Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) are expected to constantly interact with a network of processing nodes installed in secure cabinets located at the side of the road - thus, forming Fog Computing-based infrastructure for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). Future city-scale ITS services will heavily rely upon the sensor data regularly off-loaded by each CAV on the Fog Computing network. Due to the broadcast nature of the medium, CAVs' communications can be vulnerable to eavesdropping. This paper proposes a novel data offloading approach where the Random Linear network coding (RLNC) principle is used to ensure the probability of an eavesdropper to recover relevant portions of sensor data is minimized. Our preliminary results confirm the effectiveness of our approach when operated in a large-scale ITS networks.

A code over finite alphabet is said to be locally recoverable (LRC) if each code symbol is function of small number of other symbols forming the recovering set [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. These codes were first proposed in [1] and immediate become popular due to obvious applications in distributed and cloud storage systems. Natural generalization of LRC codes is LRC codes with availability in which each code symbol has more than one disjoint recovering set. A LRC codes with availability is said to be optimal if its minimum distance achieves the Singleton-like bound developed by Kruglik et. al in this paper we study the maximum code length of q-ary optimal LRC with availability and then derive some structural properties.

network coding (NC) is an emerging technique that helps wireless networks to have higher throughput and better energy efficiency. In this paper, a novel network coding-aware routing (S-NC) which uses NC to improve reliability and robustness in unreliable WSNs is proposed. It is based on a structure-free routing algorithm as the underlying routing engine which employs neighbor queue length to increase coding opportunity;while exploiting a spatial coding method to control the amount of redundancy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on the topic of network codingaware routing in WSNs. Simulation results in TOSSIM demonstrate that S-NC significantly improves the performance in terms of reliability, end-to-end delay, and energy consumption in the network.
