In this study, Vehicle to grid (V2G) application is considered as an important solution to minimize the CO2 emission, as well as its ability to involve the utilization of renewable energy and recovers the limitation of fossil energy. In this context, the plug in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) have attracted the attention of researchers and industries due to its various advantages especially it's utilization as a good interface on the V2G application all over the world. This paper includes an introduction of various vehicle architecture and the formulation of total cost of ownership (TCO) presented during the owning period of the vehicle. We are also interested on the different approaches and algorithms used for optimal design of PHEV in literature to optimize the TCO.

Aiming at the maximum power point tracking for wind turbine, a sensorless intelligent second-order integral sliding mode control based on wind speed estimation is proposed in this article. The maximum wind energy capture is realized by controlling permanent magnet synchronous motor to adjust the speed of wind turbine. First, an intelligent second-order integral sliding mode control is designed for the speed loop and current loop control, which has fast convergence speed, strong robustness and can effectively reduce chattering. Second, a novel cascade observer based on direct sliding mode observer and extended high-gain observer is used to estimate the rotor speed and position. Besides, combined radial basis function neural network is used to estimate the valid value of wind speed. Both simulation and experiment are implemented, which verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy under the condition of considering both model uncertainty and external disturbance.

The highest cost item in the operation of water distribution systems is the energy cost used for pumping. With regard to Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity tariffs and urban water demand, the optimization of the pumping schedule of the stations in the water distribution systems can be modeled mathematically. In this study, a new algorithm (SDPA- simplified dynamic programming algorithm) was used to solve the pumping schedule optimization problem in order to reduce the pumping energy cost. By shifting the energy demand during the on-peak period to the off-peak period, SDPA was applied to a pumping station belonging to a water distribution system in Sakarya province, a 12% saving on the cost of energy was realized. In comparison to the IDPA (Improved dynamic programming algorithm), and CWLC (conventional water level control) approach, the simulation results showed that SDPA can achieve more savings in energy cost generated. In addition, SDPA managed to keep the count of pump on-off decisions quite small by preventing the problem of increasing pump operating frequency while the decision period getting very smaller than the decision period in IDPA approach. Therefore, we can conclude that using SDPA to reconfigure the pumping schedule without any additional investment in the pumping stations of water distribution systems, can achieve significant energy savings.

As the share of wind power participating in the electricity market grows, it is becoming increasingly important to control energy storage systems in order to increase the profitability of wind farms. This paper presents a flexible control model of energy storage system that may be utilized to assist wind farms in controlling energy storage system efficiently in real time, hence improving wind farm controllability and economic benefits. Based on the rolling forecast of ultra-short-term power and real-time electricity prices, the model in this paper can adjust the control strategy of the energy storage system in real time according to actual application scenarios, so as to help wind farms avoid deviation recovery losses and obtain excess profits as much as possible. To begin, a constrained optimization model of an energy storage system is established with the maximization of income generated by energy storage system as the objective function. Then, the CPLEX solver is used to solve the constrained optimization problem. Finally, data from a wind farm in Shanxi Province is used to verify the model proposed in this paper, and the result indicates the reliability and effectiveness of the model.

An algorithm to calculate optimal trajectories of e-buses to fulfil on-demand requests for transportation in a smart city environment is presented. Instead of solving the transportation problem once when all transportation requests are registered, we solve the transportation problem at any virtual or public station during the taxi. This approach enables gathering transportation requests dynamically and also consider changes in the environment (e.g. weather conditions, roadblocks, traffic jams, etc) during the transportation. The algorithm is tested with real data. Some results of the simulation are presented. Copyright (C) 2022 The Authors.

Optimal Design of Elliptical Beam Cassegrain Antenna

An optimal design method of elliptical beam Cassegrain antenna based on differential evolution with global and local neighborhoods algorithm is proposed to achieve high efficiency, low sidelobe, and low profile at Ku/Ka dual band. A rapid shaping method of elliptical beam antenna is given by applying the algorithm of steepest descent. Constraining of the first sidelobe level, antenna efficiency is optimized with only 17 variables, where aperture field distribution functions in the major and minor axis planes are parameterized by Non-uniform rational B-spline curves, and the transition function is expressed with a sinusoidal function. A prototype of optimized antenna with an aperture of 630 mm x 1150 mm is fabricated and measured. The measured results show that the total efficiency is greater than 54.5%, and the first sidelobe levels are lower than across the Ku/Ka dual-band, which agree well with simulated ones. It is verified that the optimal design method is very effective.

