The rapid development of information technology has necessitated the management of large volumes of data in modern society, leading to the emergence of nosql databases (e.g., MongoDB). To meet the huge demand for efficient data management and query, optimizing the performance of these databases has become crucial. Currently, some reinforcement learning-based methods have been used to improve the efficiency of databases by tuning customizable database configurations. However, these methods have limitations: they ignore operating system configurations, incur high training costs with more knobs, and adapt poorly to new environments with varying workloads and hardware. To address these issues, we propose a novel and effective approach named CTUNER for the online performance tuning of nosql databases. CTUNER skips cold start by Bayesian optimization-based learning, and improves the exploitation strategy of the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) model with causal inference. Practical implementation and experimental evaluations on three prominent nosql databases show that CTUNER can find a better configuration at the same time cost than state-of-the-art approaches, with up to a 27.4% improvement in throughput and up to 13.2% reduction in 95%-tail latency. Moreover, we introduce meta-learning to enhance the adaptability of CTUNER and confirm that it is able to reliably improve performance under new environments and workloads.

The use of digital systems for storing medical images generates a huge volume of data. Digital images are commonly stored and managed on a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), under the DICOM standard. However, PACS is limited because it is strongly dependent on the server's physical space. Alternatively, Cloud Computing arises as an extensive, low cost, and reconfigurable resource. However, medical images contain patient information that can not be made available in a public cloud. Therefore, a mechanism to anonymize these images is needed. This poster presents a solution for this issue by taking digital images from PACS, converting the information contained in each image file to a nosql database, and using cloud computing to store digital images.

With the development of Internet technology and Cloud Computing, more and more applications have to be confronted with the challenges of big data. nosql database is fit to the management of big data because of the characteristics of high scalability, high availability, and high fault-tolerance. The data partitioning strategy plays an important role in the nosql database. The existing data partitioning strategies will cause some problems such as low scalability, hot spot, and low performance and so on. In this paper we proposed a new data partitioning strategy-HRCH, which can partitioning the data in a reasonable way. At last we use some experiments to verify the effectiveness of HRCH. It shows that HRCH can improve the system's scalability, avoid the hot spot problem as far as possible. At the same time it also can improve the parallel degree of processing, which can improve the system's performance in some processing.

The amount of data on the Web and the number of users accessing those data drastically grows every year. Web-based services have to be able to receive and process those requirements within the shortest possible time. Additionally, they have to manage sudden and unpredictable peaks of user requirements for accessing the data. To tackle these problems, nosql databases have been designed to provide scalability and good performance. However, it is important to know in advance the number of resources (i.e. computers, network capacity) to efficiently deploy a database application. In this work, we propose a simulator for a nosql database named MongoDB. Our simulator aims to detect saturation levels of the resources to ensure an efficient execution of MongoDB upon different users demands and upon failures of resources.

Tremor is the most common symptoms of Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Essential Tremor (ET). Its detection and analysis during daily living plays a crucial role in the treatment of PD and ET patients. It is typically assessed in the clinic with certain tremor rating scales, which are qualitative, subject-dependent and do not necessarily reflect the real situation of the patient. In this paper, a system composed of a smartwatch, a smartphone and a nosql database sever is used to monitor the movements of the patients. A novel data analysis method is proposed to detect tremor and identify the connected actions. Tremor can be detected on the basis of the movement frequency difference and voluntary actions can also be recognized based on the rich information from the collected data. It helps clinicians to analyze the relationship between the tremor and a certain action. A series of simulated experiments are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system and data analysis method. The result shows that tremor happened during different situations can be detected with an adequate accuracy with the data collected by the proposed system. The actions around the tremor can also be identified.

The trajectory data often contains a large amount of information. So effective storage management is needed to analyze and apply the trajectory data. This paper proposes a distributed storage strategy for the characteristics of trajectory data and the requirement of data balance among distributed nodes. A trajectory data is converted into a rectangle by the MBR to ensure data integrity;and the center of the MBR is calculated for K-Means clustering;then, this paper divides the clustering results by grid and merges the grids with high overlap rate. Finally, a data partitioning strategy is used to store the divided data in each nodes so that the data volume of each node is balance. Experiments show that the proposed distributed storage strategy can effectively take into account the integrity of trajectory data, spatial proximity, data structure flexibility to achieve data balance among each nodes based on distributed nosql database.

nosql database system is widely used in Big Data environment for its high performance and scalability. Due to the width of usage of nosql database, it is inevitable to store sensitive data in it. Utilizing homomorphic encryption, sensitive data can be encrypted and calculated in the form of ciphertext to preserve privacy. Although calculating on homomorphically encrypted data is possible, searching on these data is not simple for the calculating results are encrypted and the search engine doesn't know what data should be sent back to the requester. A homomorphic searching scheme is proposed to handle this problem. In this scheme, the searching function is divided into two parts named homomorphic comparing and homomorphic decryption. The homomorphic comparing is executed by the encrypted data holder, and the homomorphic decryption is executed by the key holder. With this scheme, encrypted data holder can only get encrypted data and calculate the encrypted differences of these data, and the key holder can only get the encrypted differences and decrypt them. A sample implementation of the scheme with MongoDB is given. Analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheme is secure and practical.

In this paper we present a Bag-of-Words (also known as a Bag-of-Features) method developed for the use of its implementation in nosql databases. When working with this algorithm special attention was brought to facilitating its implementation and reducing the number of computations to a minimum so as to use what the database engine has to offer to its maximum. The algorithm is presented using an example of image storing and retrieving. In this case it proves necessary to use an additional step of preprocessing, during which image characteristic features are retrieved and to use a clustering algorithm in order to create a dictionary. We present our own k-means algorithm which automatically selects the number of clusters. This algorithm does not comprise any computationally complicated classification algorithms, but it uses the majority vote method. This makes it possible to significantly simplify computations and use the Javascript language used in a common nosql database.

This paper introduces the combination of nosql database HBase and enterprise search platform Solr so as to tackle the problem of the secondary indexing function with fast query. In order to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach, the assessment using C-P ratio has been done for several competitive benchmark databases and the proposed one. As a result, our proposed approach outperforms the other databases and fulfills secondary indexing function with fast query in nosql database.

Scientific data sets usually have similar jobs that are frequently applied to them by different users. In addition, many of these data sets are unstructured and complex, and required fast and simple processing. In order to increase the performance of the existing Hadoop and MapReduce algorithm, it is necessary to develop an algorithm based on the type of data sets and requirements of the jobs. Genomic and biological data is an example of unstructured data because it only has a huge sequence of unreadable and non-relational letters. In this paper, we present an overview of a developed MapReduce algorithm and its simulation using HBase as a nosql database.
