optimization analysis of a heaving point absorber wave energy converter in wave focusing conditions near a parabolic vertical wall

optimization analysis was conducted to maximize the power generation of a cylindrical heaving point-absorber wave energy converter (HPA-WEC) positioned in front of a bottom-mounted parabolic vertical wall, using the wave energy focusing effect. Hydrodynamic analyses were performed using a three-dimensional linear frequency-domain boundary element method (FD-BEM) developed and validated independently in previous studies. The FD-BEM was integrated into an automated optimization framework with metaheuristic algorithms. The optimization analysis assumed regular waves propagating perpendicular to the wall and considered four design variables: the position of the parabolic wall vertex, the distance between the WEC and the wall vertex, the draft of the WEC, and the power take-off damping coefficient. Various metaheuristic algorithms were used to calculate the maximum power generation of the HPA-WEC and compare the performance of each algorithm. The optimization results showed that the parabolic wall significantly improved power generation compared to a straight wall, with power increases of 34 %, 112 %, and 208 % at widths of the parabolic wall of 10 m, 20 m, and 40 m, respectively. Maximum power was achieved when the WEC was positioned near the vertex of the parabolic wall or approximately half a wavelength away. Influenced by wave interactions, the center of the WEC is located near but slightly outside the focal point of the parabolic wall. optimization results indicate that positioning near the focal point significantly enhances power generation efficiency, emphasizing the importance of the shape of the parabolic wall and the strategic placement of the WEC.

Parameter optimization analysis on the multi-dimensional earthquake isolation and mitigation device (MEIMD) installed in reticulated structures is carried out in this study. First, optimization parameters and constrain conditions are determined in accordance with the characteristics of MEIMD, and an object function is derived from the energy equation. Then, the genetic algorithm is used to realize parameter optimization of the MEIMD added in a cylindrical reticulated shell. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed optimization method, dynamic responses of structures without devices, with devices possessing random and optimal parameters are compared, and the sensitivity to the earthquake excitations of the optimization method is studied. It can be concluded that dynamic responses of the structure decrease obviously when adding the MEIMD, and a better seismic reduction effect can be reached when the MEIMD is designed optimally in accordance with the optimization method, and different earthquake excitations have slight influence on the optimization results.

optimization analysis of linear compressor using R290 for capacity-modulation performance improvement

The capacity-modulation performance of a linear compressor is greatly affected by the relationship between input parameters and control parameters owing to the free-piston structure. This study investigates the capacity-modulation characteristic theoretically and proposes an optimization method of the linear compressor for better performance. Suitable configurations for capacity-modulation are obtained based on the judging criteria of adjusting-range of required voltages and the relationship between supply voltages and output powers. The results show that piston diameter has a significant impact on capacity modulation performance. The parameter combinations of initial clearance and spring stiffness under different piston diameters are divided into different zones, and zones for suitable configurations show similar shapes. A prototype using R290 is developed according to the optimization results and tested under the rated condition. The experimental results show great agreement with the analytical results, and the prototype shows excellent cooling and capacity-modulation performance with the cooling capacity ranging from 583.8 W to 1628.6 W, which demonstrates the accuracy and reliability of the optimization method. The maximum coefficient of performance is up to 4.25 under the condition of the evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, super-heating degree, and sub-cooling degree of 2.7 degrees C, 42.3 degrees C, 10.0 degrees C, and 4.0 degrees C, respectively. optimization analysis of the intentional mistuning mode of the blisk with piezoelectric shunt damping patches

Vibration problems of mistuned blisks have been extensively investigated in the past several years. To suppress the vibration level of the mistuned blisk, the blisk structure is equipped with piezoelectric shunt damping. At the same time, the performance of the piezoelectric shunt damping can be enhanced through optimization. By optimizing the mistuning modes of resistance and inductance parameters, it can be applied to the blisk structure to obtain a better damping effect. The present study aims to effectively apply the optimization of the piezoelectric shunt damping patches (PSDPs) intentional mistuning mode to the blisk. To achieve this, a semi-analytical model of the mistuned blisk structure with intentional mistuning PSDPs is firstly created for purpose of optimization analysis. Then, based on the deterministic mistuning blisk, an optimization model is established with the objective of minimizing the amplitude amplification factor of the mistuned blisk. The model considered the resistance parameters and the inductance parameters in the shunt circuits as design variables. Taking the mistuned blisk with intentional mistuning PSDPs as an example, it is confirmed that piezoelectric shunt damping effectively suppresses the vibration response of mistuned blisks. Additionally, the correctness of the semi-analytical model used is verified. The multi-population genetic algorithm (MPGA) is used to optimize the intentional mistuning mode of piezoelectric shunt circuits. The results show that the optimized mistuning modes of shunt circuits have a better vibration suppression effect by comparing with tuned circuits and several common circuit mistuning modes, which demonstrates the feasibility and rationality of the optimization model.

