The program environment for electromechanical system analysis based on object-oriented approach and authorial method of mathematical modeling is presented. This environment allows constructing computer models of comprehensive electrotechnical systems with semiconductor converters. Such computer models are distinguished by the high operation speed and ability of real-time operation in interaction with physical equipment. These features of computer models developed using the program environment allow their application in testing physical control systems by connecting a real control system to a computer simulator of the controlled object.

Design for serviceability influences the product usage life and is one of the active research areas of environmentally conscious design and manufacturing (ECDM). This paper deals with the development of a framework ibs serviceability analysis and evaluation of electromechanical and mechanical products. The framework consists of two major modules: serviceability evaluation module and object-oriented data modeling module. In this paper, the fuzzy neural network based serviceability evaluation module is briefly presented. Detailed description of this module appears in another paper by the authors [8]. The object-oriented data modeling module (OODM) consists of two sub-modules: object-oriented product data model (OOPDM) and object-oriented service resources model (OOSRM). The OOPDM and OOSRM supports the serviceability evaluation.

The paper deals with automotive power window systems and, in particular, tackles the problem of validating the object-oriented model of a single bowden system, to be used within a Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) approach. Therefore, the paper tackles the problem of increasing accuracy of object-oriented models by defining model refinements i.e. by identifying objects whose modelling has to be improved. Firstly, the role of object-oriented modelling and the main characteristics of the power window system are summarized. Then, the objectoriented model of an automotive single bowden power window system is presented. Finally, the experimental phase, performed to characterize the behavior of the real system is summarised and the validation of simulation model, as well as the identification of model refinement, are accomplished.

We propose the concept of "atomic use case" and demonstrate how this concept can be used to bring the analysis of functional requirements of information systems to a much deeper level than usual, and ultimately to construct a precise specification of the system's functionality. Specifically, the complete functionality of an information system is defined by a set of atomic use cases, which axe consistently specified in terms of their input, output, pre- and postcondition. We also show that the usefulness of the atomic use case concept goes beyond analysis. With this concept, a characterization of the business logic layer can be clearly formulated, and this layer can be systematically extended to effectively support the construction of graphical user interface.

This paper presents comparisons of two power flow methodologies for distribution system analysis: the three-phase current injection method - TCIM and the forward/backward sweep - FBS. These techniques were applied for large scale three-phase distribution systems, the advantages and drawbacks are emphasized and their computational performances are presented. During the urban distribution process, unexpected events may frequently result in disruptions to the current distribution plan, which need to be handled in real-time vehicle routing. In this paper, a knowledge-based modeling approach, PAM (disruption-handling Policies, local search Algorithms and object-oriented modeling), is developed, which combines the scheduling knowledge of experienced schedulers with the optimization knowledge concerning models and algorithms in the field of Operations Research to obtain an effective solution in real time. Experienced schedulers can respond to different disruptions promptly with heuristic adjustment based on their experience, but their solutions may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or even infeasible. This method is limited when the problem becomes large-scale. The model-algorithm method can handle large-scale problems, but it has to predefine a specific disruption and a specific distribution state for constructing a model and algorithm, which is inflexible, time-consuming and consequently unable to promptly obtain solutions for responding to different disruptions in real time. PAM modeling approach combines the advantages and eliminates the disadvantages of the two methods aforementioned. Computational experiments show that solutions achieved by this modeling approach are practical and the speed of achieving the solutions is fast enough for responding to disruptions in real time. This paper presents a systematic approach to developing a collaborative environment for computer-aided concurrent net shape product and process development. This approach includes the steps of (1) conventional development process analysis, (2) development process re-engineering, (3) computer-based system functional requirements analysis, (4) system framework design, and (5) system modeling, integration and implementation. This environment can support concurrent net shape product and process development by providing and integrating functions of product data management, process management and development advisory tools. The results of this research will facilitate the rationalization and automation of net shape product and process development and thus improve the efficiency and quality, and reduce the cost of net shape product development. IDEF structural analysis methodology was employed to capture the characteristics of net shape product and process development process, The concept of concurrent engineering was used to re-engineer the development process. The technology of system engineering was used to design the computer-aided system framework. object-oriented analysis, modeling and design methodology, knowledge engineering and data engineering techniques were employed for system modeling and implementation. The design of a higher-layer controller using model predictive control (MPC) is considered. The higher-layer controller uses MPC to determine set-points for controllers in a lower control layer. In this paper the use of an object-oriented model of the system for making predictions is proposed. When employing such an object-oriented prediction model the MPC problem is a nonlinear, non-smooth optimization problem, with an objective function that is expensive to evaluate. Multi-start pattern search is proposed as approach to solving this problem, since it deals effectively with the local minima and the non-smoothness of the problem, and does not require expensive estimation of derivatives Experiments in an. emergency voltage control problem on a 9-bus dynamic power network show the superior performance of the proposed multi-start pattern-search approach when compared to a gradient-based approach. We pretend that inserting a terminology between informal textual documents and their formalization can help to serve both of these goals. Modern terminology extraction tools support the formalization process by using terms as a first sketch of formalized concepts. Moreover, the terms can be employed for linking the concepts and the textual sources. They act as a powerful navigation structure.
