Research on mathematical algorithm to determine the chemical diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in CaZrO3 based proton conductor at high temperature

To study hydrogen diffusion properties is of importance in design of new proton conductors. In the past, the chemical diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in proton conductor was usually obtained by the manual calculation method that largely depends on judgment ability of researchers, so calculation accuracy is difficult to control. To solve this problem, a mathematical algorithm and C language computer program were designed to calculate the chemical diffusion coefficient based on Fick's second law and Romberg numerical integral, in which the chemical diffusion coefficient is obtained by fitting measured electrical resistance relaxation curve based on. In addition, the algorithm can be extended to calculate the chemical diffusion coefficient in some special cases with incomplete measured electrical resistance relaxation curve or inaccurate measured values of R0 and R infinity based on modified algorithm of R0 and R infinity, what cannot be handled by the manual calculation method. The chemical diffusion coefficient of self-synthesized Yb doped CaZrO3 proton conductor were calculated by using the algo-rithm and compared with the manual calculation method. The results show that the algorithm has the advan-tages of high precision and powerful computing function. The new algorithm is potential to be widely applied to the calculation of the chemical diffusion coefficient for hydrogen in proton conductors to replace the manual calculation method.

A novel mathematical control algorithm (HNU Shading) for different window shades based on HNU solar model

Window shading control helps maximize daylight use for creating comfortable indoor luminous environments and reduces over-illuminance and glare discomfort. This study proposes a novel mathematical algorithm (the HNU Shading algorithm) for calculating the distribution of direct sunlight indoors and adjusting window shades to avoid over-illuminance and glare indoors. The algorithm uses the sun position, window-ambient illuminance, window design parameters, and the controlled area (desktop and occupant's head) as inputs to control different window shades (the vertical blind, horizontal blind, exterior awning, and interior shutter in this study), and the performance was verified via experiments and simulations. The results show that the HNU Shading algorithm has a high precision level of predicting the distribution area of direct sunlight with the error at 0.01-0.07 m. And it prevents the high illuminance from the desktop and keeps it lower than 3,000 lx under most of conditions with different window directions, shade types, seasons, and sunlight intensities. Meanwhile, with the HNU Shading algorithm, the Daylight Glare Probability (DGP) is lower than 0.4 during the period when intolerable glare happens. This study contributes to configuring practical and universal real-time window shading controls for different buildings with different window shade types, such as offices, classrooms, libraries, airports, and railway stations.

Journal Ranking Based on Publication Difficulty Factors (JRpDF): A Proposed mathematical algorithm

Academic publishing appears to be the most important key of the academic functions. Selecting the right journal to publish is a challenge to academics. Yet, there is inadequate knowledge about a model specifically directed at the topic of the journal selection process with a mathematical certainty. The objectives of this research are: to identify the main factors that researchers consider when selecting an academic journal for submitting a manuscript, and, to develop a mathematical algorithm of journal selection that provide the best journal choice with a mathematical certainty based on difficulty of each factor. Quantitative research through questionnaires has been applied as an appropriate instrument base to address the researcher's identification of the factors that should be considered when selecting a journal for submission a manuscript. Questionnaire developed and emailed to academics in 31 public and private universities in the developing countries. Academics in the sample reported that the most important publication difficulty factors were publishing in reputable journals that are indexed and abstracted in well-known databases, and publishing in a journal that has an impact factor. However, the most least publication difficulty factors were found to be: number of issues per year of the journal and if the journal is an open access or with subscription. The proposed mathematical algorithm (equation) and a graphical model of journal's publication difficulty factors were developed and tested on a sample of journals.

A mathematical algorithm to harmonize measurements for thyroid-stimulating hormone between instruments

Background: Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is measured differently between diagnostic units using different devices, which makes cross-comparisons challenging. Here, we have developed a mathematical algorithm to harmonize TSH measurements between 2 instruments, the Abbott ISR2000 and the Siemens ADVIA Centaur ***: Applying the principle of the maximum allowable error between the standard curve and real signal values, the minimum number of comparison samples required for TSH hormone detection was calculated for both instruments. Next, a mathematical algorithm describing the relationship between TSH standard curves from both instruments was established. The algorithm was then tested on sample measurements from both instruments, with signals transformed to Siemens ADVIA Centuar XP-type data. Finally, test results were assessed where the relative error was 1/2 TEa). After algorithmic transformation, the average percentage error was reduced to 7.93% (<1/2 TEa).Conclusions: Our algorithm enables TSH measurements across different instruments to be comparable, and provides a method to harmonize TSH data between laboratories that utilize different instrumentation.

The English-Chinese machine translation system is a current research topic. This paper designs an English-Chinese comparison system based on Lagrangian search mathematical algorithm. This paper proposes a Lagrangian algorithm to describe the English short syntax and improves the English-Chinese translation algorithm. When expanding nodes, the algorithm expands on the inspiration node and expands on other nodes. The experimental results show that the improved Lagrangian search algorithm can obtain better translation results and search efficiency in the system.

