The formulation of the exponentially weighted least M-estimate has shown significant promise in addressing acoustic system identification amidst non-Gaussian noise. A common approach to this formulation is the recursive least M-estimate algorithm. However, due to its derivation from nonlinear normal equations, resulting in a slow approximate solution, this algorithm tends to exhibit poor convergence performance. In this paper, we present a newton-raphson solution, where the cost function is expanded using the second-order Taylor series to establish the adaptive algorithm. This approach bypasses the nonlinear normal equations, yielding a robust solution that more dynamically reflects changes in the cost function, ultimately leading to improved convergence and tracking performance.

The problem of obtaining optimal starting values for the calculation of square root using newton-raphson's Method is considered. This paper presents the best starting values theory in order to optimize the maximum absolute error after a given number of iterations. Two different methods are shown, and a third, which can be considered as a mixture of the previous two, is briefly discussed. The approach combines analytical and numerical methodologies, which gives more interesting results on the main characteristics of the behavior of the absolute error for different initializations. A comparison table between the traditional optimal relative error results and the absolute error ones is provided.

A newton-raphson algorithm for optimising dimension parameters of the electro-optical targeting system (EOTS) is proposed. Those spatial parameters are critical to the accuracy of position measurement in the targeting system. To calibrate EOTS, the newton-raphson iteration method is used to enhance the system accuracy. This algorithm is based on four tested points where each point is required to be located in four different quadrants in the target area. The newton-raphson iteration method minimises the difference between the calculated and the measured values obtained from any of two tested locations. This algorithm enhances the system accuracy up to +/- 1 mm within a 1 m x 1 m targeting area.

Different optimization approaches are explored to solve unconstrained minimization problems numerically in this paper. A classic optimization problem i.e., the Rosenbrock function is considered a benchmark to compare the performance of multiple algorithms including steepest descent, newton-raphson, and Fletcher-Reeves conjugate gradient. The performance of four methods including fixed step size, variable step size, quadratic fit, and golden section search region elimination with the steepest descent algorithm is investigated also. The required number of iterations to converge the minimum set point while solving problems is considered an evaluation metric. The converging trajectory of the algorithms is presented using level curves.

Maximum torque per ampere control (MTPA) takes full advantage of the reluctance torque aiming at the minimum copper loss, which can increase the torque output under the minimum current conditions. The traditional MTPA method makes use of equations with constant inductance values which are implemented as look-up tables. However, the inductances of the motor present both magnetic saturation and cross-saturation characteristics. Those parameters are changing depending on the operating point. This paper presents a novel MTPA control strategy of permanent-magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor (PMaSynRM) implementing a newton-raphson-Based Searching Method for improving the control accuracy for optimal current reference. The proposed method eliminates the need of fitting operations due to the nonlinearity of the MTPA formulation and takes the inductance variation, due to magnetic saturation, into account. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by means of Matlab/Simulink simulations.

The development of scalar loop constraint equations for determination of the time course of dependent global position coordinates of output links in mechanisms is described and applied in an example. In the article are explained the reasons why newton-raphson method is suitable for determination of dependent position coordinates time course from the loop equations of a mechanism. Despite solving equations numerically belongs to the most basic tasks, in the case of multidimensional nonlinear algebraic set of equations, the crucial question is how to supply a newton-raphson algorithm with good first guess of the solution. The exactness of initial values of all position coordinates of links as result of mechanism assembly process is also discussed. It is pointed out the usage of the newton-raphson algorithm in the corrector phase procedure during solution of mixed set of differential equations of motion and nonlinear algebraic equations of constraint in the Mechanical System Simulation technology.

This paper deals with several possible approaches, which may increase numerical stability of the newton-raphson (N-R) algorithm in load flow analysis. Although the N-R method represents highly straightforward approach in majority of load flow cases, for power systems with rather poor convergence it may have difficulties to obtain physical solutions. Therefore, divergence or even convergence to unreasonable results may appear using the original N-R code. Fortunately, various techniques (such as state update truncation, update factor relaxation, start point estimation, etc.) can be broadly employed to avoid such non-convergent scenarios. The aim of this paper is to find the best available stability algorithm providing reliable solutions with reduced number of iterations, lowest CPU time requirements, minimum computational burden and modification level of the original N-R method.

Adaptive tracking of nonlinear dynamic plants is an essential element of many control applications. The main difficulty felt in establishing,the tracking of nonlinear dynamic plants is the computational complexity in controller design. This paper presents novel technique for adaptive tracking of a class of nonlinear dynamic plants based on a new control oriented model known as U-model. The use of U-model alleviates the computational complexity of the nonlinear controller design that occurs when using other modelling frame works such as NARMAX model. The U-model is utilize to design an adaptive inverse controller by using a simple root-solving algorithm of newton-raphson. The synergy of U-model with AIC structure has provide an effective and straight forward method for adaptive tracking of nonlinear plants. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is justified by simulating two nonlinear plants and speed control of a laboratory scale DC motor in real-time.

This paper discusses the use of injected shunt and series voltage sources to model voltage-sourced converter (VSC)-based flexible ac transmission systems (FACTS) controllers such as the unified power-flow controller (UPFC) and the interline power-flow controller (IPFC). Compared to traditional power network models including only shunt voltage injections, the inclusion of series voltage injections provides a new capability of power system models and offers a common modeling framework in which a newton-raphson load-flow solution and a network sensitivity analysis can be readily developed. The sensitivities can be used for optimal dispatch of FACTS controllers.

This paper proposes advanced analytical, numerical and genetic algorithm (GA) approaches for retrieving the parameters of photovoltaic (PV) panel. A comparative study for extracting the five parameters of a single diode PV model is presented. Based on the datasheet values, a numerical based newton-raphson algorithm is investigated for solying the current-voltage relation of a single diode solar PV model. To highlight the rigorous performance of our models, a second analytical model is proposed. For improving the accuracy of solar panel parameters, a technique based on GA is established. This approach is based on the problem of research and optimization of the extracted parameters as an objective function. To account for variation in solar radiation and temperature, these models are presented under the reference and real operating conditions. The performances of the proposed algorithms are compared by using MATLAB scripts programming, and the theoretical advantages of GA model were demonstrated. The different models are validated experimentally by various tests of temperature and solar irradiance variation. The experimental results indicate that the GA model has a very satisfactory performance compared with the two other models and it offers good compromise between accuracy and fastness.
