New methods for obtaining observer-based forms of descriptor controllers are presented in this paper. The derived controller is input-output equivalent to the initial controller with a separated estimation/control structure. The general form includes a static control and estimation gains with or without an extra descriptor Youla parameter. A numerical example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

In this paper, we present two alternative observer-based H ∞ , control design methods for linear dynamic systems with unknown delay, the later is assumed to evolve in a pre-specified interval. based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and some algebraic manipulations, we design observer-based control laws that guarantee the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop control system and the estimation errors. The obtained results are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The theoretical claims and the methods reliability are clearly illustrated via two simple examples.

This paper deals with H-infinity observer-based feedback control for linear time-delay systems, in the framework of delay independent stability. We will propose a new LMI solution to observer-controller design that ensures a disturbance attenuation level for the controlled output as well as for the state estimation error, which is an open problem. This will be compared with a well-known solution and with a usual strategy in control which consists in designing the observer and the controller separately. Our aim is to try to bring a positive answer to the following question: is there an interest to solve the problem in a single (unique) formulation or should we design separately the observer and the controller? An application to a wind tunnel model is provided to emphasize the interest of the given results, particularly in comparison with existing results on H-infinity observer-based control.

This paper provides a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach to delay-dependent observer-based stabilizing and H-infinity controller design for linear state-delayed systems. The resulted delay-dependent criteria for the existence of controllers are presented by two independent LMIs via constructing a proper Lyapunov functional. The benefits of the proposed method lie in: (1) The feedback-gain and the observer-gain can be computed simultaneously;(2) The delay-bound or the H-infinity performance bound can be optimized;(3) The result obtained is less conservative than the previous work existing in the literature. A numerical example illustrates the potentiality of our claim.

This paper treats the output feedback H-2 control with H-infinity norm constraint (mixed H-2/H-infinity control problem). In general, this problem is a BMI problem which is difficult to be solved theoretically. The purpose of this paper is to propose an iterative method for obtaining a sub-optimal solution of the mixed H-2/H (infinity) control problem. The key idea of this paper is to employ a full-order observer-based controller. The proposed method produces a sequence of controllers which approaches to the unconstrained globally optimal H-2 controller while it satisfies the H-infinity norm constraint. A numerical example shows the effectiveness of our method.

This paper presents Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC) architecture for vehicle lateral dynamics described by Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model with parametric uncertainties and sensor faults. Using the LMI formulation, the T-S uncertain fuzzy model of vehicle dynamics is used to design an output feedback observer-based controller, a method based on observer bank is then investigated for detection, isolation and accommodation of sensor faults. Simulations show that the sensor faults are detected immediately after their occurrences and illustrate the proposed FTC strategy.

This article concerns a coupled LMIs approach to delay-dependent observer-based output feedback stabilizing controller design for linear continuous-time systems with multiple state delays. The advantage of our proposed delay-dependent coupled LMIs criterion lies in that: ( 1 ) it can optimize one of multiple time delays with others selected properly, and at the same time, the feedback-gain and observer-gain can be obtained, respectively. (2) it is less conservative than the existing delay-independent ones in the literature. Algorithm to solve the coupled LMIs is also given. Numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of our method.

The problem of multi-objective H2/H infinity optimal controller design is reviewed. A necessary condition is given to consummate the algorithm for the existence of a solution of the generalized non-symmetric and rectangular Riccatti equation. In view of the observer-based structure form of controller involving Youla parameter, the problem can be transformed into the tractable and practical LMI formulation of the multi-objective control problem through linearizing change of variables. In order to reduce the conservatism of the system, independent Lyapunov functions are used for each synthesis objective. Illustrative application to Benchmark problem is given to demonstrate the useful and practicality of the approach.
