A heat-pipe thermoelectric generator system is technically optimal to combined with other energy sources converting heat to electricity in multiple applications for its unique advanced features. This study addresses the challenge of optimizing the efficiency and safety margin of the system by focusing on the critical multi-physical coupling performance between heat pipes and thermoelectric generators. Using an object-oriented approach with Modelica, we developed novel models-a heat pipe model integrating two-dimensional transient heat conduction with one-dimensional pressure equations and a thermoelectric generator model incorporating three thermoelectric effects and contact resistances. These models were validated against existing studies, showing general relative deviations less than 5%. Application to the NUSTER-100 system yielded results aligning with the findings in the reference and relative deviations around 5%, demonstrating feasibility and fidelity in simulating complex energy conversion systems under steady-state and transient conditions. The novelty lies in the comprehensive modeling of the coupled performance at the system level, enhancing understanding and application beyond previous isolated studies.

This paper presents a specification and object-oriented modelling technique for a distributed application. Precise specification ensures proper interaction behaviour between information components. The complexity of a distributed application is resolved by modelling the application entity as a collection of objects. The objects act and interact with each other in accordance with the interface specification. The technique is applied to the X.400 Message Handling System and a prototype of object-oriented implementation of the MHS is produced.

The lack of sufficient water quality data in many places hinders the efforts of surface water quality modeling, and therefore affects the process of water quality management. In this paper, the potential of an object-oriented simulation environment for surface water quality management, based on the concepts of system dynamics (00-SD),. is discussed. The characteristics, along with a brief explanation, of the 00-SD approach are provided. A case study on the use of the 00-SD modeling approach for surface water quality management in southeastern Kentucky, USA, is described to highlight key features of the approach. In a later section, advantages and present shortcomings of the 00-SD approach to model hydrologic systems are discussed. The potential use of the proposed approach, especially in data-poor conditions, and the challenges that lie ahead of hydrologists to fully exploit such a modeling approach are identified. Owing to the increasing role of integrated supply chain design and management, the traditional task of manufacturing systems design is becoming more complex. The variety of tasks involved in such an activity, both at the level of structural network design and management, calls for a modular approach, enabling the designer to experiment with different alternatives, by assembling a set of predefined building blocks. object-oriented simulation languages, such as MODSIM, are well-suited to this task. However, a modeling methodology at a higher level is needed in order to design the building blocks properly;furthermore, object-oriented modeling makes both the documentation and the transition from modeling to operational software easier. In this paper we outline a small case study, tackled by OMT (objectmodeling technique) methodology. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

The advantages of object-oriented modeling, as modularity and reusability of components, are very important not only for software development but also for modeling manufacturing systems. Recently, a unified object-oriented approach for modeling both the logical and the physical part of a manufacturing machine has been proposed. In this paper, we show the effectiveness of this new modeling framework on an industrial application. The case study consists of the package forming unit of a filling machine for liquid food packaging, developed by Tetra Pak Carton Ambient S.p.A.

In this paper, we present the ADORA approach to object-oriented modeling of software (ADORA stands for analysis and description of requirements and architecture). The main features of ADORA that distinguish it from other approaches like UML are the use of abstract objects (instead of classes) as the basis of the model, a systematic hierarchical decomposition of the modeled system and the integration of all aspects of the system in one coherent model. The paper introduces the concepts of ADORA and the rationale behind them, gives an overview of the language, sketches a novel concept for visualizing the model hierarchy with a tool and reports the results of a validation experiment for the ADORA language. As the impact of and demand for software increases, there is greater need for rigorous software development techniques that can be used by a typical software engineer. We have added formal syntax and semantics definitions to an existing object-oriented modeling notation in order to integrate informal and formal approaches to software development. This formalization enables developers to construct object-oriented models of requirements and designs and then automatically generate formal specifications for the diagrams. These formal specifications enable the diagrams to be analyzed by a number of existing automated reasoning utilities, including behavior simulators, model checkers, and rewriting systems.

Feed drives are one of the most important parts of machine tools. Their static and dynamic behavior strongly influences the positioning accuracy and their speed determines productivity. The control parameters play a decisive role concerning the performance of the mechatronic system and for control analysis, a sufficient model of the feed drive system is necessary. This paper demonstrates the structure of a feed drive system using object-oriented modeling in MATLAB/SIMSCAPETM. The model is validated by comparing simulation with measured results for the example of a precision machining center. The modeling methodology of feed drives illustrated in this paper provides a tool, which enables engineers to analyze and optimize the control parameters in the machine tool design phase.

The work presented in this paper is the modeling of an information system supporting all activities of the reverse logistics(RL). In order to gather knowledge about the current state of the art on this topic, a literature review is established for the available research works which are classified using a suitable criteria. Based on this review, our work consist of developing an information system (IS) design for reverse logistics (RL) management. The proposed modeling is based on an object-oriented analysis approach. The results announced at the analysis step includes the use case diagrams which modeling the dynamic aspect of the system with the actors interacting processes and a class diagram that models the key concepts of information managed in the system. This modeling is generic for a company which takes into account good practices in RL.
