Beach pollution is an escalating global issue, posing a significant threat to marine ecosystems and human health. Plastic waste, originating from commercial activities, fishing, and improper waste management, is prevalent on beaches worldwide. This debris is transported by rivers and waterways, leading to widespread contamination. Additionally, climate change and pollution are expected to result in the loss of many sandy beaches, altering ecosystems and diminishing natural recreational areas. For this reason, an IoT-based system has been developed that, using low-cost autonomous cleaning robots on different beaches, can collect data and detect garbage using the new YOLO V10 architecture. As a result, the system was successfully implemented to store and alert users when a beach has a high level of pollution. It efficiently collects and saves data from multiple beaches in a safe nosql Database using multiple robots simultaneously. Additionally, the highest performance predictive model achieved an accuracy of 77.69%, a recall of 71.63%, and an F1 score of 74.53%.

Heterogeneity problem (data model, schema and semantics) is the one of the challenges of data integration from different big data stores. In order to overcome that problem in big data integration, semantic conceptual layer is constructed as an intermediate layer between different data stores by using ontology. To achieve this goal, there are two steps involved: generate local ontologies from different data systems and merge extracted local ontologies to build a global ontology. The main focus of the paper is merging ontologies which matches local ontologies by syntactic and semantic similarity measures. The two concepts are syntactically compared by Jaccard similarity measure and semantically compared by using WordNet. The matching approach takes into account the class name, internal structure (attributes) of the class, relationship (objectProperty relation, is-part-of relation) of the compared concepts. The performance of proposed algorithm will be compared other merging algorithms such as PROMPT.

Nowadays, when the Internet, software and hardware technologies develop rapidly, we are in a digital era where a wide range of resources generate data in different formats and 7/24. It is essential for organizations to quickly process data in near-real time and store it in a scalable form, especially without loss of data. In addition, the importance of streaming data processing due to the desire to get information quickly instantly increases. In this study, the popular nosql databases, which are prominent in streaming data processing, have been examined based on CAP's theorem. This work will help software developers in the selection and use of nosql databases for streaming data processing.

In the past, Relational Database (RDB) is widely used to access data quickly because of high data accuracy and consistency. However, the Big Data era forces many industries to change RDB in order to process a huge amount of data in time. nosql (Not only SQL) database (nosql DB) is a tailor-made DB. Various industries can choose a suitable nosql DB to enhance their competitiveness according to their operational needs. But the data in RDB still need to be saved for company’s operation. How to convert data from RDB to nosql DB is an important issue. This paper proposes an algorithm to transfer an RDB to the Wide Column Store DB (WCSDB), one of the most popular nosql databases. The experiment results show that WCSDB performs better than RDB.

Traditional relational row-oriented databases have some performance issues in the case of data-intensive systems that process large amounts of data. On the other hand, a column-oriented approach to data presentation has shown promising results when applied in analytical processing. This paper shows a design for a webhook (event notifications) software system to facilitate the usage of the columnar approach in data-intensive software systems. It will be an example of using the column store where the analytical requirement is not the primary one. The approach can be applied to any system in the data-intensive context, which has many data points and requirements to store, fetch, and aggregate based on a few specific from many fields.

The advent of cryptocurrencies has paved the way for an alternative financial system based on blockchain technology. The properties of this technology allow untrustworthy entities to exchange transactions with each other, confidentially, transparently and anonymously. This latter property combined to the solutions for mixing cryptocurrency transactions has contributed significantly to strengthening the anonymization of cryptocurrencies. Consequently, they have facilitated illegal activities. Nowadays, the majority of financial crimes are carried out using cryptocurrencies. To mitigate this problem, cryptocurrencies forensics techniques have been suggested with the aim of reducing illicit financial activities. However, most of these existing approaches do not support real-time processing, do not offer architecture for Big Data processing. Moreover, these methods do not provide an optimized data storage system based on a graph database. This paper performs a comprehensive investigation into cryptocurrencies forensics techniques including real-time big data processing and graph database storage. It explores and classifies existing cryptocurrencies forensics techniques to effectively support decision making for their implementation. Furthermore, it reviews recent research effort to enforce graph data storage system, big data and real-time processing while executing cryptocurrencies forensics. Through this paper, we aim to clear up the outlook by suggesting an outline of the different method, tools and application when raising the basic differences and presenting associated advantages and limitations. More importantly, we underline current challenges and future research directions to stimulate research in cryptocurrencies forensics with real-time and big data processing using graph data storage.

