This study aims to establish an integrated model of green supply chain network design in cloud computing environments. In this study, two levels are defined: supply chain design and virtual machine allocation. In the proposed two-stage model, the supply chain network design decision (leader level) is solved in the first stage by considering three objectives . minimizing the total costs, minimizing the carbon emission, and maximizing the satisfaction level of service (minimizing the transportation lead time). In the second stage, considering the information demand from the leader level, the placement of virtual machines to the supply chain servers (follower level) is established by minimization of energy consumption and maximization of the effectiveness (minimization of the power wastage) of the physical machine. A case study and experiments are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed methods.

Conciliating conflicting objectives using fuzzy sets in the Yaqui River hydro system, Sonora, Mexico.

Currently, hydraulic availability in some basins has already been paralleled or exceeded by agricultural use and other emergent uses, such as: industrial, urban, recreational, aquacultural, or hydropower generation use, among others. Hence, the opportunity to apply multi-objective programming tools comes up. These tools allow for the partial trade-off among different uses, offering another alternative to support the decision-making processes in the planning of water resources management. This paper presents the development and application of a novel technique for multi-objective programming applied to the Yaqui River reservoir System in Sonora. In this case, irrigation and hydropower generation were considered as the conflicting objectives. The Fuzzy Sets Method (proposed here), the Restricted Method (one of the most widely used), and the historic management, were compared, for a 33- to 39-year (1964-65 to 2003-04) planning horizon. The Fuzzy Sets results as compared to the Restrictive procedure, both for 33 years, showed that the first one solved the model in significantly fewer steps than the second one. Also, with the application of the model, it was found that the annual hydraulic availability average for irrigation use would decrease by 7.73% (from 2 560 hm(3) to 2 362 hm(3)), while total electric hydropower generation would be reduced by 11.27% (from 17 981395 MWh to 15 954 473 MWh). However, some studies showing an over-exploitation of surface water for irrigation in this period report a hydraulic availability of about 2 300 hm(3). On the other hand, although the total historical hydro-generation at El Novillo dam has been greater than that obtained from the model, only 46.58% was produced in coincidence with the interannual monthly behavior of the regional demand, while, with the model, a 92.56% of the electricity was produced in agreement with the power demand requirements. multi-period portfolio optimization using coherent fuzzy numbers in a credibilistic environment

In this paper, we use an extension of fuzzy numbers, called coherent fuzzy numbers, to model asset returns and an investor's perception of the stock market (pessimistic, optimistic, or neutral) simultaneously. Two multi-period multi-objective portfolio optimization models are formulated using mean absolute semi-deviation and Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR) as risk measures, respectively. We aim to provide more flexibility to the investor in specifying the risk tolerance and devise optimum investment plans for different investment horizons. The proposed models also incorporate bound, cardinality, and skewness constraints for each investment period to capture various stock market scenarios. A real-coded genetic algorithm is employed to solve the resultant models. Two real-life case studies involving 20 assets of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), India, and another involving 50 assets listed in the S&P 500 and NASDAQ-100 indexes have been provided to illustrate the efficacy and advantages of the models. An in-sample and out-of-sample analysis have been done for both the models to analyze the performance in the real-world scenario. The conclusion drawn from the analysis strongly emphasizes on accurately assessing the current stock market prospects, i.e., adopting the right attitude (pessimistic, optimistic, or neutral), is of paramount importance and must be included in the portfolio optimization problem.

Stochastic energy management in a renewable energy-based microgrid considering demand response program

Climate changes increase concerns about global warming caused by greenhouse gases and have also increased the focus and implementation of renewable energy sources (RESs) planning. One of the important RESs is tidal energy or tidal power, which is a form of hydropower that converts the energy obtained from tides into the electrical power. Although tidal power is still not widely used, this energy resource has the potential for the future electricity generation. This paper addresses the stochastic energy management in a microgrid considering RESs such as solar, wind and tidal sources in the presence of the demand response program and storage devices. The uncertainty of the RESs, demand, and electricity price is handled by Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). The model is a linear multi-objective optimization which the first objective aims to reduce the cost and the second aims to reduce the emission. Augmented ?-constraint approach is applied to solve the problem in the CPLEX/ GAMS software environment. The interactive fuzzy decision-making is applied to choose the best answer among the Pareto answers according to the planner criteria.

