Collection search engine especially for theses and dissertations in Universitas Indonesia's library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) website was considered to be less effective and time-consuming as it rarely brings up a match result. This study aimed to develop a categorization system to support theses and dissertations search engine. To build the mentioned system, this study processed text derived from the abstract of each theses and dissertation using Self-organizing Map, one of the applications of clustering. The abstracts of each thesis and dissertation of Universitas Indonesia in 2005-2015 were processed and this study found 139 categories that can represent theses and dissertations of Universitas Indonesia. mysql was employed to build the proposed categorization system in the database, while PHP programming was used to create a categorization program which will be integrated into the online catalog. By using this categorization system, data collection became more centralized and structured. Data storage is also becoming more efficient and effective so that information is provided more quickly, easily, and accurately.

Development and Application of a Networked Automatic Deformation Monitoring System

Automatic deformation monitoring systems based on different types of sensors have been extensively studied in recent years. However, the existing systems cannot be applied to deformation monitoring projects in which monitoring points are distributed discretely and navigation satellite signals are occluded severely. Therefore, this study proposes a networked automatic deformation monitoring system (NADMS) to solve these problems. The NADMS uses different types of robotic total stations (RTSs) as sensors. The proposed system uses wireless networks and a mysql database to realize the remote control of multiple RTSs and remote transmission and network query of observational data. Furthermore, the system realizes the station-moving-without-learning (SMWL) function using a free-station method. That is, if an RTS moves after the first learning cycle, re-orientation and the previous monitoring work can be continued without learning again. The RTS can correct its coordinates and azimuth automatically, and different types of RTSs can collect and transmit observational data collaboratively and independently in the NADMS. The precision and practicability of the NADMS are analyzed by simulation tests and a field test, and the results show that the system is effective and feasible and can meet the required monitoring precision of millimeter level.

Temperature control is essential to establish the proper conditions of a natural behavior and development of reptiles in any zoo. The present paper presents the work developed in ISEP in partnership with Maia Zoo, regarding the monitoring and control of a reptile terrarium's temperature. A NTC thermistor is used as the sensor element and the acquisition and control is implemented with a microcontroller Arduino. The prototype was encapsulated in a waterproof case, guaranteeing operation under harsh conditions. A web database and interface was created with mysql, allowing the remote acquisition and management of the data.

In the field of human health, collecting and analyzing real-time data is crucial. Information technology (IT) has the potential to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare by enabling the service providers and their patients to access the health information. IT allows healthcare providers to collect, store, retrieve, and transfer information electronically. Patients will be able to monitor their own vital signs from their home and communicate the results to their service providers wirelessly. This makes it possible to address a problem before a patient requires acute care and maintain the quality of their life by enabling them to be close to their families and relatives. This paper presents a novel component-based monitoring system (THBR). T-HBR supports a multi-user environment, has a high level of security and has the potential to communicate with a remote server or service robot wirelessly. The experimental results of the system demonstrate the ease of use and high degree of reliability.

Student's attendance tracking is a vital issue in order to monitor students' performance in the classroom as well as in their studies. It becomes a key concern because the university authority maintains a rule that one student can only attend in the exam if his/her attendance is higher or equal to several percentages (60%, 70% or 80% etc.) otherwise not. The traditional attendance system needs student's to physically sign the attendance sheet each time for the attendance of each class. This is unnecessarily time-consuming to notice and mark student's name on the attendance sheet. This also happens that some students may accidentally or willingly mark the student's name like as proxy. The hard copy of attendance sheet may get lost. Using Smartphone like as Android Technology the course teacher will be able to take attendance easily by our designed mobile application and save the attendance in the phone as well as in server and can check percentage and also can print as hard copy. Using the stored information, this system is able to mark attendance, marking intruders' entry, attendance percentage calculations, send emails, and send SMS to the guardian to keep them updated about their child's attendance at the Institute. The designed system has an online access from any place and any moment which may extraordinarily assist the course teacher with keeping track of their student's attendance.

A factory safety monitoring system based on wireless sensor network, Zigbee, is proposed and constructed in the work. With the function of automatically monitoring of gas and smoke happening in factory and converting into image then to transmit to personal and phone call to security guiders for emergency treatment. The constructional system is able to authentically uplift the leveling of safety protection and significantly reduce the loss of human life and property. Consequently, one believes that this Zigbee-based system used for wireless messages transmission of abnormal cases coming in factory for safety monitoring can certainly provide a solution advangtable to achieve protection of lives and property.

In this study, we present a control platform used for radiotherapy services. Cancer treatment field concerns also Chemotherapy, Surgery and Other medical means but it didn't constitute the object of this survey. The Cancer is an enormous and growing global public health problem. The majority of cancers are treated in radiotherapy (or radiation oncology) services. The strategies for treatment management and terminal cure must be established in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach for a total cancer care program. The system used for this work in a radiotherapy service consists of a set of 5 personnel computers (PC's), one PC server, 3 linear accelerators (VARIAN model) and 2 scanner simulators (VARIAN and General Electric) located in five cure rooms. Currently, the problem of the quality services and the accidents in radiotherapy services in the world is not solved. This system is used in order to improve the quality services and to increase the medical care. Its main purpose is to avoid mistake's treatment which could kill patients. Accidents occur till now even in developed countries (USA, France, England, etc). This project is in its first step. Some results are obtained and described in this study. The PC's are put in a network and three of them are used to control the check-list of the apparatus (linear accelerators). One special PC (the server) is used as a data server in order to store all data of the system like the check-list of the devices, the temperature and the moisture data and the physicians and patients' management.

The traditional methods used in agriculture often have disadvantages related to consumption, management and conservation of water for irrigation. The emergence of new technologies such as Internet of Things and information management has accelerated the develop of "modern agricuture" by mitigating or at best eliminating the problems mentioned above. In this paper is presented the design and implementation of an embedded system that uses Internet of Things and a set of sensors and actuators to allow the monitoring of climatic variables and irrigation of an urban garden located in the parking facilities of the Universidad Politecnica Salesiana. Sensors measure parameters such as environmental humidity and temperature, soil moisture and temperature, CO2 levels, luminosity and crop presence;processed within an ATMEL microcontroller, which takes decisions for irrigation based on crop requirements. This information is received by the remote server through the WiFi protocol, which stores it in the cloud within a database and sends it to the client computer or mobile device, who will be able to access this data in real time from any location where it has access to the Internet.

As the complexity of the launching vehicle increases, using fault diagnosis method to improve reliability becomes more and more important. eBR (case-based reasoning) method is frequently used in prognostic and health management systems. The launching vehicle system has many subsystems. In order to apply eBR method to these various subsystems, a eBR system based on Java and mysql database is designed in this paper. The principle and process of modular structure is discussed, and case base database based on mysql is designed. The system is developed in the Java language according to three layer model. It can be used for embedded application. Two data sets from UCI database are used to test module function. Test result shows validation of the system.

For currently existed problems and difficulties during the small and medium enterprises use EPC (Electronic Product Code) ALE (Application Level Events) specification to achieved middleware, based on the analysis of principle of EPC Middleware, an improved design method for EPC middleware is presented. This method combines the powerful function of mysql database, uses database to connect reader-writer with upper application system, instead of development of ALE application program interface to achieve a middleware with general function. This structure is simple and easy to implement and maintain. Under this structure, different types of reader-writers added can be configured conveniently and the expandability of the system is improved.
