We address the problem of interference leakage (IL) minimization in the K-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) interference channel (IC) assisted by a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). We describe an iterative algorithm based on block coordinate descent to minimize the IL cost function. A reformulation of the problem provides a geometric interpretation and shows interesting connections with envelope precoding and phase-only zero-forcing beamforming problems. As a result of this analysis, we derive a set of necessary (but not sufficient) conditions for a phase-optimized RIS to be able to perfectly cancel the interference on the K-user MIMO IC. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes an angular speed 3D-based beam tracking method using hybrid beamforming. We propose a new beam tracking algorithm that enables dynamic pilot insertion based on closed loop feedback control by utilizing the Line of Sight (LoS) path of the channel between T-BS and UAV-UE. Simulations show that the proposed beam tracking method has improved overall performance in terms of beamforming gain and spectral efficiency (SE). © 2023 IEEE.

In modern wireless communication scenarios, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) provides high throughput and spectral efficiency for fifth generation (5G) and beyond 5G systems. Traditional NOMA detectors are based on successive interference cancellation (SIC) techniques at both uplink and downlink NOMA transmissions. However, due to imperfect SIC, these detectors are not suitable for defense applications. In this paper, we investigate the 5G multiple-input multiple-output NOMA deep learning technique for defense applications and proposed a learning approach that investigates the communication system's channel state information automatically and identifies the initial transmission sequences. With the use of the proposed deep neural network, the optimal solution is provided, and performance is much better than the traditional SIC-based NOMA detectors. Through simulations, the analytical outcomes are verified.

multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems play a crucial role in elevating the efficiency and reliability of communication networks, especially within Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This article introduces a novel approach involving full-duplex (FD) and half-duplex (HD) relays mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to enhance MIMO systems. Incorporating spatial modulation (SM) and transmit antenna selection (TAS) techniques aims to optimize system performance while reducing computational complexity to meet IoT requirements. The article mathematically formulates outage probabilities (OPs) and system throughputs (STs) for the proposed MIMO-IoT-UAV systems utilizing SM with FD/HD-UAV, both with and without TAS, over practical Nakagami-m channels. Numerical illustrations underscore the advantages of employing FD/HD-UAV and TAS in MIMO-IoT-UAV systems. Specifically, OPs with TAS are significantly lower, while STs with TAS are notably higher than their counterparts without TAS. Additionally, TAS with FD-UAV yields greater benefits than HD-UAV, particularly in preventing the error floor associated with residual self-interference (RSI). To mitigate this error floor in MIMO-IoT-UAV systems using FD-UAV, an effective strategy involves increasing the number of transmit/receive antennas. The choice between FD and HD modes hinges on parameters such as transmit power, data rate, and RSI. Depending on these factors, FD-UAV performance may exhibit lower or higher error rates than HD-UAV. Hence, the optimal selection of FD or HD mode, combined with TAS, is essential for enhancing MIMO-IoT-UAV system performance. This optimization process should consider parameters like RSI level, the number of transmit/receive antennas, data rate requirements, and UAV position to ensure efficient and reliable communication across diverse scenarios.

Multi-stream signals separation based on space-time-isomeric (SPATIO) array using metasurface antennas

In spatial domain signal processing, it is necessary to equip more antennas at the receiver to improve spatial demultiplexing capability. However, increasing the number of antennas under restricted space will reduce antenna spacing and raise the channel correlation, making the number of signal streams spatially demultiplexed much smaller than that of antennas. This paper proposes a method to design a space-timeisomeric(SPATIO) array based on metasurface antennas under wireless multipath conditions. Each antenna in this array has a different pattern and varies independently with time, reducing the channel correlation by superposing multipath at distinct positions and moments. Based on the SPATIO array, we present an array parameter design scheme based on infinity norm minimization, which can maximize the received energy of each stream while separating multi-stream received signals. Simulation results illustrate the performance of the SPATIO array for multi-stream signal reception. Compared with conventional multiple-input multipleoutput arrays, the proposed array can reduce the bit error rate by one order of magnitude under the same simulation conditions.

A methodology for the efficient calculation of S-parameters as well as far-fields of symmetrical multi-port antennas is shown. The methodology exploits the symmetry of the antenna structure to determine the scattering matrix as well as far-fields of the antenna with attached feeding network. Using this procedure, only ports within the fundamental region have to be excited. This way, a reduction of the simulation time corresponding to the group order of the symmetry group of the antenna is achieved. Further, the coupling of the antenna ports can be predicted using a cascaded scattering matrix approach. © 2025 European Association on Antennas and Propagation.

Joint radio frequency front-end and digital back-end antijamming scheme based on a metasurface antenna array

An array’s degree of freedom(DoF)determines the number of jamming incidents that can be managed and the antijamming *** arrays can improve the DoF only by increasing the number of *** the other hand,when the received signal is digitized,high-power jamming will reduce the number of bits used to represent the desired signal,further increasing the difficulty of back-end antijamming based on digital signal *** this paper,we propose a joint radio frequency(RF)front-end and digital back-end antijamming scheme based on a metasurface antenna *** metasurface antennas can rapidly switch patterns when receiving signals,so that a single channel can be equivalent to multiple channels and increase the *** use independent component analysis to estimate the channel and then optimize the array parameters under the minimum signal-to-jamming ratio constraint of each *** proposed scheme works well under high-power jamming conditions by suppressing jamming at the RF front end and using a low-precision analog-to-digital *** results show that the proposed scheme reduces the bit error rate of the received signals by one order of magnitude compared with the conventional array.

The exact error prediction method for MIMO controlled tests☆

multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) tests are used to replicate environmental conditions on dynamic systems in a lab setting. MIMO tests allow responses at multiple locations to be replicated far better than possible with normal single input tests. However, achieving a desired response at multiple response locations is affected by various factors. Specifying test tolerances based on multiple responses (vs. on just a single input) is challenging and of great interest. The dynamic relationships between the inputs and the outputs of the system, given by the frequency response functions (FRFs), may not be perfectly characterized. Given a desired output, the FRF matrix must be inverted to obtain an input. This process has inexact solutions because the FRF matrix is usually not square and is ill-conditioned. The realization of time histories from a frequency domain input is not perfect, and the spectral content of the actual input to the system does not match what was initially sought after. Previous work has established a framework for predicting error in MIMO tests, the approximate error prediction method (AEPM), but was limited in the types of error sources that could be accounted for and the tests it could be applied to. This paper improves that method by changing to a matrix-based formulation and accounting for inversion error, called the exact error prediction method (EEPM). The EEPM is applied to similar tests in the previous paper, specifically single-input single-output (SISO) and square MIMO tests, with significant improvements in error prediction over the AEPM. Additionally, a broader set of rectangular MIMO tests, where inversion is a large source of error, are conducted with similarly effective results.
