The sticking behavior of iron ores in the shaft furnace is one of the most important problems in the COREX melting progress, which directly influence the smooth operation and productivity of shaft furnace. Therefore, it is of great importance to study the sticking behavior of pellets in COREX shaft furnace. The results showed that porous metallic iron produced at the interface of pellets samples was the main reason for the sticking of pellets in the COREX shaft furnace. The SI (sticking index) and metallization rate increased with the reduction temperature and gas flow, and decreased with melting rate. However, the SI of pellets in the COREX shaft furnace could be decreased by the proper match of melting rate and reduction temperature, reduction temperature and gas flow, while the metallization rate of pellets were kept at a certain level. Furthermore, the matching of melting rate and reduction temperature was more effective than the matching of reduction temperature and gas flow.

In this paper, visualization detection technology of supercharged boiler's combustion in furnace is been used to take photo of the flame in furnace, and calculate temperature images and radiant rate images corresponding to flame images, and get average temperature and average radiant rate value, and gain relationship between average temperature and average radiant rate value. Studies show that: according to image of flame in furnace taken in different working conditions, average temperature and average radiant rate value have the same change rule. Working condition of boiler is higher, fuel consumption and radiant temperature are higher, and average radiant rate is lower, and operation parameters such as fuel press, steam temperature and pressure difference of gas are higher, and vice versa.

Dry anaerobic co-digestion of animal manure and straw was conducted to produce biogas. Startup characteristics and biogas production perform of dry digestion were studied, and the effect of operation temperature and incubation amount on dry digestion was also investigated. The study result showed that under the conditions of C/N=25-30, TS=20% and T=(36 +/- 1)degrees C,dry digestion can start up quickly with acclimated thickening sludge as incubation sludge. Compared to dry digestion of chicken manure and pig manure, dry digestion of cow manure proceeded steadily with high biogas yield. It is found that incubation is necessary in the process of dry digestion and biogas yield increases with more incubation amount. The appreciate incubation ratio is about 10%. Temperature change has apparent effect on biogas production, and it is suggested that mesophilic temperature should be chosen in the scaled project of dry digestion.

The float glass melting tank is huge and complex equipment which the operation parameters are difficult to control in production line. The install of desulfurizer makes the kiln more complex and unstable. In present work, we fulfill the field experiments and obtained the optimal practical operation parameters. The obtained parameters were: aperture of wings gate: 75-85%;aperture of draft fan: 30-35% for draft fan 1, and draft fan 2 were through-type;aperture of conveying fan: 70-85%;temperature of gas into desulfurizer: 180-200 degrees C;the water flow were controlled by thermocouple and diaphragm control valve;Velocity of gas into desulfurizer: 8-10 m/s. Our results provide the guidance for installing the desulfurizer and modifying the whole system in practice.

To study the effect of the operation parameters on the de-NOx catalysts prepared by Erdos semi-cokes, the vapor content, O-2 content, reaction temperature, space velocity, the concentrations of NO and SO2 were investigated to find the optimum operating conditions. The addictives loaded on the catalysts could reduce the vapor's negative effect. The optimal reaction condition is vapor 4.2%, reaction temperature 70 degrees C space velocity 1000h(-1), O-2 10%, NO below 1000ppm. TB was 22h in the optimal condition when less than 70% conversion as the breakthrough point. Because of the suppression of NO oxidation by SO2, the desulfurization process had to place in front of the process of catalytic oxidation de-NOX.

In this paper, the operation parameters of a one-way spiral flow casting roller were simulated. Varies optimization proposals on the casting roller were brought out mainly focusing on the inlet and outlet cavities. Both the inlet pressure and drum rotational speed was found having direct influence on water delivery capacity. The water delivering capacity was increased when the inlet pressure was rising without varying the total pressure loss of the system. The water delivery capacity of the system was dropped after the initial growth with the increasing drum rotation speed. Study on operation parameters can provide technical guidance for the actual operation of casting roller. Additional guide vanes in the water inlet and outlet cavities were designed to improve the capacity of water delivery. The total pressure loss of optimized structure was reduced by 10%. The total water supply and pressure loss of the new designs were better than those of the current structure under the same conditions. Adding the vanes in outlet cavity was found having the most outstanding effect. In actual operation, the water supply pressure and the drum speed should be comprehensively determined to make the system more energy efficient

Electrochemical oxidation treatment of reverse osmosis concentrated landfill leachate: Effect of operation parameters and evolution of dissolved organic matter

