This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 13th International Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computing, LSSC 23021, which was held in Sozopol, Bulgaria, during June 7-11, 2021.;The 60 papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 73 submissions. The volume also includes two invited talks in full paper length. The papers were organized in topical sections as follows: Fractional diffusion problems: numerical methods, algorithms and applications; large-scale models: numerical methods, parallel computations and applications; application of metaheuristics to large-scale problems; advanced discretizations and solvers for coupled systems of partial differential equations; optimal control of ODEs, PDEs and applications; tensor and matrix factorization for big-data analysis; machine learning and model order reduction for large scale predictive simulations; HPC and big data: algorithms and applications; and contributed papers.

A large international conference on High Performance Computing and its - plications was held in Shanghai, China, August 8–10, 2004. It served as a forum to present current work by researchers and software developers from around the world as well as to highlight activities in the high performance computing area. It aimed to bring together research scientists, application - oneers,andsoftwaredeveloperstodiscussproblemsandsolutionsandtoid- tify new issues in this area. The conference focused on the design and analysis of high performance computing algorithms, tools, and platforms and their s- enti?c, engineering, medical, and industrial applications. It drew about 150 participants from Canada, China, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, S- gapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. More than 170 papers were received on a variety of subjects in modern high performance computing and its applications, such as numerical and software algorithm design and analysis, grid computing advance, adaptive and par- lel algorithm development, distributing debugging tools, computational grid and network environment design, computer simulation and visualization, and computational language study and their applications to science, engineering, and medicine. This book contains ninety papers that are representative in these subjects. It serves as an excellent research reference for graduate s- dents, scientists, and engineers who work with high performance computing for problems arising in science, engineering, and medicine. This conference would not have been possible without the support of a number of organizations and agencies and the assistance of many people.

This book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of Calculemus 2014, Digital mathematics Libraries, DML 2014, mathematical Knowledge Management, MKM 2014 and Systems and Projects, S&P 2014, held in Coimbra, Portugal, during July 7-11, 2014 as four tracks of CICM 2014, the Conferences on Intelligent computermathematics. The 26 full papers and 9 Systems and Projects descriptions presented together with 5 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 55 submissions. The Calculemus track of CICM examines the integration of symbolic computation and mechanized reasoning. The Digital mathematics Libraries track - evolved from the DML workshop series - features math-aware technologies, standards, algorithms and processes towards the fulfillment of the dream of a global DML. The mathematical Knowledge Management track of CICM is concerned with all aspects of managing mathematical knowledge in the informal, semi-formal and formal settings. The Systems and Projects track presents short descriptions of existing systems or on-going projects in the areas of all the other tracks of the conference.

This book discusses recent advances and research in applied mathematics, statistics and their applications in computing. It features papers presented at the fourth conference in the series organized at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India, on 9 – 11 January 2018 on areas of current interest, including operations research, soft computing, applied mathematical modelling, cryptology, and security analysis. The conference has emerged as a powerful forum, bringing together leading academic scientists, experts from industry, and researchers and offering a venue to discuss, interact and collaborate to stimulate the advancement of mathematics and its applications in computerscience.;The education of future consumers, users, producers, developers and researchers of mathematics and its applications is an important challenge in modern society, and as such, mathematics and its application in computerscience are of vital significance to all spectrums of the community, as well as to mathematicians and computing professionals across different educational levels and disciplines. With contributions by leading international experts, this book motivates and creates interest among young researchers.

At the core of many engineering problems is the solution of sets of equa tions and inequalities, and the optimization of cost functions. Unfortunately, except in special cases, such as when a set of equations is linear in its un knowns or when a convex cost function has to be minimized under convex constraints, the results obtained by conventional numerical methods are only local and cannot be guaranteed. This means, for example, that the actual global minimum of a cost function may not be reached, or that some global minimizers of this cost function may escape detection. By contrast, interval analysis makes it possible to obtain guaranteed approximations of the set of all the actual solutions of the problem being considered. This, together with the lack of books presenting interval techniques in such a way that they could become part of any engineering numerical tool kit, motivated the writing of this book. The adventure started in 1991 with the preparation by Luc Jaulin of his PhD thesis, under Eric Walter's supervision. It continued with their joint supervision of Olivier Didrit's and Michel Kieffer's PhD theses. More than two years ago, when we presented our book project to Springer, we naively thought that redaction would be a simple matter, given what had already been achieved . . .
