Optimal management of cultivated land coupling remote sensing-based expected irrigation water forecasting

This study proposed a novel cultivated land planning approach coupling expected irrigation water prediction and crop planting structure optimization. Under the guidance of the expected irrigation water prediction, the development of agricultural planting strategies was proposed through the cultivated land planning method to improve the efficiency of water use and ensure agricultural production. This approach was consisted of two models: a combination forecasting model was developed for estimating expected irrigation water with help of remote sensing data (RSCM);and a bi-level multiobjective programming model for planning crop planting structure (BMPSOM) was formulated for crop planting structure programming. Then, the proposed approach applied to a real-world case in Northwest China for verifying its validity. Results show that: 1) the forecast accuracy of the combination forecast model has been greatly improved compared to the single forecast model, the accuracy test results are RMSE = 0.25 & times;108 m3, MAPE = 0.78%;2) the use of remote sensing data can reflect the soil moisture with spatial variability in the forecast;3) BMPSOM model can well reflect the leader-follower relationship and make tradeoff among multiple objectives of each decision maker in tackling practical problem. Application has proved that the agricultural planting strategy formulated by this approach can not only ensure economic benefits but also increase food production under limited water resources. Therefore, this method has good application prospects in areas where water resources are scarce.

A nonsmooth multiobjective continuous-time problem is considered. The definition of invexity and its generalizations for continuous-time functions are extended. Then, optimality conditions under generalized invexity assumptions are established. Subsequently, these optimality conditions are utilized as a basis for formulating dual problems. Duality results are also obtained for Wolfe as well as Mond-Weir type dual, using generalized invexity on the functions involved.

Application in a Students’ Selection Problem

The aim of the present paper is to propose a novel version of the well known multicriteria method PROMETHEE that deals with segmentation constraints and is also suitable for group decision making. The motivation for the development of the method was a real case study concerning the selection of students for a postgraduate program. The proposed method, named PROMETHEE V2, is based on the principles of PROMETHEE V but uses the results of PROMETHEE I (instead of PROMETHEE II) and exploits the information provided by the leaving and entering flows in order to formulate a bi-objective Integer programming problem. The solution of the latter produces the Pareto optimal solutions which are usually more than one. Due to its structure, the whole decision process is especially suitable for group decision *** article a un double objectif, d'un point de vue méthodologique, on propose une nouvelle version de la méthode multicritère PROMETHEE en présence de contraintes de segmentation qui peut aussi être un outil d'aide adapté à la décision de groupes. La méthode proposée est mise en oeuvre dans le cas de sélection des étudiants candidats pour un diplôme 3e cycle. La méthode proposée, appelée PROMETHEE V2, est basée sur les principes du PROMETHEE V, néanmoins on utilise les résultats de PROMETHEE I (pas ceux de PROMETHEE II) et on valorise l’information fournie par les flux d'entrée et de sortie afin de formuler un modèle en variables entières bi-objectif. La solution de ce problème génère plus d'une solution Pareto optimale. En raison de sa structure, le processus global de décision est particulièrement approprié pour la décision de groupe.

Managing Agricultural Water Considering Water Allocation Priority Based on Remote Sensing Data

To fairly distribute limited irrigation water resources in arid regions, a water allocation priority evaluation method based on remote sensing data was proposed and integrated with an optimization model. First, the water supply response unit was divided according to canal system conditions. Then, a spatialization method was used for generating spatial agricultural output value (income from planting industry) and grain yield (yield of food crops) with the help of NDVI and the potential yield of farmland. Third, the AHP-TOPSIS method was employed to calculate the water allocation priority based on the above information. Finally, the evaluation results were integrated with a nonlinear multiobjective model to optimally allocate agricultural land and water resources, considering the combined objective of minimum envy and proportional fairness. The method was applied to Hetao irrigation area, an arid agriculture-dominant region in Northwest China. After solving the model, optimization alternatives were obtained, which indicate that: (1) the spatial method of agricultural output value can improve the accuracy by around 16% compared with the traditional method, and the spatial method of grain yield also have good accuracy (MAPE = 14.66%);(2) the rank of water allocation priority can reflect more spatial information, and provide practical decision support for the distribution of water resources;(3) the envy index can better improve the efficiency of an allocation system compared to the Gini coefficient method.

A Space Division multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithm Based on Adaptive Multiple Fitness Functions

The weighted sum of objective functions is one of the simplest fitness functions widely applied in evolutionary algorithms (EAs) for multiobjective programming. However, EAs with this fitness function cannot find uniformly distributed solutions on the entire Pareto front for nonconvex and complex multiobjective programming. In this paper, a novel EA based on adaptive multiple fitness functions and adaptive objective space division is proposed to overcome this shortcoming. The objective space is divided into multiple regions of about the same size by uniform design, and one fitness function is de fined on each region by the weighted sum of objective functions to search for the nondominated solutions in this region. Once a region contains fewer nondominated solutions, it is divided into several sub-regions and one additional fitness function is de fined on each sub-region. The search will be carried out simultaneously in these sub-regions, and it is hopeful to find more nondominated solutions in such a region. As a result, the nondominated solutions in each region are changed adaptively, and eventually are uniformly distributed on the entire Pareto front. Moreover, the complexity of the proposed algorithm is analyzed. The proposed algorithm is applied to solve 13 test problems and its performance is compared with that of 10 widely used algorithms. The results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively handle nonconvex and complex problems, generate widely spread and uniformly distributed solutions on the entire Pareto front, and outperform those compared algorithms.

