A Novel Second-Order Perturbation Technique for Improving the Signal Processing in MIMO-NOMA Based Cognitive Radio Networks

In fifth generation (5G) wireless communication system of non-orthogonal multiple-access (NOMA) and cognitive radio network (CRN), it's an exclusive path for cognitive users (CUs). In this paper, three distinct techniques along with a Novel second-order perturbation analysis method are applied to overcome the interference between the cells during a data exchanges. The interference may happen due to the imperfect sensing of the spectrum by the secondary users (SUs). In the CR approach, the SU access the primary user (PU) channel and concurrently, the PU may return to their channel before the end of SU access. Hence the concurrent way of approaching the PU channel causes collision between the users. This causes interference. Finally, the effect of this interference is highly degraded by the novel second-order perturbation technique and is shown in simulation result that demonstrates the performances of the enhanced approach.

A Reliable Singular Value Decomposition and Geometric Mean Decomposition Based Precoding Scheme for MU-MIMO-VLC System

In this paper, in order to improve the reliability of Multi-User multiple-input multiple-output Visible Light Communication (MU-MIMO-VLC) system, we propose a precoding scheme that based on Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Geometric Mean Decomposition (GMD) assisted Orthogonal Transformation (OT). In this design, we use SVD to conduct the decomposition of the user's complementary channel matrix. Then, the equivalent channel matrix is obtained by multiplying the user's channel matrix and the decomposed component. After that, the GMD is carried out to decompose the equivalent channel matrix. Finally, the precoding matrix of the proposed scheme is obtained. We then derive the theoretical Symbol Error Rate (SER) of the proposed scheme. The simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, and to demonstrate that the reliability of the proposed design is superior to benchmark schemes.

Identification of communication parameters, a major task of intelligent receivers, has important applications in intelligent systems, especially cognitive radio systems. multiple antennas make the identification problem more challenging. In this paper, we focus on the problem of detecting the number of transmit antennas in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cognitive radio systems. A novel identification algorithm is proposed to determine the number of transmit antennas for MIMO systems in the presence of alpha-stable noise. We first introduce the correlation matrix based on the fractional lower order statistics (FLOS) and provide a particular structure of FLOS-based correlation matrix. Then, the eigenvalues of the FLOS-based correlation matrix are employed to construct a test statistic and the central limit theorem is exploited to obtain the decision threshold. Finally, the transmit-antenna number is detected using a serial binary hypothesis test. Simulation results are demonstrated to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed transmit-antenna number detection algorithm for MIMO systems in the presence of alpha-stable noise.

Performance Analysis and Optimization of Multihop MIMO Relay Networks in Short-Packet Communications

This work investigates the multiple-input multiple-output system in the context of the selective decode-and-forward multihop relay network under short-packet communications to facilitate not only ultra-reliability, but also low-latency communications. For the transmit and receive diversity techniques, we analyze the transmit antenna selection (TAS) and maximum-ratio transmission (MRT) schemes at the transmit side, whereas the selection-combining (SC) and maximum-ratio combining (MRC) schemes are leveraged at the receive side. For quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels and the finite-blocklength regime, we derive the approximate closed-form expressions of the end-to-end (e2e) block error rate (BLER) for the TAS/MRC, TAS/SC, and MRT/MRC schemes. The asymptotic performance in the high signal-to-noise ratio regime is derived, from which the comparison among diversity schemes in terms of the diversity order, e2e BLER loss, and SNR gap is provided. Furthermore, based on the asymptotic results, we develop power-allocation, relay-location, and joint simplified optimizations to minimize the asymptotic e2e BLER under the system constraints. The e2e latency and throughputs are also analyzed for the considered schemes. The correctness of our analysis is confirmed via Monte Carlo simulations.

