In order to realize the design objectives of high power generation performance and stable suspension capability, a multi-objective optimization method based on a response surface (RS) model and an improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm is proposed and utilized to the multi-objective optimization design of a bearingless permanent magnet synchronous generator (BPMSG). Firstly, the operating principle and the mathematical model of the BPMSG are introduced. Secondly, the design variables and the design objectives are determined and the design space is reduced by the sensitivity analysis. Thirdly, the RS models of design objectives are constructed and the improved MOPSO algorithm is applied to get the Pareto optimal sets. Finally, the initial generator and the optimal generator are compared using the finite element analysis software. Compared with the initial generator, the average suspension force of the optimal generator is increased by 21% and the suspension force ripple is decreased by 52%.

Proton exchange membrane electrolytic cells (PEMECs) are considered cleaner energy-conversion devices with potential commercial applications in hydrogen production. However, the heat- and mass-transfer characteristics inside the cell remain unclear, and its performance should be optimized to achieve future commercial applications. A three-dimensional multi-physical field-coupling model is developed for the PEMEC. Subsequently, a multi-objective optimization design is used to optimize the structural and operational parameters of the cell based on a neural-network regression model. The results of the sensitivity and response-surface analyses indicate that the initial working temperature has the most significant impact on the reaction temperature, the current density is increased by up to 65.22% under the coupling effects of temperature and flow rate. The cell performance is also enhanced by the increased channel width and depth, although this is accompanied by limitations. Under the combined effects of increasing the working temperature and channel width or height, the current density can be increased by a maximum of 65.22% and 38.61%, respectively. The improvement in cell performance requires a trade-off between improved mass and heat transfer and larger pressure drop, and the optimal design achieves this trade-off. In optimal design, the current density is improved by up to 16.56%, the oxygen mass fraction of the catalytic layer is reduced by 40.90% compared with the original design, accompanied by a reasonable pressure drop and uniform temperature distribution. This study provides a novel perspective for the optimization of the PEMEC to promote its commercial application, offering a reference for further advanced optimization of cell performance and reducing trial-and-error costs. It is also expected to have practical applications in energy conservation and sustainable development.

multi-objective optimization design procedures have shown to be a valuable tool for control engineers. These procedures could be used by designers when (1) it is difficult to find a reasonable trade-off for a controller tuning fulfilling several requirements;and (2) if it is worthwhile to analyze design objectives exchange among design alternatives. Despite the usefulness of such methods for describing trade-offs among design alternatives (tuning proposals) with the so called Pareto front, for some control problems finding a pertinent set of solutions could be a challenge. That is, some control problems are complex in the sense of finding the required trade-off among design objectives. In order to improve the performance of MOOD procedures for such situations, preference handling mechanisms could be used to improve pertinency of solutions in the approximated Pareto front. In this paper an overall MOOD procedure focusing in controller tuning applications using designer's preferences is proposed. In order to validate such procedure, a benchmark control problem is used and reformulated into a multi-objective problem statement, where different preference handling mechanisms in the optimization process are evaluated and compared. Mechanical properties optimization of the steering column based on multi-objective optimization design

The mechanical properties of the steering column have a significant influence on the comfort and stability of a vehicle. In order for the mechanical properties to be improved, the rotary swaging process of the steering column is studied in this article. The process parameters, including axial feed rate, hammerhead speed, and hammerhead radial reduction, are systematically analyzed and optimized based on a multi-objective optimization design. The response surface methodology and the genetic algorithm are employed for optimal process parameters to be obtained. The maximum damage value, the maximum forming load, and the equivalent strain difference obtained with the optimal process parameters are, respectively, decreased by 30.09%, 7.44%, and 57.29% compared to the initial results. The comparative results present that the quality of the steering column is improved. The torque experiments and fatigue experiments are conducted with the optimal steering column. The maximum torque is measured to be 260 NM, and the service life is measured to be 2 weeks (40 NM, 2500 times), which are, respectively, increased by 8.3% and 8.69% compared to the initial results. The above results display that the mechanical properties of the steering column are optimized to verify the feasibility of the multi-objective optimization method.