Adjustment of lactate dehydrogenase concentration results according to the haemolysis index following in vitro haemolysis

In the presence of haemolysis, the interpretation of the Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity result is a major operational challenge for medical laboratories: if the origin is intravascular, then the measurement will reflect the clinical reality, but in extravascular haemolysis, the laboratory will be confronted with an artefactual increase leading to false-positive high results. The aim of our study was to evaluate the adjustment of LDH concentration results according to the haemolysis index (HI). After designed a mathematical model to correct the LDH measured as a function of the haemolysis index using a Cobas 8000 analyser (Roche diagnostics, Mannheim, Germany), LDH measurement of seventy-four duplicate samples were tested before and after exposure to extravascular haemolysis process. After in vitro haemolysis process, a significant increase haemolysis index (Man-Whitney U-Test p < 0.0001) were observed. Before process the HI median was 4 [2.0 - 6.75] and after HI median was 18 [10 - 35.75]. Without correction, LDH results showed a significant increase (p < 0.001) after haemolysis process and substantial analytical discrepancies (31/74) were observed according to TEa of CLIA. After correction, data showed no significant difference (p = 0.497) and the mathematical algorithm allowed to reduce the analytical discrepancies (2/74). If haemolysis was present in vitro, the mathematical algorithm increased the accuracy of the LDH results. However, the lack of discrimination between in vivo and in vitro haemolysis requires caution and the results should be reported only as a commentary to inform the clinician.

An exponential increase in diverse load demand in the last decade has influenced the integration of more power plants into the power system. This increases the fault current due to the bidirectional flow of current, resulting in unwanted tripping of the relays if not properly coordinated. Therefore, it is imperative to ensure the installation of relays in the grid being able to sense the fault current from any direction (i.e. upstream or downstream). This can be accomplished by introducing an optimal directional overcurrent relay (DOCR) coordination scheme into the system. This paper presents an in-depth review of the applications of various optimization techniques for optimal coordination of directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) in integrated power networks. The review highlights the advantages and limitations of techniques implemented to mitigate the DOCR coordination issues. Furthermore, potential research directions for optimal DOCR coordination are also discussed in this paper.

This paper presents a novel method for determining the worm wheel tooth flank surface. The worm wheel model is developed according to the theory of gearing and the gear generation mechanism. Two cases are considered simultaneously. In one case, the worm wheel is generated by the hourglass worm hob with a rectilinear tooth axial profile, while in the other case, it is generated with an arc (concave and convex) tooth axial profile. The contact lines between the hourglass worm hob and worm wheel surfaces are determined. Surface formation generated during processing by the tool external edge and formation so-called region II was presented. The manner of separating regions on the worm wheel tooth flank surface was developed. Because the difference between the parameters that describe the tool side surface, only the flowchart of the algorithm for determining the worm wheel tooth side surface of rectilinear profile is presented. For the arc profile, the algorithm flowchart is analogous. The proposed procedures and the developed computer-aided worm wheel generating program allow obtaining complete mathematical representation of worm wheel tooth flank surface. (C) 2021 THE AUTHORS. A novel mathematical model for modeling viscosity and temperature relationship for dead oils

Viscosity is crucial in subsurface and surface transport, used in engineering domains like heat transfer and pipeline design. However, measurements are limited, necessitating predictive viscosity relationships. Existing models lack precision or pertain to limited fluids, and accurately forecasting dead oil viscosity remains challenging due to errors. The study presents a mathematical algorithm to accurately estimate viscosity values in hydrocarbon fluids. It uses a robust non-linear regression technique to establish a reliable relationship between fluid viscosity and temperature within a specific temperature range. The algorithm is applied to extra-heavy to light crude oil samples from Iranian oilfields, revealing viscosity values ranging from 0.29 cp to 5328.74 cp within a dataset of 243 viscosity data points. After modeling each of these five fluids, the highest values obtained for the maximum absolute error and relative error are related to the fluid with an API gravity of 12.92. The maximum absolute error and relative error for this fluid sample are 1.25 cp and 6.04%, respectively. The algorithm offers acceptable precision in outcome models, even with limited training data, demonstrating its effectiveness in training models with less than 30% of available data. Moreover, these models end up with a near-unity coefficient of determination in testing data, reaffirming their proficiency at reflecting empirical data with remarkable accuracy.

Area reconnaissance modeling of modular reconnaissance robotic systems

In terms of deploying forces and assets in different domains, the conduct of contemporary military operations can be characterized as complex. Information obtained from a wide range of sources and sensors is thus a crucial factor influencing the course and outcome of an operation. It must be robust, variably deployable, sustainable long-term, modular, and flexible when performing reconnaissance tasks in the rear of enemy forces or in areas threatened by, for example, chemical, biological, radiological, and/or nuclear (CBRN) threats. This paper describes the requirements of commanders for the capabilities of autonomous modular robotic systems performing reconnaissance tasks to support their units. It characterizes the possibilities of using mathematical-algorithmic models in planning the operation of robotic systems. The computational capabilities of tactical decision support system models are demonstrated on two scenarios for the reconnaissance of an area of interest. The partial calculations of the different parts of the reconnaissance task are performed in a logical sequence. Field tests practically verified the variants of performing reconnaissance tasks by robotic systems. The use of digital terrain and relief models, mathematical-algorithmic models, and variant modeling has increased the efficiency of the planning and deployment of a group of robotic systems in the reconnaissance of an area of interest.
