Introduction: Understanding the latest guideline recommendations is crucial for healthcare professionals to apply statin therapy effectively. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of an educational intervention in enhancing the awareness and understanding of physicians and pharmacists concerning risk assessment of Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and the role of statin therapy. Methods: This pre- and post-intervention study was conducted in Sana'a, Yemen's capital city, at the University of Science and Technology Hospital. The study was done between 11/2021-12/2021, and two separate educational sessions were held. The McNemar's test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were employed as necessary. Results: Participants' awareness of the Framingham CVD risk calculator improved significantly from 40.4% pre-intervention to 78.7% postintervention. Similarly, understanding of the parameters used in the 10-year ASCVD Risk calculator rose from 46.8% pre-intervention to 76.6% post-intervention. The ability to identify high, moderate, and low-intensity statin therapy, for instance, increased from 34% to 63.8% post-intervention. Regarding statins' contraindications, safety, and efficacy monitoring parameters, pre-intervention knowledge was unsatisfactory, and the educational intervention improved it significantly (p <0.05). For physicians, the median ASCVD risk assessment knowledge score was significantly improved from 4 (IQR = 3-5) pre-intervention to 7 (6.25-8) immediately post-intervention, while the statin therapy clinical knowledge median score significantly improved from 3 (1.25-6.5) to 9 (7.25-14.75) post-education intervention, p-values were 0.002 and 0.003;respectively. For pharmacists, a similar significant improvement ( p <0.05) in the overall knowledge scores for both ASCVD risk assessment and statin therapy was noted. Conclusion: The educational intervention improved participants' knowledge of statin therapy and ASCVD risk assessment.

Adaptive spectral trend based optimized EWT for monitoring the parameters of multiple power quality disturbances

The growing penetration of renewable energy sources leads to power quality disturbances (PQDs) being multiple. The real-time monitoring of the parameters of multiple power quality disturbances (MPQDs) can help electricity distributors better control power quality problems. In this paper, an adaptive spectral trend-based optimized empirical wavelet transform (EWT) is proposed to analyze MPQDs. First, the upper and lower envelopes of the signal frequency spectrum are fitted by piecewise cubic Hermite interpolation. Then the sum of the upper and lower envelopes is halved as a spectral trend. These steps are repeated until all peak-to-peak distances are greater than the key threshold, indicating that the spectral trend has already been optimized. Third, main frequency components are calculated based on peaks of the optimal spectral trend, which can be used as a basis for spectrum segmentation. Eventually, the components decomposed by EWT represent different disturbance ele-ments, whose parameters can be further calculated by Hilbert transform (HT). To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, two databases are applied for analysis: synthetic signals, and recording signals by the experimental platform. At the same time, four advanced algorithms are used for comparison, which are scale -space optimized EWT (SOEWT), improved EWT (IEWT), variational mode decomposition (VMD) and fast Stockwell transform (FST). The results showed that the proposed method can accurately segment the spectrum and prevent the inappropriate segmentation of the original EWT so that it can monitor the disturbance pa-rameters with high precision. In addition, the proposed algorithm has a simple computation.

Population Pharmacokinetics of Intravenous Methotrexate in Patients with Hematological Malignancies: Utilization of Routine Clinical monitoring parameters

Background and Objective Clinical response to methotrexate in cancer is variable and depends on several factors including serum drug exposure. This study aimed to develop a population pharmacokinetic model describing methotrexate disposition in cancer patients using retrospective chart review data available from routine clinical practice. Methods A retrospective review of medical records was conducted for cancer patients in Qatar. Relevant data (methotrexate dosing/concentrations from multiple occasions, patient history, and laboratory values) were extracted and analyzed using NONMEM VII (R). A population pharmacokinetic model was developed and used to estimate inter- individual and inter-occasion variability terms on methotrexate pharmacokinetic parameters, as well as patient factors affecting methotrexate pharmacokinetics. Results Methotrexate disposition was described by a twocompartment model with clearance (CL) of 15.7 L/h and central volume of distribution (V-c) of 79.2 L. Patient weight and hematocrit levels were significant covariates on methotrexate Vc and CL, respectively. Methotrexate CL changed by 50 % with changes in hematocrit levels from 23 to 50 %. Inter-occasion variability in methotrexate CL was estimated for patients administered the drug on multiple occasions (48 and 31 % for 2nd and 3rd visits, respectively). Conclusion Therapeutic drug monitoring data collected during routine clinical practice can provide a useful tool for understanding factors affecting methotrexate pharmacokinetics. Patient weight and hematocrit levels may play a clinically important role in determining methotrexate serum exposure and dosing requirements. Future prospective studies are needed to validate results of the developed model and evaluate its usefulness to predict methotrexate exposure and optimize dosing regimens.