3x3 MIMO 60-GHz OFDM-RoF System With Long-Distance Wireless Transmission Enabled by MIMO Volterra Filtering

A 3x3 60-GHz multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radio-over-fiber system with an MIMO Volterra filter was demonstrated. The main objective of the proposed scheme is to compensate for the nonlinear distortion caused by radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) before the signals reaches the transmitter antennas-particularly when the PAs operate with a high input power to achieve a high output RF power for long-distance wireless transmission. When the required wireless transmission distance is only 7 m, the 3x3 MIMO system with careful control of the PA input power can achieve a data rate of 126 Gbps. However, the data rate decreases rapidly over a longer wireless distance because of the larger loss. By eliminating nonlinear distortion and interchannel interference simultaneously, MIMO Volterra filtering can significantly increase the achievable data rate of a long-distance system. When the required data rate is 90 Gbps (or 100 Gbps), the maximum wireless transmission distance is 118 m (or 70 m) with the aid of MIMO Volterra filtering, but it is only 74 m (or 40 m) without MIMO Volterra filtering.

In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning (DL)-based codebook design method for generalized space shift keying (GSSK) systems. In this DL-based method, the transmitter and receiver of GSSK systems are designed based on deep neural network (DNN). By training the DNN in an end-to-end manner, the DL-based method can adaptively generate suitable binary codewords and combine them into a codebook for GSSK systems. Simulation results show that the proposed DL-based method obtains better performance compared to conventional approaches.

This research studies an uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) techniques. In this regard, we formulate a problem to maximize the achievable system sum rate by optimizing the precoding matrices at the users and the decoding order of all sub-messages received at the base station (BS). To solve the problem that combines continuous variables and the decoding order, we propose a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) framework that integrates a graph-based searching strategy into the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm. The simulation results prove the convergence in the training of the proposed framework and its performance in various scenarios. Further-more, the results also open up an attractive research aspect when considering the sum rate maximization problem in RSMA-enhanced MIMO systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at the current ultra-wideband multiple-input multiple-output (UWB-MIMO) antenna, which had a large size, low isolation, and other deficiencies, a miniaturized, high-isolation UWB-MIMO antenna was designed. The antenna's backside was a rectangular ground plate with cutting corners, while the front side was made up of a "vase"-style radiation patch and a stepped microstrip feeder. The antenna was broad-banded by symmetrically cutting the corners of the rectangular radiating patch and etching the rectangular slot on the ground plate. The antenna achieved high isolation by loading a "fishbone" and symmetrical "Y" decoupling stubs on the front and back of the dielectric substrate. The antenna was simulated and measured with a size of only 22 mm x 29 mm x 0.8 mm, having an operating bandwidth of 1.5 similar to 18 GHz (the relative bandwidth reaches 169%), isolation more significant than 17 dB in the bandwidth range, and an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) of less than 0.02. The antenna can be utilized in UWB-MIMO wireless communication systems since it has good radiation performance and a small structure.

Constant-amplitude (CA) sequences are efficacious in the construction of multicarrier sounding waveforms in order to facilitate simultaneous channel estimation (SCE) in uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The permissible single-root length-N Zadoff-Chu sequences that are cyclically shiftable with a minimum cyclic shift distance (CSD) (sic)(min) in time domain are widely adopted to enable the separation of simultaneously received sounding OFDM waveforms and thus achieve accurate SCE when at most left perpendicular N/(sic)(min) right perpendicular MIMO channels are estimated simultaneously. To enable the large-size SCE of more than left perpendicular N/(sic)(min) right perpendicular MIMO channels, nonorthogonal multiple-root Zadoff-Chu sequences have to be adopted and this degrades the SCE performance remarkably due to heavy inter-sequence interference (ISI). In this paper, various CA sequence families are thus investigated for performance prevalence in the large-size SCE over independent Rician multipath channels. It is analytically shown that the large-size SCE can be achieved with less influence from ISI when the adopted CA sequence family is composed of orthogonal sequence subfamilies, each containing as many permissible cyclically-shiftable CA sequences as possible.

Ergodic Capacity of Space-Time Line Code Systems With Transmit Antenna Selection

Since a novel diversity technique called a space-time line code (STLC) was invented, previous studies have focused on the analysis of a rate-1 STLC assuming two receive antennas. For the state-of-the-art STLCs with transmit antenna selection (TAS), in this study, the ergodic capacities of TAS-STLC systems with various code rates are mathematically derived, not only for a TAS-STLC system with two receive antennas but also for those with three or four. To this end, the probability density function of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio was characterized. The accuracy of the mathematical analysis was validated by a numerical simulation. This study is significant for investigating the fundamental performance of TAS-STLC systems.
