Multimedia services are among the most developed segments of services. User behavior is changing with a significant number being very active. They utilize services that produce large amounts of data traffic in uplinks. Consequently, this is quite a new phenomenon that service providers should consider. The Quality of Service (QoS) of real-time multimedia services is crucial for all users, and research has been devoted to satisfying these requirements. Although fulfilling the QoS requirements is challenging, most of the research has focused on the downlink. The goal of this study was to focus on uplinks because this direction is crucial to modern attractive multimedia services such as streaming of videos and video gaming. This study proposed a solution that prioritizes traffic at the end of the user terminal and fixes the issue with real-time multimedia services. This effectively eliminates the first bottleneck in the entire system, regardless of the access network. The investigated solution is independent of the type of access network because it is implemented at the user terminal.

Milling is one of the most important cutting processes in the manufacturing industry. Accordingly, optimization measures in this area have a great influence on the efficiency in modern production systems, which in many cases is composed of entire machine parks consisting of milling machines. Tool wear on milling machines reduces tool life and causes quality features of manufactured products to drift out of the target range. Currently, this is associated with a high effort to detect and control occurring deviations. In the following, an approach will be presented in which the design of an automated quality control loop for milling processes based on the geometric detection of the manufactured components is developed. The subject is formulated as a mathematical optimization problem, which is solved using evolutionary algorithms.

Designing Low-Thrust Transfers to High-Inclination Science Orbits via Hybrid optimization

Placing a small satellite into a high-inclination orbit with respect to the ecliptic plane may offer a low-cost option for opportunistic and targeted observations of the polar regions of the Sun or the zodiacal dust cloud of the solar system. In this paper, dynamical systems theory and hybrid optimization techniques are integrated into a cohesive framework to design low-thrust trajectories for a small satellite to reach a highly out-of-ecliptic science orbit near the Sun-Earth L-2 equilibrium point. Propellant-optimal low-thrust trajectories with a specific geometry are designed and studied across a variety of engine and power models within a low-thrust-enabled circular restricted three-body problem. The geometry of the trajectories is then varied during the initial guess construction process to support a preliminary study of the tradeoff between flight time and propellant mass usage.

Research on the parameter identification of PV module based on fuzzy adaptive differential evolution algorithm

The rapid and accurate acquisition of model parameters of photovoltaic (PV) modules is of great significance for the efficient operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants under the background of the development of new power systems. To solve the problems of poor accuracy and slow velocity of identification of traditional PV modules model parameters, this paper proposed an identification of parameter method based on fuzzy adaptive differential evolution algorithm (FADE). In the proposed method, based on the I-V output characteristics of PV modules, a DE/current-to-SP-best/1 variation strategy is constructed to increase the local search capability of module model parameter identification;In addition, fuzzy selection strategy and an adaptive parameter adjustment strategy are introduced to effectively control the crossover probability and mutation factors to avoid the discrimi-nation into local optimum while improving the convergence of the algorithm. The performance of the proposed method has been verified by extracting classical polycrystalline and monocrystalline modules parameters, The solution results of the polycrystalline module Photowatt-PWP201 (2.42507E-3), STP6-120/36 (1.66006E-2) and monocrystalline module STM6-40/36 (1.72981E-3) comprehensively show that FADE has better accuracy and robustness compared with other algorithms.(c) 2022 The Author(s). Finding the suitable solution to optimization problems is a fundamental challenge in various *** algorithms are one of the effective stochastic methods in solving optimization *** this paper,a new stochastic optimization algorithm called Search StepAdjustment Based algorithm(SSABA)is presented to provide quasi-optimal solutions to various optimization *** the initial iterations of the algorithm,the step index is set to the highest value for a comprehensive search of the search ***,with increasing repetitions in order to focus the search of the algorithm in achieving the optimal solution closer to the global optimal,the step index is reduced to reach the minimum value at the end of the algorithm *** is mathematically modeled and its performance in optimization is evaluated on twenty-three different standard objective functions of unimodal and multimodal *** results of optimization of unimodal functions show that the proposed algorithm SSABA has high exploitation power and the results of optimization of multimodal functions show the appropriate exploration power of the proposed *** addition,the performance of the proposed SSABA is compared with the performance of eight well-known algorithms,including Particle Swarm optimization(PSO),Genetic algorithm(GA),Teaching-Learning Based optimization(TLBO),Gravitational Search algorithm(GSA),Grey Wolf optimization(GWO),Whale optimization algorithm(WOA),Marine Predators algorithm(MPA),and Tunicate Swarm algorithm(TSA).The simulation results show that the proposed SSABA is better and more competitive than the eight compared algorithms with better performance.

At present, the limited existence of fossil fuels and the environmental issues over greenhouse gas emissions have been directly affected to the transition from conventional vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). In fact, the electrification of transportation system and the growing demand of EVs have prompted recent researchers to investigate the optimal location of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs). However, there are numerous challenges would face when implementing EVs at large scale. For instance, underdeveloped EVCSs infrastructure, optimal EVCS locations, and charge scheduling in EVCSs. In addition, the most fundamental EV questions, such as EV cost and range, could be partly answered only by a well-developed EVCS infrastructure. According to the literature, the researchers have been followed different types of approaches, objective functions, constraints for problem formulation. Moreover, according to the approaches, objective functions, constraints, EV load modeling, uncertainty, vehicle to grid strategy, integration of distributed generation, charging types, optimization techniques, and sensitivity analysis are reviewed for the recent research articles. Furthermore, optimization techniques for optimal solution are also reviewed in this article. In addition, the EV load impact on the distribution network, environmental impacts and economic impact are discussed.

