Intelligent classification of land cover types in open-pit mine area using object-oriented method and multitask learning

Although the exploitation of mineral areas brings wealth to society, it inevitably leads to the degradation of the surrounding natural environment. To understand and assess the influences of mining activities on the geological and ecological environment, land cover classification in open-pit mine areas (LCCMA) is of great significance. This research proposes an intelligent classification framework for LCCMA based on an object-oriented method and multitask learning (MTL), named the MTL Classification Framework (MTLCF). With the help of MTL, each land cover type in open-pit mine areas obtains its exclusive and receivable object-oriented feature sets using the model-agnostic method. After that, the feature sets are fused with the original images. EfficientNet, a spatial pyramid pooling module, and a global attention upsample module are assembled as the segmentation models with the structure of the encoder and decoder to classify intelligently each land cover type in open-pit mine areas. Finally, the models were trained, and ablation experiments were performed. The experimental results show that our proposed framework -MTLCF was effective for classification in LCCMA, and the overall accuracy and the mean of F1 score for the MTLCF in LCCMA were 85.6% and 86.06%, respectively. Linking GIS and water resources management models: an object-oriented method

Many challenges are associated with the integration of geographic information systems (GISs) with models in specific applications. One of them is adapting models to the environment of GISs. Unique aspects of water resource management problems require a special approach to development of GIS data structures. Expanded development of GIS applications for handling water resources management analysis can be assisted by use of an object oriented approach. In this paper, we model a river basin water allocation problem as a collection of spatial and thematic objects. A conceptual GIS data model is formulated to integrate the physical and logical components of the modeling problem into an operational framework, based on which, extended GIS functions are developed to implement a tight linkage between the GIS and the water resources management model. Through the object-oriented approach, data, models and users interfaces are integrated in the GIS environment, creating great flexibility for modeling and analysis. The concept and methodology described in this paper is also applicable to connecting GIS with models in other fields that have a spatial dimension and hence to which GIS can provide a powerful additional component of the modeler's tool kit. The design of the Production Activity Control system (PAC) of a manufacturing system is a costly and difficult task since it must be adapted to the workshop characteristics and to its environment, Reuse of past experiences and integration of commercial software is a key issue in order to improve the PAC system quality, and in order to decrease the cost and time of its development. In order to fulfil these requirements two types of tools are necessary: reference models to structure the organisation of the PAC system and software engineering tools to build the PAC system. The object-oriented methods are good candidates to realise the latter since they are recognised as providing efficient support in order to shorten the code development phases. Moreover, they allow to develop modular and reusable software. Nevertheless, most of the applications developed in the past years focused on very low level control structure design, and there is still a lack in supporting tools for the design of complex production activity control architectures, In this paper, we suggest to define modular reference models of PAC modules in order to provide a structuring framework for PAC system organisation specification. Then we use adapted object-oriented techniques to derive the PAC organisation description into a real PAC system. An example, based on a real workshop of AEROSPATIALE and using the FUSION method, is provided.

NDVI-Based Lacunarity Texture for Improving Identification of Torreya Using object-oriented method

Normalized Difference Vegetation Index （NDVI） is a very useful feature for differentiating vegetation and non-vegetation in remote sensed imagery. In the light of the function of NDVI and the spatial patterns of the vegetation landscapes, we proposed the lacunarity texture derived from NDVI to characterize the spatial patterns of vegetation landscapes concerning the ＂gappiness＂ or ＂emptiness＂ characteristics. The NDVI-based lacunarity texture was incorporated into object-oriented classification for improving the identification of vegetation categories, especially Torreya which was the targeted tree species in the present research. A three-level hierarchical network of image objects was defined and the proposed texture was integrated as potential sources of information in the rules base. A knowledge base of rules created by classifier C5.0 indicated that the texture could potentially be applied in object-oriented classification. It was found that the addition of such texture improved the identification of every vegetation category. The results demonstrated that the texture could characterize the spatial patterns of vegetation structures, which could be a promising approach for vegetation identification.

Networked video courseware(NVC) provides a new research perspective for resource development in education technology field by combining education technology and film arts knowledge. Teachers often have difficulty in fulfilling complex courseware designs due to the lack of sufficient film arts knowledge. This paper presents a systematic object-oriented knowledge modeling which is developed and described in Unified Modeling Language (UML) for NVC design by summarizing and analyzing the expertise, cognitive rules and practices of various video elements applied in teaching. In the NVC system model, associations between entities and the NVC template structure is discussed in detail. A case study is given to demonstrate the procedure of how the NVC knowledge is expressed.

The classification and mapping method is vital for many fields of research and has important societal and economic meaning. In this study, we applied QuickBird image to discuss a Multi-scale segmentation method about orchard in Taolin region, Ningxia province in China. Meanwhile, eCognition, as the leading object-oriented software in the world, was used to achieve the goal of classification and mapping. Then, based on the image object's attributes, relationship of each other etc, we formulated a orchard classification system, set a suit of remote sensing interpretation standard, and put forward a Multi-scale segmentation idea to realize sophisticated classification and get satisfied classification result.

With the fast development of cryptography research and computer technology, the cryptosystems of RSA and Diffe-Hellman are getting more and more unsafe, and Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem is becoming the trend of public cryptography in the future. This paper mainly uses object-oriented technology as tools, and divides Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem into several layers, every of which corresponds a class. The properties and methods of these classes are discussed, and some methods are implemented. In the end, the advantages are analyzed, and the cryptosystem implemented with advanced programming language is easy to transplant.

The geospatial coordinate system is usually described by Well-Known Text (WKT) defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). However, Oracle Spatial has different mechanism to represent geospatial coordinate system by tables and relationship between these tables. There is a problem that adding a coordinate into Oracle Spatial is complicated. This paper proposed a way to map the coordinate system in WKT format into Oracle Spatial by parsing WKT into objects by object-oriented method. Using objects as an intermediate layer and mapping these objects into Oracle Spatial, added user-defined coordinate system into Oracle Spatial. The result of experiment shows that this method is fast, efficient, and reusable. © 2010 IEEE.

The process of rapid urbanization in China features two opposing trends： declining rural population and increasing rural residential land, especially in southern hilly areas. The extraction and analysis of residential land in rural China represents an important application for remote sensing technology. The study aimed to discover rural residential land information using RapidEye satellite imagery, taking Taihe County as the research area in the hilly region of southern China. Based on multiple experiments, classification was conducted with an optimal image segmentation scale set to 200. The object-oriented classification rule set was constructed using the customized parameters NDVI, NDWI, brightness, and length/width. The areas of residential land and other land use types were interpreted by varying the parameter values for classification rule sets. Finally, validation and accuracy evaluations were carried out. The overall accuracy of residential land interpretation is 78.40%, and producer＇s accuracy and user＇s accuracy are 68.75% and 77.33%, respectively. The results indicate that RapidEye provides a suitable data source for extraction of rural residential land using an object-oriented approach. Compared with the second national land survey of China, the classification gave an absolute difference of 93.67 ha residential land within the study area. Recognition errors occurred mainly in regions adjacent to the boundaries between residential land and other types of land.

In this paper, the necessity of designing product in concurrent way is proposed by analyzing the product development process. Based on the object-oriented technique, the product and process model is established. According to this model, a frameworks system integrating the technique tool CAD system with PDM is developed and the implementation method is given. The capability of product data management is enhanced, the design efficiency is improved and the design time is shortened to great extent by means of this system.
