Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are widely used because of their high power density and fast dynamic response. Sensorless control technology can reduce the cost brought about by the use of sensors in motors and can improve the accuracy and reliability of system operation. This paper has developed an adaptive system (MRAS) based on vector control and non-building control of synchronous engines with permanent magnets. The method is modeled in Matlab/Simulink environment and the results of simulation analysis are derived. © 2023 IEEE.

Sensorless control of fault-tolerant permanent magnet vernier rim-driven motor based on improved model reference adaptive system

To enhance the accuracy of rotor position and speed estimation in the sensorless vector control system of a fault-tolerant permanent magnet vernier rim-driven motor (FTPMV-RDM), a fuzzy fast super-twisting algorithm based model reference adaptive system (FFSTA-MRAS) method is proposed. A full-order current observer is designed to improve the estimation accuracy in an adjustable model in a FFSTA-MRAS. It incorporates the adjustable model and a calibration link to form a closed-loop estimation by introducing a correction term. The proportional integral (PI) adaptive law in a conventional MRAS is substituted with a fast super-twisting algorithm. To overcome the difficulty of selecting the sliding mode gain parameters in the fast super-twisting algorithm, a fuzzy control algorithm is introduced to obtain a reasonable sliding mode gain in real time, which can solve the contradictory problem of accuracy and chattering. Finally, a hardware experimental platform utilizing a StarSim controller is developed and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has superiority in terms of accurate estimation and minimum chattering under both healthy and one phase open-circuit fault conditions.

-These days, there are extensive signifies to the evolution of newfound control procedures like model predictive control. The finite-state predictive thrust control (FSPTC) for LIMs is still not deftly addressed by scholars and limited research was acted to exploit the FSPTC for LIM drive systems. Therefore, the current study proposes a novel finite-state predictive thrust control (NFSPTC) for linear induction motors (LIMs) with reduced numbers of voltage vectors (VVs) in the prediction phase. The NFSPTC utilizes the conventional direct thrust control (DTC) concept to reduce the required VVs from eight to only four which consist of two active vectors and two zero vectors. Decreasing the number of predicted VVs leads to a significant reduction in computational time. Moreover, the weighting factor is removed to reduce the effort in selecting the best weighting factor. Since the LIM drive system can be succeeded by developing a sensorless speed estimation, the linear speed is estimated depending on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) before using actual sensors;thus, low cost can be attained. The suggested control approach is validated by simulation proofs based on a 3-kW arc machine. The gained findings clarified the effectiveness of the proposed four VVs control over the eight VVs procedure in dipping the thrust ripple. Besides, using the four VVs control under variable speed and fixed thrust load, the execution time was decreased by 50%. Furthermore, the proposed control procedures ensued in maintaining the primary flux linkage constant alongside succeeding a glowing-tracking speed profile throughout the tackled speed and thrust load variations."

This article aims first to propose an improved space vector modulation-direct torque control in order to enhance the induction motor performance using: (1) a super-twisting controller and (2) a novel model reference adaptive system based on a sliding mode observer. Second, due to the complexity of the suggested control algorithm, this article deals also with a hardware implementation on a field-programmable gate array board. Indeed, the field-programmable gate array is mainly chosen to reduce the execution time, thanks to its parallel processing which significantly improves the quality of the control system by reducing the sampling period, and consequently the delays in the control loop. Besides, the super-twisting controller is proposed to enhance the speed regulation loop which is a second-order sliding mode control technique that uses a continuous control law to prevent the chattering phenomenon induced by the first-order sliding mode control technique. Moreover, the high performance control requires information about the rotor speed which can be obtained by a sensor. Generally, the use of the speed sensor increases the system cost and size, and reduces its system reliability. Therefore, a combination between a model reference adaptive system observer and a sliding mode observer is suggested for speed estimation and overcoming the sensitivity of the classical model reference adaptive system observer against uncertainties and stator resistance variations. The performance of the proposed space vector modulation-direct torque control-super-twisting controller with the model reference adaptive system-sliding mode observer algorithm of an induction motor is verified through simulation, hardware co-simulation and experimental validation utilizing a field-programmable gate array Virtex-5-ML507 board. The performance of the suggested sensorless control method is compared also with other recent published schemes.

