Spatiotemporal pattern and multi-scenario simulation of ecological risk in mountainous cities: a case study in Chongqing, China

Scientific descriptions and simulations of the ecological risks in mountainous areas can promote the sustainable use of land resources in these areas and improve the reliability of decision-making for ecological risk management. Taking Chongqing, China, as an example, we constructed a landscape ecological risk (LER) evaluation model based on land use data from 1995 to 2020 and analysed the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the LER pattern. Moreover, we coupled the patch-generating land use simulation (PLUS) model and multi-objective programming (MOP) method and input multiple scenarios (inertial development, ID;economic priority development, ED;ecological priority development, PD;and sustainable development, SD) to simulate the ecological risk pattern in 2030. The model coupling the "top-down" and "bottom-up" processes obtained optimal land use patterns in different contexts, and it was used to perform a spatially explicit examination of LER evolutionary trends in different contexts. The results showed that LER evolution in Chongqing has had obvious stage characteristics. The high-risk area decreased significantly under various constraints, including topographic, economic, and other constraints, and the distribution showed a trend of high in the west and low in the east. The LER spatial clustering characteristics were highly coupled with the risk level pattern. The ED scenario presented the most severe risk, the PD scenario presented a moderate risk, and the SD scenario balanced the land demand for economic and ecological development and had a better land use structure and LER compared with the other scenarios. The coupled model proposed in this study helps to obtain the optimal land use structure and mitigate ecological risks, thus providing a scientific basis for future urban development.

BackgroundTo meet the needs of diversified pension services and the construction of aged care institutions is one of the urgent livelihood issues in China. Under the major national needs of pension and care for the elderly, it is necessary to optimize the allocation of pension and care for the elderly resources, and formulate operational coping strategies and optimization plans. It is of great significance to deal with the urgent problem of population aging in a timely and scientific *** economic benefits and social costs of aged care institutions are regarded as objective functions. To satisfy the economic benefits, it is necessary to reduce the social costs, and its construction quantity can only be an integer. The multi-objective genetic algorithm is improved with integer programming, and the global optimal solution is achieved after several times of searching. Under the multi-objective optimization model, the improved genetic algorithm was combined with the superior and inferior solution distance method to solve the genetic algorithm, and the corresponding objective function value was obtained after rounding. Finally, Pareto optimal solution set is selected by multi-objective decision, and the result of construction planning is *** on multi-attribute decision analysis and taking three years as the construction cycle, the planning scheme of aged care institutions construction in each district of Nanjing in the next 15 years was proposed. In addition, considering the intelligent trend of future pension, the proportion of home-based pension is increasing year by year, and the model is promoted to meet the needs of diversified pension services. Goal programming technique for solving fully interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy multiple objective transportation problems

In transportation problems, the cost depends on various irresistible factors like climatic conditions, fuel expenses, etc. Consequently, the transportation problems with crisp parameters fail to handle such situations. However, the construction of the problems under an imprecise environment can significantly tackle these circumstances. The intuitionistic fuzzy number associated with a point is framed by two parameters, namely membership and non-membership degrees. The membership degree determines its acceptance level, while the non-membership measures its non-belongingness (rejection level). However, a person, because of some hesitation, instead of giving a fixed real number to the acceptance and rejection levels, may assign them intervals. This new construction not only generalizes the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy theory but also gives wider scope with more flexibility. In the present article, a balanced transportation problem having all the parameters and variables as interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers is formulated. Then, a solution methodology based on goal programming approach is proposed. This algorithm not only cares to maximize the acceptance level of the objective functions but simultaneously minimizes the deviational variables attached with each goal. To tackle the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy constraints corresponding to each objective function, three membership and non-membership functions, linear, exponential and hyperbolic, are used. Further, a numerical example is solved to demonstrate the computational steps of the algorithm, and a comparison is drawn amidst linear, exponential and hyperbolic membership functions.

A solution procedure for multi-objective fully quadratic fractional optimization model

This paper suggests an efficient procedure to search for efficient/satisfactory solution of multi-objective Fully Quadratic Fractional Optimization Model with fuzzy coefficients using alpha-level set and FGP approach. Quadratic fractional objectives are hard to handle due to their complex structure and need to be converted into non-fractional form. Till now, Taylor's series or parametric method is used to employ simpler objectives. But their always exist chance of error due to truncation of infinite series. Here, a new method is induced to have non-fractional fuzzy goals and in the final step, the linear weighted sum of negative deviational variables is minimized to satisfy all objective functions upto maximum possible extent. In the end, an algorithm, flowchart and numerical are also given to clarify the applicability of the suggested approach.

In this article, we constructed second-order (KxQ)-C-type-I functions and also illustrated a nontrivial concrete numerical example for such existing types of functions. Furthermore, we have presented a second-order non-differentiable multi-objective Schaible type dual model with cone objectives as well as cone constraints. Finally, we established duality theorems under (KxQ)-C-I assumptions.