In the Data Technology (DT) era, data have become the most important means of production. With the rapid development of cloud computing, the database technology has become the most basic data technology facility. Especially, the Distributed databases have been widely used to store and process large-scale data, which are applied in different scenarios than relational databases. In addition, blockchain technology has led to changes in decentralized architecture. The BigchainDB database is based on a distributed database with the features of blockchain. It has not only the advantages of distributed database, such as high throughput, low latency and easy expansion, but also has the characteristics of blockchain, such as decentralized control, tamper-proof and traceability. This paper mainly analyzes the comparison between the BigchainDB and other distributed databases in terms of execution performance. In practice, this paper focuses on the characteristics of BigchainDB, then compares the performance of creating and querying transactions between the BigchainDB and two important distributed databases: HadoopDB and Hive. The experiments in this paper show three things. Firstly, the BigchainDB is obviously better than HadoopDB and Hive in transaction creation. Secondly, the transaction query performance of the BigchainDB is one order higher than them. Thirdly, the BigchainDB is three orders of magnitude higher than them in fuzzy query performance. These results demonstrate that BigchainDB is significantly better than HadoopDB and Hive in both the performance of read and write.

Database schemas evolve over time to satisfy changing application requirements. If this evolution is not performed correctly, some quality attributes are at risk such as data integrity, functional correctness, or maintainability. To help developer teams in the design of database schemas, several design methodologies for nosql databases have proposed to use conceptual models during this process. The use of an explicit conceptual model can also help developers in the tasks of schema evolution. In this work-in-progress paper, we propose a framework that, given a change in the conceptual model, identifies what must be modified in a nosql database schema and the underlying data. We researched several open source projects that use Apache Cassandra to study the benefits of using a conceptual model during the schema evolution process as well as to understand how these models evolve. In this first work, we have focused on studying seven types of conceptual model changes identified in these projects. For each change we describe the transformation required in the database schema to maintain the consistency between the schema and the model as well as the migration of data required to the new schema version.

Database integration systems are not a novel concept in computing, but with frequenting application of nosql databases in real-world information systems the requirement of homogenizing structured and unstructured data is being expanded. In contrast to former applications on relational database systems, database integration systems now must also encompass schemaless data. The aim of this paper is to present a taxonomy, architectural alternatives and patterns of database integration systems, considering newer developments in the field of database systems.

Geospatial Data Warehouse (GDW) is a repository of historical and geospatial data used in the decision-making process. This kind of system manages large volumes of data and supports Spatial On-Line Analytical Processing (SOLAP) queries. The use of nosql databases in the construction of GDW is still an unexplored topic, even though nosql databases present good performance and high scalability with low-cost hardware. In this context, we seek to identify the level of redundancy of geospatial data in Document-Oriented GDW (DGDW) that reduces the storage cost and increases the performance of SOLAP queries. Using the MongoDB database, we exhaustively define and investigate nine DGDW schemas, which have different levels of geospatial data redundancy in their dimensions. We performed an experimental evaluation of these schemas in a cluster structure, to analyze the data volume and the runtime of seven queries which simulate SOLAP operations in geospatial fields with different levels of redundancy and selectivity. Our experimental results indicate that the normalization of low-selectivity geospatial fields and the denormalization of high-selectivity geospatial fields are good strategies to reduce the storage cost and improve the performance of SOLAP queries. The results of our experimental evaluation are an important contribution because they can be used as a guide for construction of DGDW.
