This study proposes a visualization framework for bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) whistle classification using statistical signal properties such as slope, standard deviation, kurtosis, skewness, minimum and maximum frequency, frequency range, absolute value, and duration. For each whistle, all statistical properties are stored in a mysql database, one of the relational databases, so that users can classify whistles. Moreover, correlation values are provided in a heat map to examine the similarity of whistles among the population. This framework will allow marine mammal researchers to determine the whistle properties of individual bottlenose dolphins. Researchers can then investigate behavioral and ecological questions such as (i) does whistle structure differs among dolphin populations (ii) and does anthropogenic noise affects whistle structure.

Streaming data analysis has attracted attention in various applications like financial records, data analysis, etc. Such type of applications require continuous storage of large amount of data in data warehouse while simultaneously providing quick response time for the queries against the data that is stored in the system. The duration of fetching data varies depending on type of data required from the system. This paper presents the performance estimates in terms of mysql Partition, Hive partition-bucketing and Apache Pig framework. In this paper, big data eco systems and comparative performance analysis of frequently used data retrieval techniques such as mysql, Hive and Pig are described. From the work presented in the paper, it is concluded that the execution time for extracting data becomes very large with growth in data size, particularly in case of mysql. As compared to mysql, Hive and Pig takes less time and give better results.

Relational databases are not powerful, when we have to inquire with an extensive variety of gigantic information. Relational databases like mysql are storing data in organized form. Document-based data stores like MongoDB, which is a type of NoSQL database can store huge volume of data which additionally have very powerful query engines and indexing features. This paper concentrates on the upsides of NoSQL databases over relational databases in the investigation of the big data by making a performance comparison of various queries and commands in both the systems using two different datasets of dissimilar sizes. Cryptanalysis of T-function-based hash functions - Applications to mysql password algorithms

T-functions are a useful new tool to design symmetric-key algorithms, introduced by Klimov and Shamir in 2002. They have already been used to build stream ciphers and Dew applications for block ciphers and hash functions have been recently suggested. In this paper, we analyze the security of several possible constructions of hash functions, based on T-functions. We show that, most natural ideas are insecure. As an application, we describe a practical preimage attack against the dedicated hash function used in the mysql password-based authentication mechanisins.

This article observes ways and techniques that can be used to gain access to mysql databases. HoneyPot that simulates main mysql server functions was built in order to collect data about attacks. There is gathered a password dictionary that was collected based on attempts to gain access to mysql HoneyPot. There are diagrams, that show distributions of attacks number at a specific time and region, made from gathered IP addresses and times of attacks. There is also described a method which can be used to get data from an attacker's computer.

Online, data-driven applications have become the cornerstone of e-commerce, health care, and our economy as a whole, as well as a part of almost every web application and mobile app in our daily lives. Unfortunately, this reliance on databases encourages attackers to exploit every attack surface to compromise these data-driven systems. While there are many security methodologies in place to protect and preserve the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of data, there are cases where these implementations fail, resulting in unintended consequences. In this paper, the STRIDE threat modeling is used to identify potential threats to the mysql database management system to assist developers and admins in proactively securing these systems. Overall, this research identified spoofing, tampering, and denial of service as the more common threats facing data-driven applications, each of which can cause significant damage against an insufficiently protected mysql database. Moreover, this paper suggests potential countermeasures to better protect mysql databases against adversarial threats.

This study developed a performance analyzing system for industrial machines by using an air conditioning system as a case study. Electricity consumption of the air conditioner compressor operating normally under controlled temperature in the room was gathered by applying the principle of quantitative data collection. Work efficiency of the system was analyzed by using the big data pattern. Due to sufficient information, it can further contribute to the application of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in analysis of the failures or causes of machine malfunctions. Data collecting system in this study was designed to analyze electric current and various parameters including power voltage, temperature and humidity, real power and power factor in order to recheck as well as increase the reliability of the system. All collected data were stored in the mysql database on a web server and managed by phpMyAdmin that could allow users to access the information chronologically on daily, monthly, or yearly basis via a computer screen. The test results showed that the designed system was accurate with a small variation about 0.07 A or 1.78% compared to the standard digital ammeter. For power voltage, an average difference compared to the standard digital voltmeter was approximately 0.4 V or about 0.17%.

Our world has evolved to an optimal point of advancement. The extravagant growth has helped in the invention of technologies, industry standards, gadgets, and devices that produce enormous amount of data that all require an essential data management and manipulation system. The data acquired from the various input and output sources are indulged in providing a certain infrastructure are also susceptible to damages if not treated well which may result in loss of data. To overcome this loss, various strategies that run parallel to prevent such loss are being used, one such example is the NoSQL MongoDB. MongoDb is a cross-platform, document oriented database that provides, high performance and easy scalability ensuring effective data management with its prominent feature of auto sharding. Sharding splits the database across multiple servers, increasing the capacity and scalability as required. This feature handles distribution of data in different nodes to maximize disk space and dynamically load balance queries. Partitioning the databases appropriately is a major step that determines the efficiency of sharding. This involves choosing an index of the MongoDB, competently as a shared key for further horizontal scaling of the database. Our current research involves the study of this load balancer. This paper intends to ascertain the need for NoSQL databases in the present situation and emphasize advancement of document-oriented database MongoDB in particular by describing with a quantitative example that SQL databases are prone to deterioration when data is over loaded and MongoDB comes with inbuilt load balancer which makes it a better solution in applications with high data load. We describe the technology of sharding -auto load balancing feature of MongoDB and hope to provide a comprehensive insight of the process.
