A Simultaneous Coupled nonlinear algorithm for the Analysis of Steel Frames with Flexible Joints Considering Joint Unloading

This paper presents a finite element plasticity-based computer algorithm to analyze steel frames with flexible joints under static proportional loading, unloading, and reverse loading. Each connection mechanism is modeled using a rotational spring element with two nodes of identical spatial coordinates and the same translational degrees of freedom and different rotational degrees of freedom for modeling the relative rotation of the beam and ends of the connection. Instead of using a classical coupled nonlinear algorithm for the connection element and member geometric stiffness, a unique solution method is introduced that simultaneously iterates to find the incremental connection element and member geometric stiffness of the structure through solving the nonlinear system equation. To model unloading and reverse loading at the joints between beams and columns, a three-parameter, kinematics hardening model for moment-rotation behavior is considered. For proof-of-concept, a one-story, one-bay frame with two connections is considered for parametric study. It is shown that different connection constitutive equation (moment-rotation characteristic) in a frame could cause moment reversal in some connection(s).

An iterative postprocessing algorithm is proposed in the paper to reduce the coding artifacts produced by block based motion compensated transform coding. In the proposed approach, the adaptive spatial operations followed by the adaptive motion compensated temporal operation are applied to the reconstructed image iteratively. As both the spatial and the temporal operations are adaptive to the image contents in both the spatial and the temporal domain, iteratively applying those operations to the reconstructed image can greatly reduce the coding artifacts without blurring image details. The computer simulations show that by using the proposed algorithm, one can reduce the coding artifacts and improve the quality of the reconstructed image effectively.

This article uses the nonlinear digital chaos theory algorithm to generate the corresponding encryption system initial parameters, by analysing the correlation degree of image elements from the angles of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal direction, in order to study computer three-dimensional (3D) image encryption processing. The correlation degree of the cypher text obtained by the nonlinear algorithm is weak in the image's adjacent pixels, and the adjacent pixels are not related at all, horizontal angle: 0.915989, vertical angle: 0.968184, diagonal angle: 0.913533. The nonlinear algorithm distributes the image's statistical features into the random cypher text. By applying permutations and replacements in 3D space, the proposed approach improves performance parameters and widens key space in comparison to previous image cryptography investigations. The important qualities of such a secure system are its simplicity and efficacy. Simulations and analysis show that the proposed method can produce a large key space while also surviving standard cipher attacks. Because of its powerful cryptographic properties, it is suited for image applications. The nonlinear algorithm has very high sensitivity to the secret key and plaintext, as well as better statistical performance, higher security, and higher efficiency in the operation of the algorithm.

The basic task of railway signal work is to ensure safe and smooth transportation, improve transportation capacity, and improve transportation conditions and quality. Since it carries important information and control technology;it must be characterized by high security and high reliability. To address the aforementioned issues, this study uses a nonlinear technique to provide high-precision real-time detection of frequency shift signal parameters, based on an investigation of the sources of spectrum leakage in the FFT transformation. It not only reduces the sampling time but also the computation time when compared to the nonlinear method. This paper presents a frequency shift track circuit parameter based on nonlinear algorithm, studies the application of frequency shift signal parameter detection based on nonlinear algorithm, and simulates it with MATLAB. The experimental results show that the errors of center frequency, low frequency, and frequency offset are distributed in the range of +/- 0.05 Hz, +/- 0.005 Hz and +/- 0.15 Hz, respectively, which meet the parameters of frequency shift signal. The algorithm can meet the requirement of technical indexes and shorten the sampling time, which provides a theoretical basis for the design of the real-time frequency shift signal parameter tester.

Based on nonlinear coupled algorithm, consensus problem of first-order multi-agent systems with time-varying input delay is investigated. Firstly, by utilizing Lyapunov theorem and LaSalle invariance principle, sufficient consensus condition for the multi-agent systems is obtained when the directed interconnection topology is strongly connected. Secondly, the above conclusion is extended to the case of weakly connected digraph by applying algebraic graph theory and matrix theory. Lastly, computer simulation examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Implementing a nonlinear groundwater module in the soil and water assessment tool (SWAT)

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is widely used in modeling water quantity and quality. In the original SWAT, groundwater flow is calculated using a linear-reservoir model, with outflow proportional to storage. However, observations show that this assumption is not always applicable;for example, macropores in Karst formations would seriously affect the groundwater behavior. A nonlinear groundwater algorithm was introduced in a new version of the SWAT model, called ISWAT. The Shenandoah Valley area in the Eastern U.S., which includes a number of geologic formations including Karst, was selected to test the modified ISWAT model. Parameter ESTimation (PEST) was coupled with ISWAT to auto-calibrate the nonlinear parameter values. Ten years of record at 15 stream gauges were used to calibrate the model. The nonlinear ISWAT, statistically and visually, performed better in stream discharge estimation especially during baseflow recession and low-flow periods. This indicated that the nonlinear algorithm can better represent groundwater behavior. The coupled ISWAT-PEST approach can be used in future stream discharge simulation. Leader-following consensus of multi-agent systems under directed communication topology via distributed adaptive nonlinear protocol

In this paper, we study the leader-following consensus problem of general linear multi-agent systems under directed communication topology. To avoid using any global information, an adaptive nonlinear protocol is proposed based only on the relative state information. It is proved that, for any directed communication graph that contains a spanning tree with the root node being the leader agent, the proposed control law solves the leader-following consensus problem. The paper is devoted to the questions of mathematical modeling of heating processes in hydrodynamics, namely to development and to mathematical justification of numerical algorithms for solving three-dimensional equations of free convection in natural variables. The purpose is to research implicit iterative schemes for the numerical solution of Boussinesq-type fixed (stationary) equations. The research uses mathematical modeling, mathematical programming, the Visual Fortran programming language, and the Axum 7.0 graphics program. Computational mathematics and functional analysis methods are used for the mathematical argumentation of iterative algorithms. The questions of convergence and estimate of a degree of convergence of one nonlinear splitting algorithm are considered, made for the difference analogues of the system of free convection steady-state equations in variables "velocity vector and pressure", written to shifted grids with symmetric approximation. The implicit iterative splitting algorithms for the difference analogues of the system of free convection steady-state equations in variables "velocity vector and pressure" are considered, written to shifted grids with symmetric approximation. The problems of stability of the difference problems according to the initial data and the right member, convergence and estimate of the linear algorithm degree of convergence were studied. The results of this research can be useful in studies on difference schemes for hydrodynamic equations;they can also be used to further develop the theory of numerical solution of mathematical physics problems. The research results may be used in information system development for the automation of heat-aggregation exchange problem solving and as a teaching material for students learning mathematics, mechanics, and IT technologies. A nonlinear L₁-Norm Approach for Joint Image Registration and Super-Resolution

This letter proposes a nonlinear L-1-norm approach for joint image registration and super-resolution (SR). Image SR is the fusion of multiple low-resolution (LR) images to produce a high-resolution (HR) image. Conventional SR algorithms are sensitive to the initial registration error and outliers in the LR images. In view of this, we present a new SR method to address these problems using L-1-norm optimization in joint image registration and HR image reconstruction. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in handling these issues in the HR image reconstruction.