When a moving subway train catches fire in tunnels, high-temperature smoke spreads rapidly, posing a threat to the personnel evacuation process. Rational design parameters for evacuation facilities can mitigate the impact of high-temperature smoke on personnel evacuation. This study utilizes both the N -S equation and the fully buoyant corrected Renormalization-group (RNG) k - epsilon turbulence model to build a smoke spread model. Additionally, the study employs twodimensional cellular automata to develop a personnel evacuation model in interval tunnels. Then determining the smoke spread and the influence of evacuation facility parameters on personnel evacuations. Furthermore, optimization algorithms are employed to optimize evacuation facility parameters. The results can be summarized as follows: (1) High-temperature smoke spreads to the downstream area after the train stops due to piston wind, severely limiting personnel evacuation. The efficiency of the downstream evacuation process determines overall efficiency of the evacuation process. (2) The width of evacuation walkways and the spacing of connecting bypasses significantly influence the total evacuation time, while the impact of the evacuation safety door width is minimal. (3) The spacing of connecting bypasses and the width of evacuation safety doors significantly influence evacuation exit congestion time, while the impact of evacuation walkway widths is small. (4) Evacuation facility parameters were optimized to minimize both the total evacuation time and exit congestion time. The Pareto frontier was analyzed, and optimization results were obtained. (5) After optimization, total evacuation time decreased by 72 %, and congestion time decreased by 85 %.

optimization analysis of the riser top tension force in deepwater drilling: Aiming at the minimum variance of lower flexible joint deflection angle

This paper presents an analysis approach optimizing the top tension force of deepwater drilling riser when the variance of the lower flexible joint deflection angle to the minimum value. The riser is modeled as an Euler-Bernoulli beam subjected to non-uniform axial force and transverse random force. In this paper, the riser transverse vibration behavior is described by transfer matrix method and spectrum analysis, and the distribution inertial force is calculated by the cubic Hermite interpolation polynomial. Finally, the variance of lower flexible joint deflection angle is given, and the minimum variance and the optimal top tension are figured out accordingly. Based on this, the influences of water depth, floating vessel top displacement, riser wall thickness and structure damping coefficient on the optimal top tension are discussed. analysis results show that, for a given status, there is an optimal top tension making the deflection angle variance be minimum, and the optimal top tension increase with water depth, floating vessel top displacement and riser wall thickness. While the minimum value of the variance increase with water depth and the floating vessel top displacement, and decrease with riser wall thickness. However, the structure damping coefficient has almost no influence on the optimal top tension. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

optimization analysis of Initial Sheet Metal Contour Line for High-Strength Boron Steel in Hot Stamping

Based on the principle of hot stamping, a simulation model of hot stamping is proposed. The blank contour line of U-shaped part is optimized by using a multiple iterative algorithm. By comparison of the simulated and experimental data, the multiple iterative optimization algorithm is verified. Moreover, the blank contour lines of a bumper and the B-pillar of Numisheet 2008 were optimized. The results obtained indicate that the multiple iterative method for optimizing the initial blank contour line has high calculating speed and accuracy. The hot stamping part contour lines match the ideal part contour lines quite well.

In an Accelerator Driven System (ADS), the spallation target typically has a power of several megawatts or above. As high-power targets are challenging to design, the targets studied in the past generally had a power of 2 MW or less. For the China initiative Accelerator Driven System (CiADS) under construction, a 2.5 MW lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) target is planned. In this paper, thermal-hydraulic and structural analyses were performed to optimize the design of the LBE spallation target. As a first step, given other conditions being fixed, the influence of a single parameter on the target performances, i.e., the outlet size, the diameter of the guide tube, the angle of the transition section, and the vertical distance from the origin of the beam window (BW) hemisphere to the upper end of the transition section, were investigated. Subsequently, the multi-factor analysis was conducted by adopting a four-factor and four-level orthogonal test. Results indicated that the target optimized by the multi-factor analysis, performed much better than the original design and that obtained by the single-factor anal-ysis, providing a new approach for the parameter optimization of spallation target. Moreover, detailed analyses showed that the improved target met the thermal-hydraulic and mechanical design requirements.

The iterative optimization procedures described in a previous paper by the author have been extended to cover unrectified light curves of eccentric eclipsing binary systems. Two stars have been studied in detail: namely, α Coronae Borealis and V477 Cygni. In both cases improved element sets have been obtained. Moreover, in the case of V477 Cygni the obtained values of the longitude of periastron for three different light curves are found to provide a useful basis for discussion of the apsidal motion of this system.

This paper conducts the optimization analysis of start-up automation and debugging technology for high-voltage machinery and electrical equipment. In the process of debugging high-voltage electrical equipment, it is necessary to ensure that the voltage rises slowly and steadily until the power supply is cut off when the ammeter no longer changes. If a pressure test is required, it is necessary to ensure that the amount of high-pressure leakage is within the allowable range. Hence, the test with the combination of optimization algorithms is essential for the model building. For low-voltage distribution lines, heat resistance is very important, hence it is highly required to choose appropriate electronic trips and low-voltage fuse to avoid system short-circuit faults, where the novel node model is designed to validate the patterns. Through the testing on the public data sets, the overall performance of the model is proven.
