Dual torque duty cycle model predictive torque control of PMSM based on extended voltage vector

For the model predictive torque control (MPTC) strategy, the limited quantity of optional voltage vectors leads to large torque and flux ripples, while the weighting factor needs to be designed. Therefore, a dual torque duty cycle MPTC based on the extended voltage vector is proposed in this paper. First, a dual torque duty cycle MPTC that eliminates the weighting factor is implemented after analyzing the impact of various weighting factors on control performance. The stator flux and electromagnetic torque are converted into the equivalent active torque and reactive torque by the instantaneous power theory, and the cost function is redesigned. On this basis, a duty cycle MPTC based on the extended voltage vector is studied, which expands the set of candidate voltage vectors and optimizes the candidate voltage vectors selection, to enhance the steady-state performance while reducing computational complexity. Experiments verify that this method has small torque and flux ripples, no weighting factor and low complexity.

Aiming at the problem of bad real-time performance caused by the large calculation of the finite control set model predictive torque control(MPTC), a data-driven method for MPTC of the permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is proposed. The data produced by PMSM-MPTC system are used to train DNN to learn its selective laws and then replace it to select the optimal voltage vector. This paper also analyzes the data-driven out-of-control problems caused by the difference between the steady data and dynamic data of the MPTC and solves the above issue by extending and balancing the data set, which further proves the feasibility of the data-driven MPTC. The simulation experiments show that the torque ripple, stator flux ripple and the system switching frequency of the data-driven MPTC are further reduced, indicating has certain superiority. model predictive torque control (MPTC) is emerging as a high-performance control strategy for induction motor (IM) drives, due to its intuitive nature, flexibility to incorporate constraints and quick dynamic response. However, the implementation of MPTC requires high computational ability and the use of single voltage vector during one control period fails to reduce the torque ripple to the minimal value. This study proposes an improved MPTC for IM drives with reduced torque ripple and low complexity. On the basis of the relationship between stator current and stator flux, the complicated current prediction for each voltage vector is eliminated, reducing the control complexity significantly. torque ripple reduction is achieved by allocating only a fraction of control period to the active vector selected from conventional MPTC, whereas the rest of time is allocated for a null vector. Two kinds of methods for optimising the duty ratio of the active vector are proposed and evaluated in detail. Presented experimental results prove that, compared with conventional MPTC, the proposed MPTC achieves better steady-state performance by reducing the torque ripple significantly. Meanwhile, the quick dynamic response of conventional MPTC is reserved.

Hybrid excited axial field flux-switching permanent magnet (HEAFFSPM) machine is a novel stator excitation hybrid excited synchronous machine, which combines the advantages of the axial field flux-switching permanent magnet machine and wound field machine. In this paper, two model predictive torque control (MPTC) methods with flux-adjusting strategy implementation for the HEAFFSPM machine, including the MPTC and MPTC with duty cycle control (MPTC-DCC) by optimizing the active voltage vector duration to reduce the torque and flux ripples, are proposed and comparatively investigated. Based on the theoretical analysis, a discrete-time model of the HEAFFSPM machine is established. Considering the flux-enhancing/-weakening strategies, the different multi-objective cost functions are designed. The multiple right weight coefficients are analyzed and chosen to optimize the operating performance of the drive system. The results indicate that the proposed MPTC-DCC method reduces the torque and flux ripples significantly compared with MPTC method, and the drive system has better steady performance. Meanwhile, the load capability in the whole speed region is improved and the constant power operating range is broadened by using the proposed flux-adjusting strategy.

Recently, model predictive torque control (MPTC) has received more and more attention in the field of induction motor (IM) drives due to its fast torque response. However, in the traditional MPTC method, the torque reference in the cost function is generated by the proportional-integral (PI) controller, thus the torque reference's generation rate is not fast when the load torque is given suddenly. This paper investigates a model predictive torque control based on a disturbance observer for induction motor drives. The disturbance observer is used as the feed-forward compensation part for the PI controller, and it not only improves the torque reference's rate, but enhances the system load disturbance rejection ability. The simulation results demonstrate the correctness and the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A novel model predictive torque control (MPTC) strategy for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system driven is proposed by three phase eight-switch fault tolerant inverter. The mathematical model of the three phase eight-switch inverter and PMSM is established through the running mode of the driving system;the improved MPTC strategy is used to reduce the complexity of value design, the total harmonic distortion (THD) value of the stator current, the flux and torque ripples. Meanwhile, the fault tolerant control with current feedback characteristics in this paper can effectively suppress the adverse effects on system operation caused by the maldistribution of DC side bus capacitor voltage. The simulation result shows that the method can ensure the reliable and stable operation of the eight switched fault tolerant inverter PMSM system, which not only has good dynamic performance, strong anti-interference and robustness, but also can reduce the switching loss and the total harmonic distortion (THD) value of the stator current.

Hybrid excited axial field flux-switching permanent magnet (AFFSPM) (HEAFFSPM) machine is a novel stator-exciting hybrid excitation machine, which combines the advantages AFFSPM machine and wound-field excited machine. In this paper, an improved model predictive torque control (MPTC) method with duty cycle control by optimizing the active voltage vector duration is proposed for the HEAFFSPM machine drive system to reduce torque and flux ripples. The results indicate that the proposed control methods reduce the torque and flux ripples significantly compared with traditional MPTC, and the control system has better steady performance. Meanwhile, the load capacity is increased and the range of speed regulation is broadened.

Due to inherently double salient structure and saturated magnetic circuit, the switched reluctance machines (SRMs) can generate unacceptable torque ripple, which limits their application for more electric aircraft (MEA). This paper presents a low-measurement effort but effective method to reduce torque ripple. First, a torque-balance measurement method is presented to obtain the partial flux-linkage characteristics. Then, a mathematic model is proposed to describe the entire flux-linkage and torque characteristics. Based on the proposed mathematic model, a novel model predictive torque control is implemented to minimize the torque ripple with flux-based torque estimation. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Outer loop PI controllers have been widely applied before the inner model predictive torque control (MPTC) to determine the torque reference, which could increase the number of tuning parameters for the total control scheme. In this paper, to simplify the structure of total control scheme and improve the performance of MPTC in dual three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor (DTP-PMSM), the conventional PI controller is replaced by a nonlinear function to determine the output torque reference, which has only one adjustable parameter. Then, the additional offset is necessary to compensate the speed residual error. Furthermore, a torque load observer is designed to observe the torque and determine the value of offset. Finally, the simulation is given, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
