such facet is laughter - an important form of interaction that expresses emotion like humor, joy, amusement as well as sarcasm. The most significant excitation of a laughter signal occurs at the instant of glottal closure, and determination of these instants, known as epochs, along with instantaneous fundamental frequency is used for deriving the excitation source information - a method known as Zero Frequency Filtering. In the existing literature, modification of the characteristics of the excitation source information along with the LP residuals and prosody that involves changing the pitch and duration of the signal, form the rudimentary step for synthesizing laughter calls. In order to emulate the naturalness, these modifications are carried out by first examining the features of natural laughter. This paper proposes a method to generate laughter signal by concatenation of laughter calls using mass-spring model, as laughter calls make up a laughter signal. Using the mass-spring model, a fair CMOS is achieved making the synthesized laughter sound more natural. The synthesized laughter can be used to improve the perceivability of a synthesized speech in Human-Computer Interaction

A novel improved mass-spring model is analyzed and presented in this paper to settle down the super-elastic problem in the simulation of flexible gossamer. The virtual nonlinear springs, rather than linear Hooke springs, are adopted in the improved mass-spring model to effectively simulate the stress-strain response of flexible material and to show the physical properties realistically. The simulations reveal that the proposed improved mass-spring method can handle the super-elasticity phenomenon and definitely improved the simulation performance of flexible gossamer. The comparison with linear mass-spring model simulation also shows that better mechanical properties representation as well as the three-dimensional simulation performance can be obtained.

In this paper, we propose a mass-spring model based on shape matching for real-time deformable modeling in virtual reality systems. By defining a rigid core for surface mesh model and adding a new generalized spring for each mass, our surface mesh model can preserve its original geometric features such as volume and shape. Then, we use shape matching approaches to update the rigid core of the model dynamically so as to simulate global deformations. At last, we adopt an inverse dynamics technique to deal with the resulting deformations. We correct the non-real "super-elastic" effect for linear elastic models so that the visual reality is improved.

mass-spring model is a popular method to simulate soft tissues in virtual surgery applications. However, the setting of appropriate model parameters to reproduce the real mechanical responses of the tissues, which is anisotropic in general, remains an issue. This paper presents a hybrid heuristic approach to identify the parameters by incorporating simulated annealing into genetic algorithms. The optimization process is performed with reference to the benchmarks obtained by applying continuum mechanics and the finite element method. Experiments are performed to evaluate the feasibility of the approach.

Based on the analysis of the movement and stress of the floor system in the process of vehicle blast,the movement of the floor is simplified,and a bench test method of floor impact test based on mass spring model is *** with the floor motion and the tibia force curve of the dummy leg in the vehicle blast test,the bench test method can reproduce the movement and force of the dummy leg in the vehicle blast test very well,which is in good agreement with the vehicle *** method can evaluate the impact of floor and its accessories on the leg force of the dummy separately,avoiding the complexity and danger of vehicle test and reducing the development cost.
