Analysis and optimization of distance measurement in matlab/simulink model

Based on the basic principle of Time-Of-Flight cameras,a novel matlab/simulink model is proposed to measure phase delay of a modulated light signal which represents the distance from camera to object. Subsequently,by discussing influence factors of phase measurement,it is found that the integration time,the sampling time,and the aliasing effect have important effect on improving the accuracy of phase measurement. Interestingly,by analyzing different integration time and sampling time, it is found that the best integration time and sampling time are 0.05 ms and 10 ns,respectively. In this case(i.e.,in absence of the aliasing effect),the variation range of the distance error is between 1 mm and 11 mm in the interval of one period. Especially,under the consideration of the aliasing effect,the average value of distance error is half of that in absence of the aliasing effect. This improves the accuracy of the distance measurement greatly.

With more electric vehicles introduced in society, there is a need for the further implementation of charging infrastructure. Innovation in electromobility may result in new charging and discharging strategies, including concepts such as smart charging and vehicle-to-grid. This article provides an overview of vehicle charging and discharging innovations with a cable connection. A matlab/simulink model is developed to show the difference between an electric vehicle with and without the vehicle-to-grid capabilities for electricity grid prices estimated for Sweden for three different electric vehicle user profiles and four different electric vehicle models. The result includes the state-of-charge values and price estimations for the different vehicles charged with or without a bidirectional power flow to and from the electric grid. The results show that there is a greater difference in state-of-charge values over the day investigated for the electric vehicles with vehicle-to-grid capabilities than for vehicles without vehicle-to-grid capabilities. The results indicate potential economic revenues from using vehicle-to-grid if there is a significant variation in electricity prices during different hours. Therefore, the vehicle owner can potentially receive money from selling electricity to the grid while also supporting the electric grid. The study provides insights into utilizing vehicle-to-grid in society and taking steps towards its implementation.

AGC, also known as Load Frequency Control (LFC), utilizes mathematical modeling to analyze the dynamics of power generation and load variations. Traditionally, a classical second-order system with a governor and turbine is a common model for managing single-area load frequency. However, this study explores a two-area electrical power system. Using a trial-and-error approach, the matlab/simulink model incorporates PI and PID controllers to manage the frequency and tie line of the two-area system. Additionally, a comparative analysis of these controllers is performed with PID-tuning techniques to refine the accuracy of the system-stabilizing controller's settings. The PID controller adjusts the output of generators, transformers, or other components to maintain optimal operating conditions. As a well-established feedback control method, the Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller is widely used across various fields. Despite its historical importance in control systems, its application is anticipated to evolve with technological and methodological advancements in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

Active magnetic bearings (AMB’s) are used to support rotors using magnetic forces, without any solid to solid contact. The AMB system has four main components: power amplifier, electromagnetic actuator, sensor and controller. In this work, the characterization of power amplifier for the AMB system is undertaken. The gain and phase lag of the power amplifiers over the operating frequency is obtained experimentally. Equivalent circuit models are made for the power amplifier. These characteristics of the amplifiers are used in developing the control algorithm for the AMB. The experimental results of these characterizations will help in understanding the gain of the power amplifier and also the lag between the signal input and the output signal over the desired frequency range. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This work is dedicated to the calculation of industrial balanced pneumatic artificial muscle (PAM) manipulator. The new pneumatic and kinematic scheme of muscle-based manipulator is described. The mathematical model elaborated earlier consists of new refined equation for static characteristics and equations describe dynamic characteristics of PAM. This mathematical model is to modelling manipulator and was realized in matlab/ simulink environment. Presented user interface and subsystems of manipulator parts (valve, PAM and load) could help automize the calculations of PAM manipulator of similar constructions.

Nowadays photovoltaic (PV) based power generation is developing progressively fast as a sustainable power source. This paper presents the designing of a smart distributed of stand-alone solar Micro-grid system, which is suitable for islanding areas as conventional power system is very tough and costly to supply electricity in island areas. The proposed method can offer improvement of system reliability and efficiency for the stand-alone solar micro-grid which is composed of circulated load, generation and energy storage device combined together in the region to one another. All these models of Micro-grid system are simulated by using matlab/simulink. The stand-alone solar micro-grid has been analyzed with single phase full bridge DC to AC inverter, DC to DC Boost converters, battery discharge condition, and backup condition. Finally, different cases of this method are analyzed by simulated in this paper and the results have verified the validity of models successfully.

In Ethiopia water pumping system is given less concern regarding to energy saving and in groundwater management. The amount of groundwater recharging is affected by many factors like seasonal rain variation, global warming, drought and also groundwater withdrawal. This changes significantly show in a water pumping system hydrodynamic head and flowrate changes. Since, the draw down in the system increases because of the ground water recharging is less in the system, the amount of water discharge decreases. When the amount of the water availability in the ground decrease we need such control mechanisms to run the pumping system. The most commonly used controlling system in the country for water pumps are throttling. This thesis is focused on ten deep-well pumps at Akaki well-field Phase-3A ground water pumping system. Studying and evaluate the efficiency the actual groundwater pumping system, make energy efficiency/saving analysis and economic analysis for the improved system. The actual water pumps used to withdraw water from ground at this sites are fixes speed centrifugal submersible pumps, and throttled to the amount of water availability. This types of control techniques are characterized by low efficiency and high energy consumption. Therefore, this pumps draw nearly full horsepower and consume maximum energy full time regardless of water availability in the ground. This research carried out the simulation and performance analysis of such pump motors by implementing a variable frequency drive control between the power supply and motor, using matlab/simulink model and shows the motor perform in its maximum efficiency. Successfully achieved the control of the speed of the induction motor by varying the frequency of the applied voltage using pulse width modulation method. Affinity laws also used to predict the pump performance change to re-design the system in variable speed pump analysis. The economic analysis is shown through comparison between the pumps operatin

This paper proposes a new method combing the Six-phase permanent magnet synchronous generation (PMSG) with 12-pulse series diode rectifier with active harmonic elimination at DC side in order to improve the quality of the ac line currents. The proposed scheme draws nearly sinusoidal currents by controlling the two sets of diode bridge output currents to be triangular and out of phase using the active PWM auxiliary circuit injects directly compensation currents at DC side. The compensation strategy is analyzed. The simulation results demonstrate that the 11th, 13th current harmonic in the Six-PMSG stator currents basically are eliminated, with multiply 5th 7th harmonic content. But the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the Six-PMSG resultant current can be close to 1%.

This paper presents a load flow solution for three phase unbalanced radial distribution feeder using matlab/simulink software. Further a comparison between simulink load flow analysis and solution provided by IEEE distribution system analysis subcommittee for various configurations has been done. Newton-Raphson method for load flow analysis has been used. The IEEE 13 and 34 node test feeder models are used for comparison purposes because these models includes all possible practical configurations and load profiles such as three phase asymmetry, single phase lateral and distributed loads, among others. Results show the voltage magnitude and voltage angle at various load buses with minimum losses.