Electrochemical oxidation (EO) is a viable option for the advanced treatment of reverse osmosis concentrated landfill leachate (ROCLL). This work characterized dissolved organic matter (DOM) in ROCLL with size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and then investigated the impact of operating parameters on the removal of DOM fractions with response surface methodology (RSM). The SEC chromatograms revealed that the DOM fractions in ROCLL comprised of biopolymers (BP, > 18 kDa), humic substances (HS, 0.45-18 kDa) and low molecular weight substances (LMWS, < 0.45 kDa). For the EO configuration with different anodes, the BDD film anode showed the highest removal efficiency for DOM in terms of COD, DOC, UVA254 and fluorescence indices, followed by Ti, graphite, Ti/RuO2-IrO2 and Ti/SnO2-Sb2O5 anodes. The RSM experiments suggested that pH was the most critical factor to enhance the removal of all DOM fractions, and acidification pretreatment could remove approximately 50% BP and 30% HS fractions due to the pH-induced precipitation. The DOC removal kinetics of DOM fractions could be described by pseudo-zero kinetic model with rates in the order of HS > LMWS > BP, which were controlled by charge transfer process. Differently, the elimination of chromophores and fluorophores followed pseudo-first kinetics, which was limited by mass transport process. Via nonnegativity matrix factorization (NMF) deconvolution of the SEC-OCD chromatograms, BP-C1, HS-C2 and LMWS-C1 subfractions required to be removed through further treatment after EO process. This work demonstrates the potential for SEC analysis coupled with mathematical approaches to give informative insights into the evolution of DOM and provide optimization strategies for the EO treatment of complex ROCLL.

The surface of cotton fibre was modified by atmospheric pressure plasma treatment (APPT), using gas as The carrier. Effects of variations in four operational parameters, discharge power, oxygen flow rate, jet-to-substrate distance and speed of The jet movement were examined. Morphology of surface of cotton fabrics was examined by generating Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images. Elementary composition of The surface of The fabric was examined by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy-Attenuated. Total Internal Reflectance (FTIR-ATR) was used for examining functionality of The surface. In this study, we revealed that The operational parameters would physical and chemically after The surface characteristics of The cotton fibre. Physically, cracks and grooves were noted in The cotton fibre surface after APPT. Chemically, The oxygen content in The cotton fibre surface was increased after APPT. When The O/C ratio is taken into consideration, The surface oxidation was a steady effect in applying APPT for treating cotton fibre in this study.

Multi-output prediction for TBM operation parameters based on stacking ensemble algorithm

Thrust and torque are two key operation parameters for tunnel boring machine (TBM), a rapid and accurate simultaneous prediction or determination of them is essential for TBM construction. In this study, based on the real dataset collected from the Chaoerhe River to Liaohe River project, a stacking algorithm framework is proposed for establishing a multi-output stacked prediction model for TBM thrust and torque. Such model is constructed by integrating the basic models including Random Forest (RF), XGBoost and CatBoost, Support Vector Regression (SVR), and Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network (MLPNN). Both Knowledge Driven and Data Driven approaches were employed to select feature parameters, and the importance of these parameters was analyzed in combination with the RF, XGBoost, and CatBoost algorithms. Meanwhile, the OPTUNA optimizer and Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithms III (NSGA-III) were used for hyperparameters optimization of models. The results indicate that the multi-output stacked prediction model outperforms the any of single basic models, with corresponding aCC, aRMSE and aRRMSE are 0.9524, 376.30 and 1.3260, respectively. Moreover, the method of multi-output prediction has about 5.8 times efficiency higher than the single-output prediction. The proposed framework provides an efficient, accurate, and promising method for the simultaneous prediction of multiple operation parameters of TBM.

Prediction of TBM operation parameters using machine learning models based on BPSO

Rational parameters of TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) are the key to ensuring efficient and safe tunnel construction. Machine learning (ML) has become the main method for predicting operating parameters. Grid Search and optimization algorithms, such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), are often used to find the hyper parameters of ML models but suffer from excessive time and low accuracy. In order to efficiently construct ML models and enhance the accuracy of predicting models, a BPSO (Beetle antennae search Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm is proposed. Based on the PSO algorithm, the concept of BAS (Beetle Antennae Search) is integrated into the updating process of an individual particle, which improves the random search capability. The convergence of the BPSO algorithm is discussed in terms of inhomogeneous recursive equations and characteristic roots. Then, based on the proposed BPSO prototype, a hybrid ML model BPSO-XGBoost (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) is proposed. We applied the model to the Hangzhou Central Park tunnel project for the prediction of screw conveyer rotational speed. Finally, our model is compared with existing methods. The experimental results show that the BPSO-based model outperforms other traditional ML methods. The BPSOXGBoost is more accurate than PSO-XGBoost and BPSO-RandomForest for predicting the speed. Also, it is verified that the hyper parameters optimized by the BPSO are better than those optimized by the original PSO. The comprehensive prediction performance ranking of models is as follows: BPSO-XGBoost > PSO-XGBoost > BPSO-RF > PSO-RF. Our models have preferable engineering application value.