Unification of Higher-Order Dual Programs Over Cones

This paper unified Wolfe and Mond-Weir-type higher-order symmetric dual multiobjective programs over arbitrary cones. The usual duality theorems are proved for unified dual programs under the assumptions of higher-order K-eta-convexity. Several known results are obtained as special cases. An example is given to show how higher-order Wolfe and Mond-Weir-type symmetric duals can be extracted from our model. An example is presented to show the existence of higher-order K-eta-convex functions.

Equitable Efficiency and Decomposition of Preference Matrix in multiobjective Optimization Problems

In equitable multiobjective optimization, all of the objectives are uniformly optimized, but in some cases, the decision maker believes that some of them should be uniformly optimized. In order to solve the proposed problem, we introduce the concept of equitable A(P)-efficiency, where P={P-1,P-2,& mldr;,P-n}is a partition of the index set of objective functions and the preference matrix A(P) is the direct sum of the matrices A(1),A(2),& mldr;,A(n), in which A(k) is a preference matrix for the objective functions in the class P-k for k=1,2,& mldr;,n. We examine some theoretical and practical aspects of equitably A(P)-efficient solutions and provide the some conditions that guarantee the relation of equitable APAP-dominance is a P-equitable rational preference. Furthermore, we introduce the new problem with the preference matrix A(P ) and we decompose it into a collection of smaller subproblems. In continuation, the subproblems are solved by the concept of equitable efficiency. Finally, two models are demonstrated to coordinate equitably efficient solutions of the proposed subproblems.

Management optimization of nonpoint source pollution considering the risk of exceeding criteria under uncertainty

Management of nonpoint source (NPS) pollution is highly important inwatershedwater environmental and ecological security. However, themany complexities and uncertainties that exist in the processes of export andmanagement of NPS pollution exert substantial influences on the reliability of multiple management practices. This study developed an inexact multiobjective possibilistic mean-variance mixed-integer programming (IMPMMP) model for NPS pollution management through optimization ofwatershed land use pattern and livestock production structure. By coupling interval parameter programming, mixed-integer programming, multiobjective programming, and an export coefficient model within a general possibilistic mean-variance model framework, the IMPMMP model deals effectively with system uncertainties and complexities. Moreover, the risk of exceeding criteria (REC) in NPS pollution management systems can be considered. The proposed IMPMMP model was applied to a real-world case study in the Xinfengjiang Reservoirwatershed in South China. Results showed that the preference of decision makers regarding land use adjustment plays a decisive role in determiningmodel feasibility. The area provided for each land use type that could be adjusted has to reach a certain threshold to achieve the goals of reduced pollution load and REC control. The NPS pollution loads after optimization would be exported primarily from different land uses and the human population. Compared with NPS nitrogen pollution management, it is more difficult to reduce the NPS phosphorus load and to manage the corresponding REC through adjustment of the land use pattern and livestock production structure. Moreover, it is difficult to simultaneously reduce theNPS nitrogen and phosphorus pollution loads and REC in each subbasin. Application of CO 2-foamed lightweight grout with early strength and low density as a low-carbon material in shield synchronous grouting

A popular topic in the field of underground engineering is to find synchronous grouting materials with excellent performance and environmental protection characteristics. In this study, CO 2 -foamed synchronous grouting (CSG) materials are prepared with cement, water, CO 2 foams, fly ash, fine river sand and bentonite. The feasibility of the material is verified by a series of detailed tests and analyses. The properties and performance of the CSG materials are investigated. The effects of the ratios of water/binder (cement + fly ash), fly ash/cement, binder/fine river sand and bentonite/water on the response value of the synchronous grouting material performances are investigated with stepwise nonlinear regression analysis models and response plane diagrams. NSGA-II is used to solve the multiobjective problem to obtain an optimal mass ratio. The results indicate that the grout component proportion directly impacts the performance of CSG material. Under the optimal ratio conditions, the specific gravity of CSG is 19.42 % lower and the early strength is 52.46 % higher than that of traditional grouts, and other properties meet the basic performance requirements of grout. The microstructure and product analysis show that the presence of CO 2 foams causes the carbonation reaction of the hydration products in the cement mortar to form calcium carbonate and silica gel. The carbonation reaction consumes free water, decreasing the setting time. Calcium carbonate and silica gel effectively increase the mechanical properties of the material and achieve the storage of CO 2 in cement -based materials. The research strategy and optimal ratio proposed in this paper verify the effectiveness, practicality and environmental economy of CSG material as a synchronous grouting material, providing a new choice for tunnel excavation grouting.
