A robust newton iterative algorithm for acoustic location based on solving linear matrix equations in the presence of various noises

Among many prevalent acoustic location techniques, the location problems can be modelled as solving a linear equation. Although many mature algorithms have been developed to solve the linear equation in acoustic location applications, few of them consider the inevitable noises in a real computing system that might degrade the convergence and accuracy of the algorithms or even lead to failure. Thus, to achieve promising performance when solving a linear equation in a noisy environment, a robust newton iterative (RNI) algorithm is proposed in this paper based on control theory. Theoretical analyses indicated that the RNI algorithm can not only suppress the constant noise to zero but also maintain convergence against an increasing linear noise and random noise. In addition, extensive simulation results compared with the classic algorithms and their last variants are provided. Among these algorithms, the RNI algorithm achieves the best robustness and accuracy in the presence of noises, while it requires a longer convergence time.

In this paper,we propose a newton iterative algorithm to numerically reconstruct a locally rough surface with Dirichlet and impedance boundary conditions by near-field measurements of acoustic *** algorithm relies on the Frechet differentiability analysis of the locally rough surface scattering problem,which is established by reducing the original model into an equivalent boundary value problem with compactly supported boundary *** a slight modification,the algorithm can be also extended to reconstruct the local perturbation of a non-local rough ***,numerical results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the inversion algorithm with the multi-frequency data.

In this paper we present an efficient numerical algorithm to solve stationary problems of hydrodynamic lubrication with cavitation in bearings using the method of characteristics in a finite element framework. The problem is based on the Elrod-Adams mathematical model for the lubricant fluid behavior. To achieve realistic pressure solutions, cavitation must be considered. This leads to a non-linear system of equations including a multivalued operator. In order to solve this problem, we propose a modified newton algorithm that presents a high convergence speed, allowing one to use small tolerances to solve the problem with high accuracy and efficiency using a low number of iterations, in comparison with alternative numerical algorithms in the literature to solve the same problem. Numerical results are presented and analyzed in the work.

Tunable antennas have become research hotspots due to their applicability and practicability. To get rid of complex peripheral facilities, a novel design featuring an efficient actuating strategy by liquid-gas phase transition is proposed, which consists of liquid metal embedded in soft polymer and alcohol stored above a ceramic heater. By simply applying voltage on the heater to induce evaporation of working medium, there appears a sharp increasement in internal pressure, which pushes the liquid metal antenna continuously from planar to tridimensional state. Both the experimental and numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the actuating strategy to adjust the antenna configuration.

MMSE-based transmission method for wireless powered communication networks

In this study, the authors consider the user rate optimisation for wireless powered communication networks (WPCNs). To improve the user rate, a novel minimum mean square error (MMSE)-based transmission method is proposed for WPCNs. For maximising the user rate, a user rate optimisation problem with MMSE constraints in the uplink transmission is formulated, which is considered as a convex optimisation problem. Considering the uplink power allocation, downlink energy beamforming, and the time ratio between uplink and downlink durations, a novel newton iterative algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal solution of the optimisation problem. Furthermore, the computational complexity of the MMSE-based method is illustrated by theoretical analysis. Simulation results show that the MMSE-based method can effectively improve the user rate compared to the zero-forcing suboptimal method and time division multiple access-energy harvesting method. Moreover, simulation results also show that the experimental runtime tends to coincide with the theoretical runtime in the MMSE-based method.

A high-order Lie groups scheme for solving the recovery of external force in nonlinear system

In this paper, we develop the high-order Lie group scheme to estimate a real-time external force exerted on nonlinear system. For estimating a real-time data, the equations of motion and the supplemental data are combined into a set of differential algebraic equations (DAEs), which is solved by an implicit Lie group differential algebraic equations method (LGDAE) and a newton iterative algorithm. However, an explicit LGDAE cannot work, and an implicit scheme cannot avoid a lot of iterative numbers and overcome numerical instability under a long time span and noisy-level effect. Because the original implicit LGDAE cannot satisfy the constraint of the cone structure, Lie group and Lie algebra at each time step, solutions highly dependent on ones cannot easily converge by a large time step. Therefore, we develop a high-order explicit LGDAE to avoid iterative numbers and numerical instability, and at the same time combined with higher order sliding modes to obtain real-time external force. The accuracy and efficiency of the novel scheme is validated by comparing the estimation results with the previous literature.

In time difference of arrival (TDOA) location system, the cooperative localization algorithm based on Particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Taylor series not only solves the problem that particle swarm is easy to fall into local optimum, but also avoids the inappropriate initial value which leads to non convergence of newton iterative algorithm. In practical applications, the coordinate information of observation station is usually obtained by GPS localization. Therefore, this paper proposed the influence of different site layouts on the positioning accuracy in WGS-84 coordinate system using collaborative localization method. Simulation results show that the cooperative localization algorithm has higher reliability and site layout has a great influence on the positioning accuracy of the cooperative localization algorithm. For the introduction of three types of site layout, collaborative localization algorithm in Triangle station layout has higher positioning accuracy.

This paper discusses the identification problems of Hammerstein controlled autoregressive autoregressive (CARAR) systems using the maximum likelihood principle and newton optimization method. A newton recursive algorithm and a newton iterative algorithm using the maximum likelihood principle are presented. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can effectively estimate the parameters of the Hammerstein CARAR systems.