Reducing the monitoring parameters of fish pond water quality

A study was conducted at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, USA to reduce monitoring parameters in the evaluation of fish pond water qualities. Concentrations of settleable solids (Set), turbidity (Tur), total suspended solids (TSS), particulate organic matter (POM), chlorophyll-a (Chl), 5-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total phosphorus (TP), and total nitrogen (TN) were measured in 50 fish ponds. The results of correlation analysis showed that there was a significant correlation (p < 0.01) between every pair of the eight water quality variables. By building regression models and calculating the prediction accuracy of the models, POM was selected as the most suitable variable for evaluating the water quality of fish ponds, predicting Set, Tur, TSS, Chl, BOD, TP, and TN with the lowest median of absolute percentage error (MdAPE) of 22%, 34%, 20%, 31%, 23%, 33%, and 31%, respectively. Use of POM as a surrogate for the other analyses measured in this study could result in a savings of both time and money. Statement of relevance: This study developed a way to reduce the number of water quality of fish pond, so aqua-culture farmers can save not little money and time to know the status of water quality and comply with the standards for aquaculture effluents. Digital monitoring, Reporting, and Verification Technologies Supporting Carbon Credit-Generating Water Security Programs: State of the Art and Technology Roadmap

The voluntary carbon market can become a productive mechanism for channeling performance-based financing toward both water security and climate adaptation and mitigation challenges. Typically, carbon credit methodologies support projects that directly avoid or remove emissions, including forest preservation and renewable energy generation. As such, emission avoidance or carbon sequestration monitoring can be conducted directly and in the same location as the projects. However, our analysis across five carbon credit-generating water subsectors identifies four novel monitoring parameters that, while critical for evaluating project impact and calculating carbon credits, are not direct measures of emission reductions, avoidance, or sequestration. We identify these novel parameters and explore how digital technologies can enhance monitoring, reporting, and verification of these parameters. We identify that microbial water quality and drinking water access can be monitored directly and reported remotely using sensor-based technologies, while irrigation management can be tracked using soil moisture sensors and satellite-based evapotranspiration data, while instream water quality can monitored using in situ sensors and land management models. Advancing these technology capabilities and improving data security, reliability, and accessibility can strengthen the credibility of water-sector carbon credit methodologies, ultimately promoting financially, programmatically, and climatically sustainable projects.

Shaping multifunctional carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites has gained significant attention in recent times. This study investigates the progress made in developing environmentally friendly techniques for shaping CFRP composites. The focus is on achieving sustainable manufacturing processes while maintaining the desirable properties of CFRP composites. Therefore, this review article examines the impact of machining, tools, monitoring, and cooling techniques on CFRP composites. Delamination factors are also considered from a materials engineering standpoint. The objective is to meet diverse application needs and enhance CFRP machining processes, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices in shaping the future of composite materials.

Solar still is the simplest form of solar desalination system, which allows freshwater production from a clean source of energy (solar radiation). Major research in this area focuses on improv-ing the amount of daily production of desalinated water. Thus, a compromise between produc-tivity, simplicity and economic feasibility should be taken into account. This work presents a brief overview of solar desalination systems existing in the literature, followed by a comparative study between different solar still designs. A new automatic solar still system is proposed, it consists of using a low-cost microcontroller with the Internet of Things for real-time monitoring of the solar still parameters (such as temperatures, relative humidity, and daily production of distilled water).

Over the last few decades, many research and commercial developments have been implemented to measure the cardiac output parameter. One of the most important requirements is the application to non-invasive technologies that avoid the introduction of a measurement tool that violates the integrity of tissues, blood vessels or human organs. Rejection of invasive methods prevents possible trauma, infection, and pain for the patient. Also, non-invasive technologies provide continues real-time monitoring hemodynamic parameters. The article discusses the measurement procedures and methods for calculating the cardiac output parameter using existing methods. The existing methods are considered not only in terms of the possible accuracy of the values obtained, but also taking into account the advantages, disadvantages and limits of the measurement procedure in clinical practice. New, non-invasive cardiac output measurement techniques are already available in clinical practice, but the question of their accuracy is still not the only commonly accepted. In article also considered methods of estimation of reliability of received results of measurements by new developed, or existing methods and technics of measurement cardiac output parameter. Considered the necessary conditions for application of new methods of measurement in clinical practice.

The results of the development and experience of operation of a modernized charging system of the capacitor bank of the Iskra-5 laser facility are presented. The main performance characteristics of the devices that are included in the charging system are presented. A method for creating the hardware and software for the remote control and monitoring of the parameters of charging devices is described. The serviceability of the charging system during the operation of the facility is evaluated.
