Color matching system is a specialized software solution geared towards spot color matching. It contains spectral reflectance import, data calculation, and formula export. In virtue of a generic open data base connectivity (ODBC) interface, data analysis is performed by statistics and analysis software connecting to a database. The color matching database (CMD) application is developed in ink formulation studies, and is established including four modules: primary ink information database, substrate information database, spot color database (target color), and ink formula database. This paper describes the design and establishing of CMD. The database is built on mysql. Formula ink can be selected by searching target color number. The results show that the adoption of mysql program application is feasible, flexible, low-cost and user-friendly way of managing research data in color matching system.

As the simulation data of the Simufact Additive software was inconvenient to process, QT and structured query language (mysql) database were used to develop the database to solve the processing of the simulation data. The GUI interface that has the functions of processing and saving the simulation data was designed. The interface developed by QT was used to start the Simufact Additive software, connect to the mysql database and save the simulation data. The results showed that using mysql as the management of simulation data has achieved better results in the post-processing of simulation data.

In this article, a retail management system (RMS) called Shopwell is developed which keeps track of the expiry date of products along with the total expenditure analysis through Python, mysql, and Android Studio where customers can keep track of the budget utilized for buying the products like groceries, cosmetics, and medication and it alerts when the product expiry is near while shopping online or offline. The customers hardly keep track of expiry dates on products and sometimes it is hard to keep track of total spending over a while. The proposed system can be linked with any retail business and comes in handy in the form of an app that can be installed on mobiles, tablets, and laptops. Once the retail business ties up with Shopwell, the bill which is created after shopping generates a link which directly links to the app once clicked by the customer when shopping online otherwise the link is established once the cashier scans the QR code available in the customer's app after scanning the products over offline mode. Once the app has the required data of the purchased items, it assists the customers to keep a record of the purchase details chiefly on the expiration date and the total expenditure thus avoiding consumers to stop using out of date products while keeping the daily budgets within stipulated limits.

mysql is an open-source very popular RDBMS to store and manage data. But it faces difficulties of prolonged response time to handle big data. On the other hand, cloud is a perfect solution for managing and querying big data but it is not suitable to process small data due to delayed response time. In this paper, we propose a cloud-based solution that will improve response time and performance of the system to handle big as well small data. We combine mysql and cloud to store and manage all the data. We also focus on migration of data between mysql and cloud. It is found that the proposed solution performs better than the only mysql solution.

Information and data are increasing and has rapid growth as we now are in big data era. Database management system becomes a major part of data centers. This paper compared the performance of an open source database management system between mysql and MariaDB. The testing environment is Xen 4.4 virtual machine using OLTP-Simple and OLTP-Seats as the benchmark data. Our experiment results show that mysql has significantly better performance than MariaDB. mysql performance rate are doubled at 1,000 threads of OLTP-Simple with 4 workers of OLTP-Seats while the resource consuming were similar in all cases. Therefore, mysql version 5.6 has better performance than MariaDB version 10.0.21.

Fast, reliable, and secure data processing is critical in the Information Technology (IT) sector as it is an indispensable requirement of all the growing technologies. Achieving this requires handling large amounts of data and massive computing power. Emerging technologies use devices under low-performance environments, such as raspberry-pi, which require highly efficient databases under low computing power. Inappropriate selection of databases leads to considerable resource wastage in numerous ways, such as waste of time, cost, and energy. The selection of a reliable, user-friendly database compatible with low-performance environments will downplay the energy requirement and cut down applications' carbon footprint. Thus, this study was conducted to compare the performance and query cost of using ClickHouse and mysql databases as column-oriented and row-oriented databases in a low-performance environment. The effectiveness of using column-oriented or row-oriented databases with large amounts of data at different platforms was analyzed. The study was conducted by running different queries using an automated PHP script and checking the execution time, processing power, disk I/O, and memory usage for each query. The study was conducted with a virtual Linux environment of 1024MB RAM, 1.8Ghz single processor, and 25Gb storage, representing very low computing power, even lesser than the recommended minimum requirement of ClickHouse and mysql databases. Both databases performed well in the above mentioned environment. Our experimental results show that ClickHouse execution time and disk write speed is tremendously low compared to mysql. To obtain this performance, ClickHouse used more CPU processing power and memory utilization than mysql.

In this paper we will try to present a comparative study of non-relational databases and relational databases. We mainly focus our presentation on one implementation of the NoSQL database technology, namely MongoDB, and make a comparison with another implementation of relational databases, namely mysql, and thus justifying why MongoDB is more efficient than mysql. We will also present the advantages of using a non-relational database compared to a relational database, integrated in a forum in the field of personal and professional development. The NoSQL database used to develop the forum is MongoDB, and was chosen from a variety of non-relational databases, thanks to some aspects that we will highlight in this article. The database integration in the framework will also be presented.

mysql is an open-source, free and relational database management system that is growing rapidly over clouds. All hosting servers support the mysql database. However, it has its pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses, but this research focuses on its performance speed, a weak point of mysql and describes how to deal with this issue and how to speed up a mysql table which has more than a million records. Many organizations and companies are using mysql database to store their data online whether it is a database or website.
