Optimal error feedback filters for A/D converters of remote sensors in networked controlsystems are studied. It is shown that if the transfer function from the quantization error to the output of interest has a minimum phase, then its inverse is the optimal error feedback filter in terms of any kind of norms of errors. For general LTI systems, the design of error feedback filters is formulated as an optimization problem, which can be numerically solved. A design example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

This paper deals with the quantized control problem for uncertain networked controlsystem with Markovian jumps and time delays. In the study, network induced delays and limited communication capacity due to signal quantization are both taken into consideration. The system contains time delays and Markovian jumps with partially known transition probabilities. By linear inequality approach, a sufficient condition is derived for the resulting closed-loop system to be stochastically stable with a prescribed H-infinity performance level. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed design method.

A designed network control system of multi mobile robot is presented. It is based on wireless distribution system. One or more mobile robot and some other devices are connected via wireless network to form a network control system. More than one wireless node is provided in order to realize distribution wireless network and extend the coverage range. The hierarchy control structure is used in the robot controlsystem. It is optimized by the features of the network control system especially in time delay. This paper experimentally verifies that a multipleclient-server architecture based on switched Ethernet can be used as a real-time communication standard for possible applications in factory automation, by observing the effects of packet delays, network congestion, and packet loss on the performance of a networked controlsystem (NCS). The NCS experimental setup used in this research involves real-time feedback control of multiple plants connected to one or more controllers over the network. A multiclient-multiserver (MC-MS) architecture on a local area network (LAN) was developed using user datagram protocol as the communication protocol. In the single-client-single-server (SC-SS) system, as the Ethernet link utilization increased over 82%, the average packet delays and steady-state error of a dc motor speed-controlsystem increased by 2231% and 304%, respectively. As the link utilization increased beyond the threshold, employing an additional server in the NCS reduced average packet delays and also overcame the negative effects of Ethernet's flow control mechanism. The MC-MS architecture is tested with artificially generated random packet loss. The standard deviation of steady-state error (SSE) at 80% utilization with packet loss is found to be 70.2% less than SC-SS and 200% less than multiclient-single-server architecture. The MC-MS architecture remained stable till 70% of control or measurement packet loss.

The stabilization of a networkcontrolled system including a global time-varying delay is investigated in this note. This delay is considered to be unknown but it is assumed that a bounded error estimate is available. The exponential uncertainty induced by the time-varying delay is decomposed into the sum of a polytopic term and an uncertain bounded term. Sufficient conditions to design a dynamic output feedback controller depending on an estimate of the time-varying delay are proposed as linear matrix inequalities. This paper considers the mean square stabilization for a kind of network control system (NCS) in which there exist network-induced delay and stochastic packet dropout between sensor and controller. This kind of NCS is modelled as a Markovian switched system with two subsystems. Using the average dwell time method, we design a state feedback controller to guarantee that NCS be mean square exponentially stable. An illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
