This paper presents a clustering (Clustering partitions record into clusters such that records within a cluster are similar to each other, while records in different clusters are most distinct from one another.) based k-anonymization technique to minimize the information loss while at the same time assuring data quality. Privacy preservation of individuals has drawn considerable interests in data mining research. The k-anonymity model proposed by Samarati and Sweeney is a practical approach for data privacy preservation and has been studied extensively for the last few years. Anonymization methods via generalization or suppression are able to protect private information, but lose valued information. The challenge is how to minimize the information loss during the anonymization process. We refer to the challenge as a systematic clustering problem for k-anonymization which is analysed in this paper. The proposed technique adopts group-similar data together and then anonymizes each group individually. The structure of systematic clustering problem is defined and investigated through paradigm and properties. An algorithm of the proposed problem is developed and shown that the time complexity is in O(n(2)/k), where n is the total number of records containing individuals concerning their privacy. Experimental results show that our method attains a reasonable dominance with respect to both information loss and execution time. Finally the algorithm illustrates the usability for incremental datasets.

The article reports on efforts to use the microblogging site Twitter as a tool for sociological research. It states that individual messages sent over the site, known as tweets, may often be misspelled and inane, but collectively the data represented constitutes a potentially edifying snapshot of the public mood. Computer algorithms which analyze such social media data flows can track phenomena related to earthquakes, flu outbreaks and air quality. Topics such as slang, sample bias, and sentiment analysis are also discussed.

Customer interactions with an organization's website create opportunities for positive experiences that can lead to long-term relationship building. The range of potential interactions is now quite diverse, including product information search, purchase transaction and/or service delivery. The domain of customer experience (CE) is well developed in the face-to-face context, but little attention has been paid to exploring the concept in the online context. The purpose of this paper is to provide a review of the online consumer literature in order to inform understanding of the antecedents and consequences of online customer experience (OCE) in the purchase context. The paper offers four important contributions for both academics and practitioners. First, it adds to understanding of OCE in the purchase context and, second, specifically recognizes and discusses the antecedents of OCE by drawing on existing literature relating to online consumer purchase. Third, it proposes the potential consequences of OCE and provides a framework for future testing. Finally, the paper addresses a problem of relevance to both academics and practitioners, and proposes future research and managerial implications.

To study the Charmonium spectrum and search for narrow exotic hadronic states, predicted by Quantum Chromodynamics, the PANDA detector will be employed at the future Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research near Darmstadt in Germany. In the PANDA experiment, 1.5 to 15 GeV/c anti-protons will collide with a hydrogen target at average annihilation rates of 20 MHz. One of the most important sub-detectors of PANDA is the Electromagnetic Calorimeter (EMC) planned for the studies of electromagnetic transitions and neutral meson decays. Due to the high annihilation rates, the EMC will be exposed to single-detector hit rates up to 500 kHz, which may lead to pulse overlap. Hence, to recover the energy and time information of the overlapping pulses, the pulse pile-up recovery method is developed. The method is easy to implement in FPGA for online data processing. The Constant Fraction Timing method is applied at the trailing edge to recover the time stamp of pile-up pulses. The energy of pile-up pulses can be recovered up to time differences equal to the pulse rise-time.

Nuclear power plants are generally designed and inspected according to the ASME Code. This code indicates stress intensity (S(INT)) as the parameter to be used in the stress analysis of components. One of the particularities of S(INT) is that it always takes positive values, independently of the nature of the stress (tensile or compressive). This circumstance is relevant in the Fatigue Monitoring Systems used in nuclear power plants, due to the manner in which the different variable stresses are combined in order to obtain the final total stress range. This paper describes some situations derived from the application of the ASME Code, shows different ways of dealing with them and illustrates their influence on the evaluation of the fatigue usage factor through a case study. The article commends authors M. E. Keskin, ?.Terzi and E. U. Kü?üksille for presenting a study which investigated the data mining process to assess the values of daily pan evaporation for three lakes in Turkey which include E?girdir, Kovada and Karaca?ren Dam. The aims of the study include the development of pan evaporation models through the use of the data mining for the three lakes and the creation of an integrated evaporation model by the aggregation of the daily pan evaporation of the three lakes.

The authors comment on the questions raised regarding the data mining process that can be used for integrated evaporation model. They mention that the questions are of general type and are not related with the study under discussion. Several points to be considered include the well known specifications and topology of the artificial neural networks (ANN) and the fact that there is no need to give the coefficients of the multiple linear regression (MLR).

The sensitivity minimization of feedback system is solved based on the theory of Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation with degree constraint without using weighting functions. More details of the dynamic characteristic of second-order system investigated, which is determined by the location of spectral zeroes, the upper bound. of S, the length of the spectral radius and the additional interpolation constraints. And the guidelines on how to tune the design parameters are provided. Gyro stabilized pod as a typical tracking system is studied, which is based on the typical structure of two-axis and four-frame. The robust controller is designed based on Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation with degree constraint. When both friction of LuGre model and disturbance exist, the closed-loop system has stronger disturbance rejection ability and high tracking precision. Numerical examples illustrate the potential of the method in designing robust controllers with relatively low degrees.

The author offers his view regarding the practicality of Google Wave as an online tool for collaboration. According to him, the skill of collaboration is increasingly important in the academic world. Instances wherein everyone could not be brought together, especially in recurring meetings, makes electronic collaboration a more viable tool for conversations. He mentions there was a lot of excitement prior to the launch of Google Wave in May of 2009, and now that it is readily available, many could not explain what Google Wave is capable of doing. He also states that Google Wave proposes to make online and e-mail-like communication more effective by bringing in the real-time element and the capability to collaboratively edit, embed content and links, and upload files.