In order to improve the accuracy of the speed and angle estimation of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) in the sensorless mode, this paper firstly proposes a multi-sliding mode scheme based on model reference adaptive system (MRAS) with proportional integral (PI) control. The current disturbance of the sensorless method is suppressed by the multi-sliding mode based on MRAS method, thus reducing the disturbance of the current to the PI and indirectly improving the current anti-interference of the PI. Meanwhile, the quantitative analysis of the current disturbance by the MRAS based on multi-sliding mode scheme is presented in detail. Then, the suppression capability of different sliding-mode schemes is discussed. A New Speed Control Approach of Linear Induction Motor Based on Robust RST Controller and model reference adaptive system Estimator

In this paper, a new model of linear induction motor including the impact of the end-effect on the motor performances is proposed. Moreover, a new strategy of control approach based on the Field-Oriented Control (FOC) technique is suggested and investigated. The proposed approach can provide a robust control strategy and overcome the limitations imposed by FOC technique, which suffers with some drawbacks in linear induction motor (LIM) such as sensitivity to parameter variations and imperfect dynamic tracking performance. In this context, the developed technique combines the benefits provided by the both approaches polynomial (RST) regulator and model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer, in order to achieve a robust controller by minimizing the external disturbances effects and reducing the influence of parameter variations. Moreover, it is revealed that the proposed conrol approach enables an improved rotor speed response with a reduced number of overshoot values as function of mass variations, where the reccorded maximum overshoot value is 8%. Besides, the devopped controller demonstrates a reducded rise and settling time values under wide applied external force conditions. This confirms that the proposed MRAS-RST technique offers a good dynamic response against the parameter variations. The accuracy and control performance of the proposed technique is checked and validated using Matlab/Simulink environment software tool. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed estimator with improved better robustness for RST controller for different reference tracking and disturbance rejection parameters. These significant results make the proposed approach a promising technique dedicated to the design of high-performance controller, which is highly suitable for industrial and electrical applications.

The model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is effective for speed control in sensorless Induction Motor (IM) drives, particularly at zero and very low speeds. This study enhances MRAS's resilience and dynamic performance by integrating an adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference system (ANFIS) controller into sensorless vector-controlled IM drives. The research addresses challenges related to parameter uncertainties, load variations, and external disturbances through the combination of MRAS and ANFIS. The ANFIS controller enhances dynamic performance by adjusting its parameters based on the error between estimated and measured rotor speeds, which improves reference speed tracking and ensures smoother drive operation. This integration of ANFIS with MRAS reduces the sensitivity of the sensorless control system to parameter variations, such as changes in motor parameters or load torque, thereby enhancing system stability. The primary goal is to maintain stability and mitigate the impact of parameter variations on the sensorless control system. The proposed MRAS-ANFIS scheme was evaluated using MATLAB and compared with existing systems. This paper presents an improved sensorless control of a Salient-Pole Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (SPMSM) based on fuzzy logic model reference adaptive system. For this purpose, an observer based on a model reference adaptive system is utilized and the respective analytical model is established to receive the speed and the position of the rotor. To accurately determine the rotor position, the fuzzy logic method is adopted, and the control coefficients of the model reference are determined online based on the governing rules of the control system. The presented method is simulated via MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The simulation results confirm that the presented model can successfully improve the accuracy of tracking rotor position in a shorter time frame.

Given the traditional integer-order model reference adaptive system (IOMRAS) with large speed estimation error, slow response speed and poor performance against external interference under the direct force control (DFC) of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), a fractional-order model reference adaptive system (FOMRAS) algorithm is proposed, which adopts the concept of fractional calculus and fractional-order Lyapunov stability theory. Through analysis and calculation, the fractional adaptive law is used to control the system in speed identification, which improves the speed tracking performance, reduces the oscillation of force response and ensures that the estimated value quickly approaches the real value. Then it is applied to DFC to realize speed sensorless control. The simulation results show that the speed sensorless PMLSM-DFC based on FOMRAS has significantly enhanced anti-disturbance performance and good dynamic and static performance, thus ensuring the stability of the system.

Real-time identification of partnership for a new generation of vehicles battery model parameters based on the model reference adaptive system

Partnership for a new generation of vehicles (PNGV) model is a conventional battery equivalent circuit model (ECM). However, identifying the best parameters for this model is a challenge. In this study, the PNGV model is transformed into a directly identifiable difference equation to identify its parameters. Subsequently, the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is used to realize the real-time identification of the model parameters. The identification accuracy of the MRAS is found to be superior to that of the recursive extended least square algorithm. For a single hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC), the PNGV model identified by the MRAS can achieve a high-precision terminal voltage estimation. For lithium iron phosphate, lithium titanate, and nickel-metal hydride batteries, the root mean square errors are 0.024, 0.048, and 0.020 V, respectively. Besides, the real-time state of charge (SOC) estimation can be realized by the identified open-circuit voltage (OCV). The average errors of the three batteries are only -0.02, -0.01, and -0.01, respectively. Since the PNGV model has a capacity of describing the change of OCV with the current accumulation effect, the model is only suitable for simulating single HPPC or positive-negative pulses with equal amplitude and not for other current pulses. This is a major drawback of the PNGV model. The real-time PNGV model parameters identification method proposed in this study can provide a solid foundation for various state estimation of a battery. The identified OCV realized the real-time SOC estimation and discussed the deficiencies of the PNGV model.