A bi-level multi-objective linear fractional programming for water consumption structure optimization based on water shortage risk

In this study, a framework of a bi-level multi-objective linear fractional programming (BMLFP) approach is developed for the optimization of water consumption structure based on water shortage risk. It incorporates linear fractional programming (LFP), multi-objective programming (MOP) into bi-level programming (BP). The model considers the water shortage risk measured by interior-outer-set risk assessment method, and integrates it into inexact water resources optimization model. The complicated model not only can enhance the conventional programming method through the interactive influence and mutual restriction between the upper- and lower-level decision processes, and multiple objectives, but also improve the robustness of conventional programming methods by integrating the water shortage risk. Besides, the model could achieve the tradeoff between equality and economic benefit of system and figure out the interaction amid water shortage risk, water allocation and objectives. It is applied to a case study to conduct water resources management among different water users including agricultural, industrial, domestic, and ecological sectors in the middle reaches of Heihe River Basin, northwest China. The water allocation schemes with ten water-shortage risk scenarios is formed to compare the influence of water shortage degree on water allocation and figure out the optimal water allocation schemes. Besides, the performance of the developed model is enhanced by comparing with the two-level linear fractional water management (TLFWM) model and actual condition. The results indicate that the water shortage belongs to general risk area, and the water-shortage risk has obvious effect on agricultural water allocations while has insensitive influence on that of the industrial, domestic and ecological sectors. A main challenge of 5G and beyond wireless systems is to efficiently utilize the available spectrum and simultaneously reduce the energy consumption. From the radio resource allocation perspective, the solution to this problem is to maximize the energy efficiency instead of the throughput. This results in the optimal benefit-cost ratio between data rate and energy consumption. It also often leads to a considerable reduction in throughput and, hence, an underutilization of the available spectrum. Contemporary approaches to balance these metrics based on multi-objective programming theory often lack operational meaning and finding the correct operating point requires careful experimentation and calibration. Instead, we propose the novel concept of hierarchical resource allocation where conflicting objectives are ordered by their importance. This results in a resource allocation algorithm that strives to minimize the transmit power while keeping the data rate close the maximum achievable throughput. In a typical multi-cell scenario, this strategy is shown to reduces the transmit power consumption by 65% at the cost of a 5% decrease in throughput. Moreover, this strategy also saves energy in scenarios where global energy efficiency maximization fails to achieve any gain over throughput maximization.

This paper deals with the modeling and optimization of a bi-level multi-objective production planning problem, where some of the coefficients of objective functions and parameters of constraints are multi-choice. A general transformation technique based on a binary variable has been used to transform the multi-choices parameters of the problem into their equivalent deterministic form. Finally, two different types of secularization technique have been used to achieve the maximum degree of individually membership goals by minimizing their deviational variables and obtained the most satisfactory solution of the formulated problem. An illustrative real case study of production planning has been discussed and, also compared to validate the efficiency and usefulness of the proposed work.

Improving the AquaCrop model to achieve direct simulation of evapotranspiration under nitrogen stress and joint simulation-optimization of irrigation and fertilizer schedules

Water and fertilizer management strategy profoundly influences crop yield, water and nitrogen use efficiency. In this study, a framework for joint simulation-optimization of irrigation and fertilizer schedules (JSOIFS) was established by coupling the improved AquaCrop model, W*N-Jensen model and multi-objective programming. Firstly, the AquaCrop model was modified to simulate evapotranspiration (ET) under nitrogen stress through introducing the concept of shoot actual, critical and minimal nitrogen concentration. The accuracy and applicability of the improved AquaCrop model to simulate ET were verified, taking seed maize of Shiyanghe River Basin as a case. On the basis, an optimization model with the objective of maximum yield calculated by W*NJensen model and water use efficiency was developed under the scenarios of different levels of available water and nitrogen, and initial soil mineral nitrogen content. Results showed that the improved model can simulate canopy cover (CC) and ET well with and without water stress. Meanwhile, the precision for CC, biomass, ET and yield of seed maize can be guaranteed when water and nitrogen stress coexist. It indicated that the improved model can be used for irrigation and fertilizer management. The optimal irrigation and fertilizer schedules pointed out that the irrigation and nitrogen application, and initial soil mineral nitrogen all have significant effects on yield. In low fertility soils, irrigation should be concentrated during tasseling stage and fertilization is as critical as irrigation. Conversely, in high fertility soils, irrigation should be dispersed throughout the growth period. Water and nitrogen use efficiency have been promoted compared with the status quo. The recommended water and nitrogen application for seed maize are 150-200 mm and 100-150 kg N/ha, respectively, in study area with the mean soil mineral nitrogen of 182 kg N/ha. In this study, we develop an extended multi-objective mixed integer programming (EMOMIP) approach for water resources management under uncertainty, in which the parameters are fuzzy random variables while the decision variables are interval variables. Furthermore, some alternatives are considered to retrieve the difference between the quantities of promised water-allocation targets and the actual allocated water. Then, the proposed EMOMIP for the problem is solved by a new method using fuzzy random chance-constrained programming based on the idea of possibility theory. This method can satisfy both optimistic and pessimistic decision makers simultaneously. Finally, a real example is given to explain the proposed method.
