Solar Photovoltaic cell is the smallest unit of solar photovoltaic power system, it converts light energy in to electrical energy. The phenomenon of this conversion of light energy into electrical energy is termed as Photovoltaic effect. The aim of this study is to develop a model for photovoltaic module based on mathematical expression. The conventional single diode model for solar cell with series and shunt resistance is used for illustration. The effect of change in environmental condition like irradiance and temperature on output of photovoltaic module is shown, the effect of physical parameter variation such as shunt and series resistance is also consider. The characteristic of proposed model is compared with the reference photovoltaic module. The 250 watt photovoltaic module manufactured by Tata solar power is used as reference. The large solar array system can be modeled and simulate using this model. Simulation was performed at any and all step using matlab/simulink software.

The performance of Electric Vehicles (EVs) undergoes rapid changes over time. EVs are equipped with an Energy Storage System (ESS) consisting of a battery, controller, charger, BMS, and a dynamically designed vehicle. The performance of an EV primarily depends on the mentioned parameters. Researchers are keen on designing and developing rigid, efficient, and long-lasting vehicles. Within the ESS field, lithium-ion batteries are known for their extended lifespan, making battery model parameter estimation a crucial aspect of EVs. Currently, many scholars present great relation studies on equivalent circuit models (ECM) for ESS i.e Li-ion batteries. They are focus on the primarily order model with resistor and capacitor (RC) and the secondarily order model with RC, which are commonly used in thevenin’s model. This paper aims to simulate both I st and II nd order models with RC. matlab/simulink software is utilized for simulation and analysis, providing insights into the correct evaluation of State of charge (SOC) and terminal voltage of the Energy Storage System in the cell (ESS). The paper concludes by presenting an accurate LIB model for thevenin’s model parameter estimation, comparing the outputs of both models and providing comments. The simulation methodology helps in identifying the best method for accurate SOC estimation and analyzing the diferences between conventional and computational methods under various operating conditions.

This paper presents the step by step analytical design procedure for outer rotor flywheel magneto. The outer rotor permanent magnet flywheel magneto (PMFWM) is superior for vehicle applications due to its robustness, little maintenance and low cost configuration. In this work, the design and performance analysis of a radial flux outer rotor type PMFWM for vehicle applications is presented. At first, elementary configurations like material types, magnet sizing, airgap length, stator and rotor dimensions and additional electrical parameters are studied. The performance parameters of PMFWM like generated power, speed vs emf, speed vs current etc. are then calculated. matlab/simulink is used for DC current calculation and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used to analyse this PMFWM in order to get the simulated performance with flux densities and power calculations. PMFWM prototype is built and tested based on proposed design procedure. The simulation and test results verify the correctness of design procedure.

Power flow control is a big challenge in power systems. Therefore, integrated FACTS devices: STATCOM and SSSC i.e. UPFC is the most suitable device for this application. However, due to cost and reliability issues, researchers have suggested an advanced compound FACTS device which is originated from UPFC with employment of distributed FACTS concept. The latest concept is Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC). This paper focuses mainly on state modeling and controlling of DPFC in d-q frame which includes series controller, shunt controller and DC bus voltage controller. Further, DPFC deployed system performance is analyzed for different cases through simulation. The discussed control scheme facilitates the DPFC to manage real and reactive power flow in power line freely. In conclusion, simulation results indicate the potency and soundness of modelling and control schemes of DPFC for power flow governing.

The controlling techniques of liquid level in a coupled conical tank system is a challenging task owing to its continuous changing cross-section and non-linearity in the system. In this paper, an adaptive model predictive controller (AMPC) is presented to control the valve speed of conical shaped tank to maintain the liquid level. In AMPC, the plant model states are changed in every cycle along with the MPC controller to update the plant parameters in a precise manner, which is a major concern due to its non-linear behavior. Moreover, the comparative analysis of coupled conical tank system with other controllers like Fractional order PID (FOPID) controller and PID controller is carried out. The simulation results represent the superiority of the AMPC controller as compared to the other controlling methods in terms of response time and overshoot.

