In this work we analyse the performance of a joint coding-precoding scheme for OFDM systems over fading channels. The design of the precoder is based on the information redistribution of the input modulated symbols amongst all the output precoded symbols. The proposed precoder decreases the variance of the instantaneous noise power at the receiver produced by the channel variability. In this sense, the noise at the output of the receiver deprecoding block can be considered as gaussian causing an improvement in the performance of the channel coding scheme employed in the system. The proposed system is evaluated under realistic radio channels which present multipath frequency-selective fadings and are affected by Doppler spread.

C/PPS is a flexible multibit per symbol modulation format. It has the same architecture as PPM, but has greater bandwidth efficiency. It can utilize a code set to maximize the data rate of a particular user or distribute its codes to various users at different data rates. In the latter case, it is important to consider the associated effects on QoS. C/PPS is less sensitive to synchronization than PPM because the code defines the slot, independent of time-of-arrival. More research on virtual quadrants and multiuser detection is needed for C/PPS because the C/PPS transmission is broadcast-like and all decoders have signals.

IEEE802.16e based mobile WiMAX network provides a promising technology for broadband wireless access. Among all types of services supported by WiMAX, real time video multicast has attracted much attention. However, because of the absence of feedback channel for multicast service, it is challenging to provide link adaptation and resource allocation under the situation with diverse receiver distribution. The legacy method - using the most robust modulation mode for multicasting service, or select a leader as the representative - can not accurately reflect the variety of channel condition. In this paper, we firstly analyze the overhead problem caused by the periodic downlink channel quality report, then propose a light-weighted terminal triggered feedback mechanism to reduce the signaling overhead. Furthermore, with the combined consideration of layered video coding and adaptive modulation and coding, a utility-based resource allocation approach is proposed. The utility function is relating with the reception satisfaction and spectrum efficiency. The scheduling algorithm dynamically adjusts layer number and its bandwidth according to receiver distribution. Simulation results show the proposed feedback mechanism can greatly reduce the signaling overhead while maintain the accurate channel condition report. The scheduling algorithm can not only improve the link adaptation capability following the receivers' expectation and program popularity, but also outperform the fixed allocation method in term of system utility.

The work presented in this paper aims to establish whether a combination of the Logarithm of Likelihood Ratio (LLR), Turbo Codes and modulation Schemes enhances high and efficient performance in communication systems by minimizing transmission error rates for any given bit combination. Performance Analysis and Interpolation of Turbo codes over Additive White Gaussian Noise and Rayleigh Fading Channels will be explored. This highly combinatorial technique should influence optimum performance in Broadband communication systems. Computed results are presented for various parameters employed in the formulations outlined throughout this paper.

Space-time modulation exploiting diversity or/and coding gains has been a major focus in high-speed wireless communications systems against channel fading. To avoid channel estimation, we employ noncoherent space-time modulation in single-carrier (SC) block systems over channel frequency-selectivity in this Letter. Capitalizing on multi-channel input-output relation in time domain, we construct space-time codes of constant signaling amplitude by means of complex orthogonal sequences to achieve maximal diversity gain along with coding advantage. Numerical result suggests that SC block system can outperform its orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) counterpart in terms of block error rate (BLER) under the same simulated scenario.

The objective of this research work is to design and construct RFID tag for fish identification using RFID antennas. By logging on the identified data in PIC, it is more secure than other RFID devices. And also it is easily programmable and reliable method. In this work, tag's data for fish identification are created in MS access database engine. ActiveX Comport is built on top of serial interface driver with Visual Basic programming language for communication from EEPROM of tag circuit to PC. PIC16F628 is used for commissioning identified tag's data into EEPROM and modulating the tag's data in EEPROM with 135 kHz carrier from the reader. PIC program is written in Assembly language. The best reading angle of fish identification data between the antennas of RFID tag and reader is measured by spectra analyzer. The experimental result shows that the minimum attenuation can be obtained at the reading angle of (0deg) and(90deg) than any other reading angles at the maximum readable distance of 30 cm.

We consider a general burst block orthogonal space- time coded CPM modulation in MIMO slowly fading Rayleigh channel. The modulated signal has multidimensional constellation waveforms. The optimal receiver must perform a multidimensional matched filtering on its front-end. This operation is highly demanding on the processing computational resources. We derive sub-optimal complexity reducing receiver linear preprocessor which reduces the dimensionality of the signal. We analytically derive the optimal linear projector matrix for several cases of the free trellis path and its termination. The determinant optimization is shown to lead to an eigenvector problem solution. It is a two-fold joint optimization problem with 2 mutually coupled domains (similar to a decoding in a parametric channel) with number of solution options with generally high complexity. We adopt simplified approach decoupling this 2 domains. As an example, we apply the procedure for a particular case of one-dimensional subspace projector and Burst Alamouti coded MSK modulation as a special case of STC CPM modulation.

This paper proposes using adaptive puncturing for rate-adaptive OFDMA systems utilizing turbo codes. The scheme is based on adaptively puncturing a single code word (SCW) and hence adaptively changing the rate within the codeword. We compare the SCW against the multiple code-words (MCWs) scheme where different rates are obtained by separate encoding, puncturing, and interleaving on a per-tile basis. Noticeable gains are obtained over the MCW scheme due to the use of larger turbo block sizes and hence larger interleavers. The SCW has around 1 dB gain in goodput compared to MCWs, with much improved BER performance. We also propose a novel rate selection scheme for the SCW which we call recursive mutual information effective SNR mapping (R-MIESM) and compare it against the conventional MIESM scheme. The R-MIESM provides further goodput performance gains for the SCW compared to the MIESM method.

In this work, we present a new optical routing framework, O-Router for future low-power on-chip optical interconnect integration utilizing silicon compatible nano-photonic devices. We formulate the optical layer routing problem as the minimization of total on-chip optical modulator cost (laser power consumption) with integer linear programming technique under various detection constraints. Key techniques for variable number reduction and routing speed-up are also explored and utilized. O-Router is tested on optical netlist benchmarks modified from top global nets of ISPD98/08 routing benchmarks. O-Router experimental results are compared with conventional minimum spanning tree algorithm, demonstrating an average of over 50% improvement in terms of total on-chip optical layer power reduction.

We consider the problem of single image object motion deblurring from a static camera. It is well-known that deblurring of moving objects using a traditional camera is ill-posed, due to the loss of high spatial frequencies in the captured blurred image. A coded exposure camera modulates the integration pattern of light by opening and closing the shutter within the exposure time using a binary code. The code is chosen to make the resulting point spread function (PSF) invertible, for best deconvolution performance. However, for a successful deconvolution algorithm, PSF estimation is as important as PSF invertibility. We show that PSF estimation is easier if the resulting motion blur is smooth and the optimal code for PSF invertibility could worsen PSF estimation, since it leads to non-smooth blur. We show that both criterions of PSF invertibility and PSF estimation can be simultaneously met, albeit with a slight increase in the deconvolution noise. We propose design rules for a code to have good PSF estimation capability and outline two search criteria for finding the optimal code for a given length. We present theoretical analysis comparing the performance of the proposed code with the code optimized solely for PSF invertibility. We also show how to easily implement coded exposure on a consumer grade machine vision camera with no additional hardware. Real experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed codes for motion deblurring.
