The exponential growth of next-generation sequencing technologies has resulted in a massive influx of genomic data, posing significant challenges in storage, transmission, and processing. Conventional compression methods, such as gzip and bzip2, are not optimized for the unique structural patterns and redundancies of genomic sequences, leading to suboptimal performance. Addressing this gap, our research introduces a novel data compression framework that leverages network coding principles to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reliability. network coding, widely used in communication systems, is adapted here to process and compress genomic data by employing finite field arithmetic and redundancy-aware encoding techniques. Our method achieves a compression ratio of up to 50% while maintaining a data integrity level of 99.99%, as validated through extensive mathematical analysis and experimental testing on diverse genomic datasets. Furthermore, the framework demonstrates linear scalability and robust error resilience, making it particularly suited for large-scale applications in clinical genomics and research. By bridging the gap between traditional compression algorithms and the growing demands of modern genomic data, this study lays the groundwork for more efficient and reliable data management solutions in bioinformatics.

"Anyone who considers arithmetical methods of producing random digits is, of course, in a state of sin," [1] is a quote from the famous mathematician John von Neumann. In this work, we compare the most widely used arithmetical methods for randomness generation in terms of generation rate and seeding time. As a novelty of this work, we also consider the energy consumption, both for randomness generation as well as for seeding. We also argue that a "good" randomness generator is overrated for random linear network coding applications. Based on our measurements, we propose a faster method for generating randomness for RLNC with the same or better performance than traditional generators. In some scenarios, we reduce the linear dependencies by 40%. © VDE VERLAG GMBH - Berlin - Offenbach.

We consider the problem of reliable communication over a network containing a hidden myopic adversary who can eavesdrop on some z(ro) links, jam some z(wo) links, and do both on some z(rw) links. We provide the first information-theoretically tight characterization of the optimal rate of communication possible under all possible settings of the tuple (z(ro), z(wo), z(rw)) by providing a novel coding scheme/analysis for a subset of parameter regimes. In particular, our vanishing-error schemes bypass the network Singleton Bound (which requires a zero-error recovery criteria) in a certain parameter regime where the capacity had been heretofore open. As a direct corollary we also obtain the capacity of the corresponding problem where information-theoretic secrecy against eavesdropping is required in addition to reliable communication.

Quick genomic data transfer acts as an essential tool that public health teams need during emergencies like the COVID-19 outbreak. network coding stands as a technology evaluated for improving large-scale genomic data transmissions in distributed networks. The experimental results show that network coding leads to substantial improvement of transmission throughput through reduces times by 47.2% relative to other standard approaches. network coding technology displays superior error resilience capability because it recovers 92.3% of data at 10% error rate when compared to normal transmission methods which recover only 65.4%. The introduction of slight computational workloads provides high data integrity protection by maintaining reconstruction accuracy above 98.4% and achieving complete integrity for both small and large datasets. The utilization rate of networks can reach 89.5% across multiple server environments. The study demonstrates how network coding technology optimizes genetic data sharing processes by delivering quicker and more resilient and expandable information distribution for genomic research along with public health intervention programs.

Semantic communication can improve communication efficiency and quality. However, when the communication distance is long, it will cause severe signal attenuation. This paper discusses a cooperative relay network based on semantic network coding (CR-SNC) to improve the reliability problem in long-distance semantic communication image transmission. By introducing a relay node, we cooperatively encode the semantic information of multiple users at the relay. Without reducing the transmission efficiency, the reliability of image transmission in semantic communication is improved. The solution efficiently utilizes the characteristic of semantic information by using network coding techniques to jointly encode the semantic features of multiple users, thereby improving the reliability of transmission. Through experiments, compared with the traditional communication model, the cooperative relay network model proposed in this paper can achieve a better image restoration effect in the environment of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). © 2023 IEEE.

The model of multi-source multicast network coding is investigated in this paper, where each sink node desires to decode correctly the source messages generated by multiple source nodes. For this model, the rate region is defined as the set of rate tuples of source nodes at which the source nodes can multicast source messages to all sink nodes for one use of the network on average. In this paper, we fully characterize the rate region and investigate the code construction for the model of multi-source multicast network coding. We first prove that for any subset of source nodes, the sum rate is upper bounded by the smallest minimum cut capacity separating a sink node from the subset of source nodes. We further develop a systematic construction of vector-linear network codes by using a transformation approach. This code construction is applicable to an arbitrary rate tuple that is achievable. Based on the upper bounds obtained and the developed code construction, we fully characterize the rate region for any model of multi-source multicast network coding problem. © 2023 IEEE.

Since network coding technology was proposed, researchers have been enriching the theory of network coding and its related research has gradually become a field of interest for scholars, but the application and research of network coding technology in cloud storage and digital signature are still relatively missing. This paper mainly studies the application and development of network coding technology in cloud storage and digital signature, firstly introduces the technical knowledge about network coding and reviews its development history, introduces the main ideas and technical points of network coding in detail, then discusses the application of network coding in the field of cloud storage and digital signature, researches and analyzes its development respectively, and finally puts forward its views and open issues, and gives an outlook on the application prospect of network coding technology. © 2023 SPIE.

In the current generation of wireless networks, network coding has become popular for efficient communication of data over the wireless network. The network coding technique enables efficient communication of data by decreasing the latency in the network and improving the throughput of the network. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the performance of network coding techniques in wireless networks in order to achieve reliable and efficient communication. This paper provides an overview of the network coding techniques used in wireless networks and evaluates them in terms of latency, reliability and throughput. Finally, the paper offers some concluding remarks and future directions for research. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive insight and analysis of the use of network coding techniques for efficient communication over wireless networks. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient transmission of molecular data among labs is crucial for advancing cancer research and fostering collaboration. However, traditional data-sharing methods often cause delays, impeding research progress. This paper examines the role of network coding in improving the speed and efficiency of data transmission within cancer research. We analyze the limitations of current approaches, emphasizing the benefits of network coding as a transformative solution. The methodology of network coding is detailed, supported by a mathematical model demonstrating its effectiveness in optimizing data transfer processes. Furthermore, practical challenges and potential solutions for implementing network coding in real-world scenarios are discussed. By addressing these barriers, this paper highlights the potential of network coding to significantly accelerate data sharing, thereby enhancing the pace of discovery and innovation in cancer research.

In large-scale parallel computing systems, machines and the network suffer from non-negligible faults, often leading to system crashes. The traditional method to increase reliability is to restart the failed jobs. To avoid unnecessary time wasted on reboots, we propose an optimal scheduling strategy to enable fault-tolerant reliable computation to protect the integrity of computation. Specifically, we determine the optimal redundancy-failure rate tradeoff to incorporate redundancy into parallel computing units running multiple-precision arithmetics, like the Chinese Remainder Theorem, that are useful for applications such as asymmetric cryptography and fast integer multiplication. Inspired by network coding in distributed storage for disk failures, we propose coding matrices to strategically map partial computation to available computing units, so that the central unit can reliably reconstruct the results of any failed machine without recalculations to yield the final correct computation output. We propose optimization-based algorithms to efficiently construct the optimal coding matrices subject to fault tolerance specifications. Performance evaluation demonstrates that the optimal scheduling effectively reduces the overall running time of parallel computing while resisting wide-ranging failure rates. © 2023 IEEE.
