In this paper, we formulate and solve a 0/1 mulitobjective integer programming model that addresses the managament of two conflicting forest resources: wildlife habitat and timber harvesting activities, subject to certain spatial restrictions. The tradeoff between these two conflicting resource uses is addressed in the context of a regular grid of parcels for a single time period problem. Timber harvest adjaceny constraints were developed and incorporated into the model which prevented harvests from occurring next to one another, as well as next to habitat areas. The model performed exceptionally well computationally with hypothetical data. The majority of runs were solved exactly in their relaxed form in less than 60 s using the multiobjective weighting method, with the remaining cases requiring only a few branch and bound nodes to solve to completion.

Wolfe and Mond-Weir type duals for multiobjective variational problems are formulated. Under invexity assumptions on the functions involved weak and converse duality theorems are proved to relate efficient solutions/properly efficient solutions of the primal and dual problems. A close relationship between these variational problems and nonlinear multiobjective programming problems is also indicated.

In this paper, a new approximation method for a characterization of (weak) Pareto solutions in some class of nonconvex differentiable multiobjective programming problems is introduced. In this method, an auxiliary approximated vector optimization problem is constructed at a given feasible solution of the original multiobjective programming problem. The equivalence between (weak) Pareto solutions of these two vector optimization problems is established under (phi,rho)-invexity hypotheses. By using the introduced approximation method, it is shown in some cases that a nonlinear differentiable multiobjective programming problem can be solved by the help of some methods for solving a linear vector optimization problem. Further, the introduced approximation method is used in proving several duality results in the sense of Mond-Weir for the considered vector optimization problem.

multiobjective methods for group decision situations that are proposed in the literature do not generally model power and influence. On the other hand, papers dealing with influence and power in group decision support system (GDSS) are looking for the effects of GDSS on the distribution of power among the group members. This paper proposes an interactive method for group decision aid in multiobjective context integrating he concept of power and influence within the multiperson-multicriteria aspect. The method is designed to be used by a committee to solve a multiple criteria allocation problem. The method is tested on a resource allocation problem in the Municipality of Tunis.

Dealing with the maritime transportation of crude oil and petroleum products has become a problem of major international concern due to the potential of environmental pollution created by oil spill incidents. This paper presents the development of a strategic multiobjective network flow model, allowing for risk analysis and routing, with multiple commodities, modalities and origin-destination pairs. The development of an interactive solution methodology is also presented followed by its implementation via a World Wide Web-based software package. Government agencies will find the model helpful in determining how regulations should be set to derive desirable routing schemes. Shippers will also find the model useful in optimizing their logistics costs. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we establish a strong duality theorem for a Mond-Weir type multiobjective higher order nondifferentiable symmetric dual programs. Our work relaxes the hypotheses used to prove the strong duality result (by omitting one of the condition (hypothesis (IV)), Theorem 2.1) in the recent paper (Yang et al. J. Ind. Manag. Optim. 9, 525-530, (2013)).

Organization are frequently required to make decisions about multiobjective problems. The complexity of such decision processes increases drastically when the participation of multiple decision makers becomes necessary. This is primarily due to the unique preference structures of the participants whose individual judgements of the 'best compromise solution' may not coincide. Nominal and/or interacting groups have been found to improve the decision-making effectiveness and efficiency associated with such multiple objective, multiple decision-maker problems. This study reports the results of a laboratory experiment involving the use of an interactive multiobjective group decision aid. The effect of two independent variables on a set of performance measures is investigated. The first independent variable is the presence or absence of a formal preference aggregation procedure in a group decision aid. The strength of decision-maker's linear programming background is the second independent variable. The dependent variables are solution quality, speed of convergence to a final agreement, and user confidence in the best compromise solution. Analysis and implications of the experimental results are provided and future research work is outlined.