A High-Accuracy Advanced Persistent Threat Detection Model: Integrating Convolutional Neural Networks with Kepler-Optimized Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Units

Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) refers to a highly targeted, sophisticated, and prolonged form of cyberattack, typically directed at specific organizations or individuals. The primary objective of such attacks is the theft of sensitive information or the disruption of critical operations. APT attacks are characterized by their stealth and complexity, often resulting in significant economic losses. Furthermore, these attacks may lead to intelligence breaches, operational interruptions, and even jeopardize national security and political stability. Given the covert nature and extended durations of APT attacks, current detection solutions encounter challenges such as high detection difficulty and insufficient accuracy. To address these limitations, this paper proposes an innovative high-accuracy APT attack detection model, CNN-KOA-BiGRU, which integrates Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Units (BiGRU), and the Kepler optimization algorithm (KOA). The model first utilizes CNN to extract spatial features from network traffic data, followed by the application of BiGRU to capture temporal dependencies and long-term memory, thereby forming comprehensive temporal features. Simultaneously, the Kepler optimization algorithm is employed to optimize the BiGRU network structure, achieving globally optimal feature weights and enhancing detection accuracy. Additionally, this study employs a combination of sampling techniques, including Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) and Tomek links, to mitigate classification bias caused by dataset imbalance. Evaluation results on the CSE-CIC-IDS2018 experimental dataset demonstrate that the CNN-KOA-BiGRU model achieves superior performance in detecting APT attacks, with an average accuracy of 98.68%. The pre-conceptual design phase of the EU DEMO magnet system relies on mechanical, electromagnetic and thermal-hydraulic analyses of different conductor designs for the Toroidal Field (TF) coils, the Poloidal Field (PF) coils and the Central Solenoid (CS) magnet. The cryo-magnetic system includes the superconducting magnets cooled by forced flow of supercritical helium at about 4.5 K, the cryo-distribution lines and valve boxes, and the cryogenic system with several cold boxes. The present analysis focuses on the cooling requirement of the TF coils with three winding pack options for the cable in conduit conductors based on 2015 DEMO baseline, featuring pancake or layer winding approaches. This analysis methodology would be further developed with the latest conductor designs and more complete heat load assumptions for the future conductor design studies and the specification of the cooling requirements. Parametric studies on the cold source temperature and on the supercritical helium mass flow rate have been performed on the three conductor designs in order to identify for each one the impact of the cooling conditions onto the temperature margin with respect to the current sharing temperature. In this study, the heat load contribution have been limited to the estimation of the neutron heating and some joint resistance heat loads when available. In addition, Simcryogenics, a dynamic modelling tool developed by CEA, is used to model supercritical helium loops for cooling different conductor designs. An algorithm has been developed to optimize both the cold source temperature and the supercritical helium mass flow, in order to minimize refrigeration power for each conductor design. optimization studies are analyzed and compared in order to estimate for each TF winding pack design, the impact on refrigeration power. Design optimization of linear arrays and time-modulated antenna arrays using meta-heuristics approach

This article presents an approach to design a non-uniformly excited linear array antenna (LAA) and an alternate solution to LAAs in the form of time-modulated linear arrays (TMLA) for optimum far-field radiation pattern synthesis. The performance analysis of both the antenna arrays is studied, and the advantages and limitations of the proposed design approaches are presented with numerical outcomes. The far-field radiation pattern is optimized to reduce the interference by simultaneously lowering the sidelobe levels and increasing the directivities of LAAs and TMLAs. A recently proposed meta-heuristics computation technique called whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is employed to get the optimal results. The current excitation amplitude and the inter-element spacing of the 16-element LAA are optimized with WOA to attain the desired results. However, due to the large dynamic range ratios (DRRs) of excitation weights, array feed network complexities are increased, which restricts the design of typical LAAs. TMLAs can be regarded as an alternative solution where the problem of large DRRs as well as the design complexities of LAAs are eliminated. The concept of 'time' is vital in time-modulation as it plays the role of an added degree of freedom realized by periodically turning ON and OFF the radio-frequency switches with an electronic control circuit to achieve an enhanced array radiation pattern. WOA is utilized to determine the optimal switch-ON time periods for each array element and the optimal inter-element spacing of a 16-element TMLA. A set of numerical results validates the advantages of TMLAs over LAAs, and the limitations of TMLAs with respect to LAAs are also indicated. The performance of both the arrays is then compared with other published literature results to establish the superiority of the proposed approach.

The advent of the digital age and the internet has recently seen a corresponding increase in security concerns. Intrusion detection systems are one of the crucial factors to consider in today's digital world. This paper proposes a metaheuristic algorithm based on quantum differential evolution with multiple strategies. This algorithm proposes a new differential mutation strategy approach to improve the search capability and convergence speed. Then, a quantum rotation gate is used to perform the secondary evolution of the population. Finally, various benchmark functions are chosen to demonstrate the optimization ability of the algorithm. The experimental results show that the model outperforms differential evolution and quantum differential evolution. And has better optimization capability, efficiency and stability. This evolutionary technique plays an important role in identifying network intrusions and security attacks.