Optimal design of SSSC and crowbar parameters for performance enhancement of Egyptian Zafrana wind farm

Zafarana Wind Park is considered the largest wind farm in Middle East. By the year 2022, Zafarana wind farm will inject 545 MW to Egypt national electric network (ENEN). This wind farm has been connecting to ENEN in stages (eight stages) from ten years ago. Each stage represents a project of wind farm. Hence, the impact of the emergency condition of ENEN on the performance of the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park should be studied. Moreover, determining the possible method to reduce the side effects of the emergency condition of ENEN on the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park becomes an important issue. In this paper, a combination between Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) and crowbar (Cro-SSSC) is used to enhance the performance of the one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park. The studied stage of Zafarana Wind Park is Zafarana Z1 wind farm (Z1). Zafarana Z1 wind farm represents that first stage of Zafarana Wind Park that was connected to ENEN. Hence, the paper takes Zafarana Z1 wind farm as the studied case to examine the impact of Cro-SSSC. The crowbar is used to protect the power components of the SSSC from the high current during grid fault condition. Also, in this paper multi-objective lightning attachment procedure optimization algorithm (LAPO) and the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) are used to evaluate and tune the control gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar's resistance. This step is important in order to determine the values of the control's gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar resistance which suit the studied system (one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park). The sliding mode control (SMC) is used as an example of nonlinear control of SSSC. Also, a hybrid of LAPO and SMC is used to improve the performance of Zafarana Z1 during faults. The results of LAPO, SCA and SMC are compared during three-phase fault and single line to ground fault applied to the studied system.

A robust tuned classifier-based distributed denial of service attacks detection for quality of service enhancement in software-defined network

In today's world, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) plays a significant role in the advancement of next-generation network architecture that offers vast control to the network operators. However, the control layer is vulnerable to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks where DDoS is one of the most powerful and devastating cyber-attacks. Thus, the development of a DDoS attack detection mechanism is very essential since these kinds of attacks have a direct impact on the overall performance of the SDN. In this paper, a new robust Tuned support vector machine-based DDoS attack detection methodology has been proposed to categorize the benign traffic from DDoS attack traffic on the SDN. Primarily, the network is created with controller and OpenFlow switch and the communication can be carried out through secure channels among different benign users and also attackers. Afterward, the multi-characteristic values are extracted by the effective extraction strategy which consists of the six-tuple characteristic values matrix. Finally, the tuned classifier has been implemented with the aid of optimization algorithm for differentiating the abnormal traffic and the normal traffic. The performance results manifest that the proposed detection framework achieves a higher accuracy of 98% and precision of 99% when compared with existing classifiers.

Cost-Effective Edge Server Network Design in Mobile Edge Computing Environment

Mobile edge computing (MEC) deploys edge servers at the base station in the proximity of users to provide cloud computing-like computing and storage functionalities, which can achieve applications' low latency requirement at the network edge. The edge server network (ESN), constituted by edge servers in an area and the links between them, can host app vendors' services for serving nearby users. Many existing studies have demonstrated that a high ESN density allows for high service performance because edge servers can communicate and share resources with each other effectively over the ESN. However, in the real-world MEC environment, constructing a high-density ESN may incur high construction costs. The trade-off between construction cost and network density plays a vital role in the design of an ESN. Unfortunately, existing studies of MEC have commonly and simply assumed the densities of the ESNs in their experiments. In this paper, we make the first attempt to study the design of cost-effective ESNs with the aim to trade off between the network construction cost and the network density. We model this novel Edge Server Network Design (ESND) problem as a constrained optimization problem and prove its $\mathcal {NP}$NP-hardness. ESND-O as an optimal approach is proposed based on integer programming to solve small-scale ESND problems. Another approximation approach named ESND-A is designed to solve large-scale ESND problems efficiently. We conduct extensive experiments to test the performance of ESND-O and ESND-A on a real-world dataset, and the experimental results demonstrate their effectiveness and efficiency against four representative approaches.

Equilibrium Optimizer (EO) is a novel meta-heuristic algorithm proposed in 2020 and it has a unique search mechanism and good optimization performance. To further improve its optimization performance, this paper proposes an Information-utilization Strengthened EO (IS-EO). Firstly, a cross EO (CEO) is constructed under the guidance of the historical individual-best information to strengthen information guiding. Secondly, a Global-best opposition learning CEO (GCEO) is created under the guidance of the global best information to a random individual to further strengthen information guiding. Finally, a differential mutation strategy is incorporated into GCEO to construct IS-EO and strengthen information sharing between individuals. Experimental results on the 65 benchmark functions and the 3 engineering design problems show that IS-EO attains stronger search ability and faster running speed compared with EO and other state-of-the-art comparison algorithms and can solve the engineering problems more effectively.
