This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on the applications of Evolutionary Computation, Evoapplications 2011, held in Torino, Italy, in April 2011 colocated with the Evo* 2011 events. Thanks to the large number of submissions received, the proceedings for Evoapplications 2011 are divided across two volumes (LNCS 6624 and 6625). The present volume contains contributions for EvoCOMNET, EvoFIN, EvoIHOT, EvoMUSART, EvoSTIM, and EvoTRANSLOC. The 51 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. This volume presents an overview about the latest research in EC. Areas where evolutionary computation techniques have been applied range from telecommunication networks to complex systems, finance and economics, games, image analysis, evolutionary music and art, parameter optimization, scheduling, and logistics. These papers may provide guidelines to help new researchers tackling their own problem using EC.

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th
International Symposium on Graph Drawing, GD 2010, held in Konstanz,
Germany, during September 2010.
The 30 revised full papers presented together with 5 revised short and 8
poster papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions.
The volume also contains a detailed report about the 17th Annual Graph
Drawing Contest, held as a satellite event of GD 2010. Devoted both to
theoretical advances as well as to implemented solutions, the papers are
concerned with the geometric representation of graphs and networks and
are motivated by those applications where it is crucial to visualize
structural information as graphs.

George Collins’ discovery of Cylindrical Algebraic Decomposition (CAD) as a method for Quantifier Elimination (QE) for the elementary theory of real closed fields brought a major breakthrough in automating mathematics with recent important applications in high-tech areas (e.g. robot motion), also stimulating fundamental research in computer algebra over the past three decades.
This volume is a state-of-the-art collection of important papers on CAD and QE and on the related area of algorithmic aspects of real geometry. It contains papers from a symposium held in Linz in 1993, reprints of seminal papers from the area including Tarski’s landmark paper as well as a survey outlining the developments in CAD based QE that have taken place in the last twenty years.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed conference proceedings of the 38th International Symposium on mathematical Foundations of computerscience, MFCS 2013, held in Klosterneuburg, Austria, in August 2013. The 67 revised full papers presented together with six invited talks were carefully selected from 191 submissions. Topics covered include algorithmic game theory, algorithmic learning theory, algorithms and data structures, automata, formal languages, bioinformatics, complexity, computational geometry, computer-assisted reasoning, concurrency theory, databases and knowledge-based systems, foundations of computing, logic in computerscience, models of computation, semantics and verification of programs, and theoretical issues in artificial intelligence.

is a scientific toolkit for the Macintosh computer consisting of twelve graphics programs. It supports mathematical computation and experimentation in dynamical systems, both for differential equations and for iteration. The Macmath package was designed to accompany the textbooks Differential Equations: A Dynamical Systems Approach Part I & II. The text and software was developed for a junior-senior level course in applicable mathematics at Cornell University, in order to take advantage of excellent and easily accessible graphics.;addresses differential equations and iteration such as: analyzer, diffeq, phase plane, diffeq 3D views, numerical methods, periodic differential equations, cascade, 2D iteration, eigenfinder, jacobidraw, fourier, planets. These versatile programs greatly enhance the understanding of the mathematics in these topics. Qualitative analysis of the picture leads to quantitative results and even to new mathematics. This new edition includes the latest version of the;diskette,

One of the most well-known of all network optimization problems is the shortest path problem, where a shortest connection between two locations in a road network is to be found. This problem is the basis of route planners in vehicles and on the Internet. Networks are very common structures; they consist primarily of a ?nite number of locations (points, nodes), together with a number of links (edges, arcs, connections) between the locations. Very often a certain number is attached to the links, expressing the distance or the cost between the end points of that connection. Networks occur in an extremely wide range of applications, among them are: road networks; cable networks; human relations networks; project scheduling networks; production networks; distribution networks; neural networks; networks of atoms in molecules. In all these cases there are “objects” and “relations” between the objects. A n- work optimization problem is actually nothing else than the problem of ?nding a subset of the objects and the relations, such that a certain optimization objective is satis?ed.