Collection management is an important duty of librarians. In the last years journal prices have increased and library decision-makers have been forced to consider cancelling some journal subscriptions as budgets have not increased always by the same ratio. This fact has made it essential to supply reliable and efficient measures about the importance of different journals for in-house users in order to help the decision-makers to cancel *** journal-use studies can be found in the literature providing methods for making these kinds of decisions, but usually they consider only one single and precise decision criterion. Nevertheless, it is common knowledge that any real decision usually considers more than one criterion, and so the problem of choosing a set of journals to cancel is compounded by the existence of conflicting criteria, such as the cost of the journal and demand for the *** predicting possible number of users of a certain journal is a complex task, the expert's judgments could be vital elements. Fuzzy Set theory could be a useful tool in dealing with these kinds of real decisions based on the expert's knowledge and characterized by some level of subjectivity, in which the decision-maker has imprecise and/or vague data and/or incomplete *** this paper a fuzzy bicriteria optimisation method is proposed to determine the optimal shape of the printed journal collection in a medical library in a Spanish public hospital. We jointly consider two criteria: maximising ausage functionand also anopportunity coefficient of purchasefunction, both defined for each printed journal. Budget constraints and minimum availability constraints are taken into *** proposed model is flexible, incorporates expert knowledge and can be easily extended to other hospital libraries.

Slotting Optimization of Distribution Center for Agriculture Products Considering ＂Freshness＂ under Traceable Cold Chain

With the rapid development of logistics, trade, and people's pursuit of health, the demand for fresh and safe fresh products is increasing, and logistics providers are facing great challenges. Distribution is an important part of fresh food delivery from the origin to the dining table, and its operation efficiency and service level are very important. Since the actual freshness of fresh products will be different due to the different operation conditions of different logistics links from the origin to the cold storage of distribution center, the purpose of this study is to explore the freshness evaluation method of fresh products, and to optimize the operation of the distribution center in the later stage by tracing the logistics operation information in the early stage. First of all, for a fresh product, the concentration of CO_2 in the closed environment at different temperatures was measured. The respiration rate was calculated, and then the freshness decline rate of fresh products at different temperatures was obtained. Secondly, the system flow chart of fresh products from picking, packaging, precooling, transportation, loading and unloading and handling is constructed, and the freshness is taken as the system reliability. Through the information traceability of the early temperature and operation time, the freshness rating of fresh products before warehousing is completed based on GO-FLOW method. Finally, taking the overall freshness, warehousing efficiency and shelf stability of cold storage as indicators, a multi-objective location optimization model is constructed, and the location allocation scheme is obtained through NSGA-II algorithm, which makes it more convenient for ＂perishable and perishable＂ fresh products and fresh products with high turnover rate. Economic Optimisation of Gas Networks

Efficient management of the natural gas grids involve a complex optimisation task to resolve conflicting operational objectives to maintain cost of effective transmission services all year round. Typical computer software aids for this task divide the optimisation into several parts which are treated separately before the results are brought together for expert assessment and decision. A single, integrated suite of programs to address all aspects of the optimisation task would have obvious attractions. In this paper we describe HERO, a dynamic non-cooperative games framework for such development.

This paper proposes a versatile and interactive route planning problem for sightseeing under various conditions based on constraints of required traveling times and total satisfaction of sightseeing activities, which are time-dependent. In general, traveling times among sightseeing places and the satisfactions of activities also change dependent on various conditions such as weather, climate and season. It is important to represent a satisfying route to ensure the large satisfaction even if any assumable condition happens. In order to incorporate the above-mentioned situations, a multi-objective route planning problem is formulated as a network optimization problems based on Time-Expanded Network to represent time-dependent parameters in a static network. Furthermore, an interactive approach based on the Satisficing Trade-Off Method is introduced to transform the multi-objective into the single. In addition, the proposed problem is equivalently transformed into an extended model of network optimization problems by introducing parameters, and the interactive algorithm is developed.

Study on man power planning of hospital transportation department by using VRPSTW

This paper concerns our use of a Vehicle Routing Problem with Soft Time Window (VRPSTW) model to solve hospital patient transportation assignment problems. A model of multi-objective programming for the hospital staff assignment is set up to minimize the transportation cost (over distances that patients are moved), and penalties are imposed (i.e., punishment for not meeting patient treatment location time windows). We propose a GA-based Heuristic problem solving technique to solve the problem. Our approach improves the efficiency of patient transportation staff assignment, which reduces cost, and meets satisfactory time constraints as shown in practical cases. Furthermore, we developed a Staffing Assignments Decision Support System (SADSS) to facilitate patient transport assignment.
