One of the relatively new study topics in Vehicle Routing is the Cash Transportation Problem. This problem takes into consideration the security in planning vehicle routes. Few papers have focused on the cash transportation problem. Minimizing the travel cost and/or minimizing the transportation risk are the objective functions considered in these problems. This paper is the first overview of the cash transportation problem addressed in the literature. We classify these problems into two categories, mono-objective and multi-objective problems.

This paper deals with a recent approach that tackles the product and the supply chain design issues at the same time and focuses more precisely on the supplier selection problem. The product specificities and the constraints of suppliers are both integrated into product design phase. Usually, the supplier selection problem involves multiple and conflicting objectives. In this work, a multi objective model is formulated to minimize supplying and holding costs of product components and quality rejected items. We study the case of an existent product redesign and we address the problem of supplier selection. Design team proposes several alternatives to improve the product and the aim is to select the best product design with its optimal set of components' suppliers. Thus, a multi-objective programming model for supplier selection is developed. Picking a set of Pareto front for multi-objective optimization problems require robust and efficient methods that can search an entire space. To solve the model, we used a non dominant sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). A numerical experiment is provided at the end to show the applicability of the methodology and to compare it with the simple weighed sum method.

Track planning for drones has been a common problem. In order to ensure that the UAV can fly long distance in accordance with the predetermined path, it is necessary to set calibration points on the flight path to correct the sensor errors of the UAV. This problem can be abstracted into a path planning problem and solved by ant colony algorithm. Considering the uncertainty of correction failure in these calibration points. This paper presents an improved ant colony algorithm and set up the "Enhanced pheromone volatilization strategy" to ensure that the UAV could reach the destination with the greatest possibility in this uncertain situation. We verify our algorithm on public data sets**. On data set 1, our algorithm has a 100% probability of reaching the destination, while the traditional ant colony algorithm has only a 61% probability of reaching the destination. On data set 2, our algorithm has a 56% probability of reaching the destination, while the traditional ant colony algorithm cannot find a path can reach the destination. The algorithm code*** in this paper is simple to implement, strong robustness, and can be extended to other scenarios.

Grain-for-green policy and its impacts on grain supply in West China

China's grain-for-green policy of converting steep cultivated land to forest and grassland is one of the most important initiatives to develop its western inland regions. Using a multi-objective programming model, this study assessed the impacts of this policy in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River. In addition to the strategic planning of converting cultivated land to forest and grassland and its associated impacts, three other scenarios were simulated. Results showed that impacts on grain supply at the national level were in the range of 2-3%. These results suggest that the proposed policy might not have a major impact on China's future grain supply and the world grain market. At the local level, however, impacts could be significant. In many staff-assignment problems, a large variety of requirements has to be considered when assigning employees to work shifts. As the importance of the requirements is often described in a hierarchical manner, lexicographic goal programming has been used to minimize the number of requirement violations. The resulting schedules are in general of high quality with respect to requirement violations but may lack acceptance by employees because of an unfair distribution of the violations. We introduce a novel approach for lexicographic goal programming that allows to improve an existing schedule in terms of fairness without deteriorating its quality with regard to requirement violations. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated for a test set derived from real-world data.

The Tomahawk Land-Attack Missile (TLAM) is the long-range precision weapon of choice in strike warfare against strategic targets for U. S. military forces. Predesignation is the process of determining which ship or submarine will fire which TLAM missiles in support of an authorized attack upon specified targets. This thesis revisits the mathematical models and algorithms developed by previous NPS faculty and students to optimally conduct the allocation of TLAMs to firing units. We incorporate all the problem specifications addressed by previous heuristic algorithms for the problem, and compare our results to those in publicly available test cases. We show that our models can be solved optimally in affordable time for most of the cases and make provisions to establish accurate bounds in the other cases.

In this thesis, we study real-time routing of an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) in a two- dimensional dynamic environment. The UAV starts from a base point, visits all targets and returns to the base point, while all targets change their locations during the mission period. We find the best route for the route planner (RP) considering two objectives; minimization of distance and minimization of radar detection threat. We develop a real-time algorithm to find the UAV's most preferred route for a RP who has an underlying linear or quadratic preference function. In this algorithm, we structure the nondominated frontiers of the trajectories between each target pair and find a route using these trajectories. The algorithm updates the route of the UAV each time the UAV arrives at a target. As the UAV must return to the base target at the end of its journey, we solve a multi-objective shortest Hamiltonian path problem to find a route rather than a multi-objective traveling salesperson problem each time the UAV visits a target. To reduce the computational burden, we develop k-closest heuristic. In this heuristic, instead of structuring the nondominated frontiers between all target pairs, for each target, we select k closest targets and structure only the nondominated frontiers of these k targets. In addition, we develop an adaptive algorithm to determine the value of k. For the RP who has a quadratic preference function, we choose among? nondominated trajectories for each target pair to find a route. We consider the cases? = 1 and? > 1, seperately. We demonstrate all algorithms on different examples.

In today's dynamic and rapidly evolving business landscape, collaborative supply chain management has become a research hotspot in enterprise management. This paper aims to develop a comprehensive supply chain collaboration system by integrating the combination weighting method and multi-objective programming. The critical focus areas encompass fabric supplier selection, order allocation, and product delivery. An evaluation system tailored to the enterprise's characteristics is established for fabric suppliers to achieve this. The comprehensive weighting method is utilized to assign weights to evaluation indicators. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is subsequently used to rank the suppliers. Additionally, considering the unique attributes of the clothing and textile industries, a model is developed for order allocation and product delivery. This model aims to minimize the overall expenses of the supply chain, maximize the weighted value of fabrics considering suppliers' priorities, and meet the order demand from distributors. The applicability and effectiveness of the proposed supply chain collaboration system are validated through actual case studies and the utilization of the Gurobi solver. © 2023 IEEE.

Traditional logistics management has not focused on environmental concerns when designing and optimizing food supply chain networks. However, the protection of the environment is one of the main factors that should be considered based on environmental protection regulations of countries. In this thesis, environmental concerns with a mathematical model are investigated to design and configure a multi-period, multi-product, multi-echelon green meat supply chain network. A multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming formulation is developed to optimize three objectives simultaneously: minimization of the total cost, minimization of the total CO2 emissions released from transportation, and maximization of the total capacity utilization. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed optimization model, a green meat supply chain network for Southern Ontario, Canada is designed. A solution approach based on augmented εε-constraint method is developed for solving the proposed model. As a result, a set of Pareto-optimal solutions is obtained. Finally, the impacts of uncertainty on the proposed model are investigated using several decision trees. Optimization of a food supply chain, particularly a meat supply chain, based on multiple objectives under uncertainty using decision trees is a new approach in the literature.

Companies adopt a customer-centric approach to maintain their competitive position or dominate the market. In this context, managers are pivotal in navigating the competitive markets in accomplishing these goals. Setting targets and conducting performance evaluations are vital for managers’ long-term success. This study aims to optimise customer evaluation and manager assignment in the defence industry. An integrated approach utilising the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is employed to conduct a comprehensive market analysis and conduct this evaluation. A bi-objective integer programming model is formulated to maximise total integrated scores and potential returns. The efficient number of visits is determined by combining multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) and multi-Choice Conic Goal programming (MCCGP). This study offers an objective alternative to traditional survey-based evaluations by proposing a novel decision support system for Goal-Based Performance Appraisals (GBPA) of managers. The proposed approach yields performance values that are considerably more reliable than questionnaire results. Moreover, the proposed decision support system can effectively benefit employees across diverse sectors, extending beyond the confines of the defence industry. © 2023 The Author(s)
