In response to the increasing demands for modeling and rendering of deformable, nonrigid objects in graphics applications,and having recognized the lack of a fundamental graphics system to support the applications,we study a new theoretical framework for nonrigid *** the core of the theory is a physically-based numerical deformation model which characterizes the elasticity and viscoelasticity of objects in geometric transformation.A tetrahedral mass-spring representation is proposed to support the physical model,in contrast to the conventional graphics architecture and systems in which rigid objects and affine transforms are *** proposed theoretic framework will pave the way to direct representations and operations on deformable objects and nonrigid transformation in future graphics systems. Furthermore,we discuss the implementation of the framework in the form of kernels on the new-generation GPU,addressing a hardware acceleration solution to modeling and rendering of the deformation processes,that is,a transform feedback architecture and the numerical process kernels on *** GPU kernels can effectively solve the problem of invisible physically-based deformation processes,via the kernel-to-kernel pipeline designed for real-time rendering.