In this paper,a simulation method based on the orthotropic material is proposed.A simple circulate plate is used as a numerical example to show the difference in the static performance and the vibration characteristic between the orthotropic and the isotropic *** that,a comprehensive performance comparison among the metal and plastic gear covers with the orthotropic and the isotropic materials is carried out,including a modal analysis,a forced response analysis under the real operating condition,and an acoustic analysis at the same working *** results show that the vibration responses and the radiated noise of the plastic gear cover are obviously lower than those of the metal *** low frequency peaks of the orthotropic gear cover are larger than those of the isotropic one and the high frequency peaks are *** important,the proposed method can provide a much more accurate frequency content comparing to the isotropic *** last,the multi-objective topology optimization design is conducted based on the orthotropic model and the overall sound power level of the optimized gear cover is 2.32 dB lower than that of the original one and about 13 dB lower than the metal one.

To solve the problem between temperature and thermal stress of a titanium alloy piston, a multi-objective optimization method combined response surface methodology and experiment design is performed to calculate an optimal design of the titanium alloy piston. Firstly, the thermo-mechanical coupling analysis, static and dynamic characteristics analysis are carried out. The analysis results show that the thermal load has a significant influence on the piston. Secondly, the five dimensional parameters are chose as the design variables through sensitivity analysis. The piston thermo-mechanical coupling stress, deformation, mass, and the first ring groove are selected as the objective functions. By using the optimal space-filling design method, the sample points between design variables and objective functions are gained. Then, the mathematical relationship between them is obtained by the response surface method. Finally, the multi-objective genetic algorithm is employed to optimize the mathematical model. After optimization, the maximum coupling deformation decreases by 3.05%, the maximum coupling stress decreases by 27.85%, the mass reduces by 5.46%. The maximum temperature of the first ring groove reduces by 12.54%. This study can provide a reference for the piston optimization design.

For an actual worm reducer, the fuzzy theory and method are applied to obtain results, and the validness of the method is demonstrated by comparing such results with the conventional design data.

As fuel cells gain widespread utilization, augmenting the power density and combination property of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) has emerged as a pivotal area of research. This study introduces an innovative arrayed protrusion structure within the cathode flow channels of SOFCs to induce secondary flow. The influence of this arrayed structure on fuel cell combination property is meticulously analyzed through comprehensive numerical simulations. Furthermore, this paper employs the Response Surface Methodology to evaluate the synergistic effects of cathode operational conditions, particularly temperature, and arrayed structure parameters (including base width, height, and quantity) on SOFC performance. Correlations among these variables have been established to show synergistic associations between variables and performance index. The findings reveal that the inclusion of an arrayed structure in the cathode flow channels generates multi-directional vortices, thereby intensifying gas disturbance, facilitating reactant diffusion, and optimizing oxygen concentration distribution. This results in a marked enhancement of the fuel cell ' s overall performance. Among the operational parameters analyzed, temperature exerts the most substantial influence on power density, followed by protrusion height, base width, and number. Ultimately, using the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II), Pareto optimal solutions were derived, yielding a superior balance of higher power density and reduced pressure drop. Compared to the baseline, the power density in these Pareto optimal solutions saw an increase of 16.5% to 23.6%, while pressure drop escalated marginally by 1.5% to 8.9%.

The continuous power supply system,which eliminates the neutral section and realizes safe and reliable operation,shows a development trend in suburban ***,the access of a power quality compensator(PQC)may alter the impedance characteristics of the system and introduce additional harmonics with a broader frequency band,potentially increasing the risk of ***,in this paper,an analytical method is first adopted in conjunction with a field test to construct a simplified harmonic model for an actual continuous suburban line.A modal scanning algorithm is then used to analyze the effects of the controller and filter in the PQC on the harmonic resonance of the suburban railway continuous power supply *** on the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm,a multi-objective optimization design for PQC is proposed that can suppress harmonic resonance,filter the harmonics,and reduce the cost while preserving the stability of the control ***,a real case study based on the field test demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed design.