Flow controllers are widely used in various industries, such as in the petroleum industry to drain oil from offshore to onshore or used for oil distribution. The most used flow controllers in industries are PID-based controller that are implemented using PLCs. In this study, Neuro-Fuzzy controller, designed based on ANFIS algorithm, with inputs in the form of error and change of error, from the observed process variable, which in this case is the water flow rate in the prototype plant output pipe. The controller is operated in the matlab/simulink environment on the PC, which gets flow rate information from flowmeter that connected to the PLC. PLC communicated with the controllers through OLE for Process Control(OPC) facility. The output of the controller, which is in the form of a control valve opening, will be delivered to the PLC via OPC. Therefore, the PLC can control the valve opening according to the desired water flow rate. After undergoing the training process, the developed ANFIS-based controller tested with various of the water flow rate set point to obtain its performance information. From this study it was found that ANFIS-based controller is a controller with good performance, which has the average rise time is 14.76 s, the settling time is 26.82 s, and with overshoot of 1.9%, and has a relatively small error of 1.75%.

Multi Loop Control: Some Aspects with regard to Engineering Education

The paper deals with computer modelling and simulation engineering (CMSE) as an important part in many higher education engineering programs. Some activities were initiated by an Erasmus+ project InMotion with the general aim to improve the level of competencies and skills in CMSE by the development of new and innovative education approaches and learning modules at some Russian Federation and Malaysian universities in cooperation with three European universities. The basic role of the University of Ljubljana is to transfer the appropriate experiences and knowledge in the area of control systems. So this paper briefly describes our way of teaching the control engineering using some important methods and modern tools. After a brief presentation of the red thread of CMSE education a laboratory set-up, consisting of three tanks is used to demonstrate some characteristic approaches in control education. The modelling is the first step. After that the single loop and multi-loop control systems are designed using well known Ziegler-Nichols tuning methods and computer optimization. The emphasise is given also to the appropriate modelling, simulation and control design environments. The matlab-simulink as a representative of causal conventional approach and Dymola-Modelica as a representative of a more advanced acausal multi-domain and object oriented approach are used. In the final discussion some experiences arising from the described control education are given and some advantages and disadvantages of the mentioned computer environments are analysed. © 2018

In this paper we propose a non-linear control law to achieve trajectory tracking in the 3D space for a commercial *** 2.0 quadrotor. The proposed control law is based on a non-linear time varying version of the Backstepping technique that takes into account the dynamics of the internal orientation controller of the ***. The stability of the control law is ensured by the design of recursive Lyapunov functions and its performance is tested by numeric simulations on matlab simulink environment. © 2018

Voltage sag is one of the most significant power quality problems as a result of increasing complexity in the power system. This paper deals to look at solving the voltage sag by using the custom power device Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM). This proposed scheme implements a new controller to generate reference voltage for a Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) which operates in voltage-control mode. The compensator injects minimum current to reduce the losses in the feeder and voltage-source inverter. DSTATCOM is achieved which reduces the cost and increases its capacity to compensate voltage sag. During load change, UPF is maintained and voltage is regulated at load terminal. The DSTATCOM state space model is incorporated with the Deadbeat Predictive Controller using matlab/simulink software for fast load voltage regulation during voltage disturbances. With these features, this scheme allows DSTATCOM to tackle power quality issues by providing power factor correction, voltage regulation, reduction of harmonics (THD) and real power and reactive power mitigation based on the load requirement.

MEMS Sensors are devices capable of collecting the data from the surrounding physical environment and converting it into the useful electrical signals for interpretation and analysis. With the growing complexity in MEMS devices and their need in almost all embedded systems, (e.g., Wireless devices) demands a systematic way for MEMS design, modeling and fabrication. In this paper, modeling and behavioural analysis of MEMS based accelerometer is carried out so as to get the knowledge regarding its working for various inputs. The validation of the results was done by connecting the accelerometer sensor already integrated in the mobile through the matlab Mobile appliction available in the Google Play store. The model was capable of detecting the acceleration value of up to +/- 5g. matlab/ simulink tool is used to model and analyse the accelerometer sensor.
