Backflow Power optimization control for Dual Active Bridge DC-DC Converters

This paper proposes optimized control methods for global minimum backflow power based on a triple-phase-shift (TPS) control strategy. Three global optimized methods are derived to minimize the backflow power on the primary side, on the secondary side and on both sides, respectively. Backflow power transmission is just a portion of non-active power transmission in a dual active bridge (DAB) converter. Non-active power transmission time is proposed in this paper, which unifies zero power transmission and backflow power transmission. Based on the proposed index, an optimized control method is derived to achieve both the maximum effective power transmission time and minimum current stress of DAB at the same time. A comparative analysis is performed to show the limitations of the minimum backflow power optimization method. Finally, a prototype is built to verify the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis and the proposed control methods by experimental results.

In this paper, we use the control Lyapunov function (CLF) technique to present an optimized visual servo control method for constrained eye-in-hand robot visual servoing systems. With the knowledge of camera intrinsic parameters and depth of target changes, visual servo control laws (i.e. translation speed) with adjustable parameters are derived by image point features and some known CLF of the visual servoing system. The Fibonacci method is employed to online compute the optimal value of those adjustable parameters, which yields an optimized control law to satisfy constraints of the visual servoing system. The Lyapunov's theorem and the properties of CLF are used to establish stability of the constrained visual servoing system in the closed-loop with the optimized control law. One merit of the presented method is that there is no requirement of online calculating the pseudo-inverse of the image Jacobian's matrix and the homography matrix. As a core component of the flywheel energy storage system (FESS), the electrical motor drives the flywheel rotor to accelerate during the charging status and to decelerate during the discharging status. Generally, the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) or the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) is chosen as the electrical motor of the FESS due to its high power factor and low heat production of the rotor. However, both the PMSM and the BLDCM have high standby loss including eddy-current loss and magnetic hysteresis loss, which undermines the system's efficiency. By contrast, the synchronous motor (SynM) has the adjustable rotor flux and is capable of mitigating the standby loss by decreasing its excitation current during the idle time. Therefore, the SynM is more efficient in the application of the FESS. In large-capacity highspeed applications of the FESS, an effective control strategy is required to exploit its power capacity sufficiently. In this paper, the traditional vector control strategy is theoretically proven to be inappropriate, and an optimization control strategy based on flux weakening is proposed to implement the high power and the fast dynamic response. The proposal is verified by simulations.

optimization control for the far-distance rapid cooperative rendezvous of spacecraft with different masses

In this study, the dynamics equation of orbital elements without singularities is used to describe the far-distance cooperative rendezvous of two spacecraft with different masses. The convergent costate vector is obtained using the particle swarm optimization with differential evolution (PSODE) hybrid algorithm to optimize the far-distance cooperative rendezvous process of the spacecraft. This vector is then used as the initial value for a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm to again optimize within a small range to obtain a convergent, stable solution. This study focuses on optimizing the control of the far-distance rapid cooperative rendezvous of spacecraft with different masses and explores the interactions between the magnitude of the thrust, the duration of the rendezvous, and the fuel consumption. optimization simulation results indicate that when the rendezvous duration is limited to within a certain interval, the optimal process for the rendezvous of spacecraft with different masses is a cooperative manoeuvring type, and an increase in thrust will significantly save fuel. In the case of unrestricted rendezvous duration, as the thrust increases, the rendezvous time decreases, but there is little change in the total fuel consumption. (C) 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS. Enhancing ventilation efficiency is essential for the sustainable operation of large airport terminals, which typically consume significantly more energy than regular public buildings. However, fluctuating passenger distributions in space and time-driven by flight schedules and airport services-pose significant challenges to ventilation control, often resulting in unnecessary energy use and suboptimal indoor air quality (IAQ) management. To address this, our study proposes an innovative optimization framework to automate coordinated multi-zone ventilation control in large airport terminals using an agent-based passenger flow simulation model. Based on flight schedules, passenger flow within the terminal was simulated through pedestrian agents governed by the Social Force Model, enabling the accurate characterization of spatiotemporal passenger distribution and activities across different zones. This simulation was integrated with a physical ventilation model and a distributed evolutionary algorithm to achieve optimal IAQ management, energy efficiency, and flexibility in energy use. Over a two-month evaluation period, the optimized control framework demonstrated marked improvements over baseline fixed-schedule control, with the COQ compliance rate rising from 89.32 % to 99.6 %, total energy consumption reduced by 29.6 %, and daily peak power demand decreased by 27.2 %. This study showcases a practical, occupant-centric approach to improving operational sustainability in complex built environments.

Data-Driven optimization control for Safety Operation of Hematite Grinding Process

Grinding particle size (GPS) of a hematite grinding process (HGP) is characteristic of sensitivity to disturbances of ore hardness and size distribution, difficulty in establishing a mathematic model, and absence of measurement, which make the existing operational optimization and control approaches difficult to be applied. This leads to that it is always difficult to obtain a proper ore feed rate and water flow rate during process operation, and consequently, overload fault often occurs. To tackle this problem, based on characteristic analysis of GPS, a GPS prediction algorithm is first developed using an improved neural network (NN), and a data-driven optimization control approach for safety operation of HGP is proposed. The proposed method adopts a two-layer structure, the higher-level operational feedback control, and lower-level basic loop control. The operational feedback control consists of a cascade NN-based loop setpoint optimizer and an overload diagnosis and self-healing controller. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it requires only the available operating data, without knowing the process dynamics. Experiments have been carried out in a self-developed hardware-in-theloop experiment system with actual data, demonstrating that the proposed method cannot only keep the HGP operation from mill overload fault but also achieve the optimization control with respect to the quadratic performance index of GPS deviation.

This work presents an optimization-based variable impedance control strategy for controlling a robotic manipulator in medical contact tasks. Specifically, the optimal robot stiffness for performing the medical contact task is obtained using online Quadratic programming (QP). In the meantime, an energy tank approach is incorporated into the control loop to regulate the system's passivity. To verify the performance of the proposed strategy, experiments are conducted on both "static" and "scanning" medical contact tasks, utilizing materials with different properties, different magnitudes of contact forces, as well as uneven conditions with a human torso phantom model and slope surface. The maximum Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of force tracking with the proposed method in the "static" and "scanning" tasks, across all setups, is 0.88 and 0.5 N, respectively. The experiment results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control strategy compared with traditional manual contact and constant stiffness (CS) impedance control-based ones. The proposed control framework is promising to be integrated into robot-assisted medical contact tasks, for example, the palpation and Ultrasound (US) imaging scenarios.

The developed work in this paper focuses on the optimal integration of rechargeable electric vehicles into the smart grid. Indeed, an optimization control is proposed to improve the dynamics and the response of these vehicles by adjusting all the parameters of their regulators during participation in the both concepts: vehicles to grid and grid to vehicles. The suggested approach is performed using the Online multi-objective Particle-Swarm-optimization (PSO) algorithm. Simulation results obtained by "Matlab Simulink" will be presented to show the feasibility of this studied approach.

For smoothing Wind-PV-Energy storage system output power fluctuation problem, this paper proposed Wind-PV-Energy storage coordinated control method based on variable weight self-adaption filter, considering the Wind-PV system volatility constraint conditions and the energy storage system SOC. With index of the SOC balance of energy storage system and power grid volatility as constraint condition real-time adjusting weights and filter bandwidth of weighted filtering algorithm. With the volatility constrain condition, it used energy storage coordinating the balance between Wind-PV system and grid, reduced the energy storage output frequency and the using time, extended the service life of the energy storage system, improved the economic benefit of Wind-PV-Energy storage joint generation systems.
