Taking a separated tunnel as the study background, the combination of field monitoring and numerical simulation is used to optimize the construction method and supporting structure of separated tunnels, and the vault subsidence, surface subsidence and surrounding rock displacement of the tunnel are analyzed. The results show that the proposed optimization scheme is reasonable, the optimized construction method can greatly simplify the construction, and the construction control effect of the optimized support structure scheme is good. The research results can not only provide optimization construction organization design service for Tunnel X, ensure the safety and quality of tunnel construction, but also provide experience reference for similar projects in the future.

The substation is an important part of the grid system, intelligent substation has covered a wide range of characteristics of intelligent generalization, automation system operation, information utilization is the trend in the development of substation, but the Smart Substation in nature did not change the fundamental principle of relay protection, so there is still protective equipment tuning difficulties, limited range and protecting refused to move and misoperation of protection. In order to solve the above problems, the article discusses the characteristics and functions of the protection domain station, and the idea of the protection domain, specific research analysis the station protection domain control system with multiple levels of protection coordination and application of the key problem, put forward the scheme to improve the performance of system protection in Substation. The application scheme of the proposed station domain protection will be used for reference for the next generation of Smart Substation in the future.

This paper proposes an optimization scheme for collocated multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar with a partial low-resolution ADCs architecture. With a criterion of the signal-to-interference plus quantization noise ratio (SIQNR) maximization, we formulate our problem by jointly optimizing the waveform, ADC switch vector and receive filter. Since the resultant problem is nonconvex, an alternating optimization framework (AOF) is proposed. Specifically, the block successive upper-bound minimization (BSUM) framework based on the Dinkelback method is devised to optimize the ADC switch vector and waveform matrix. Moreover, we propose a continuous and concave function to approximate the l(0) norm to obtain a high-quality sparse solution to the ADC switch vector. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes.

This paper presents the development of a dynamic optimization model to manage the generated energy in a micro-grid. The micro-grid consists of the following components: a wind energy system, an energy storage element, a load, and the interconnection to the utility grid. The optimization scheme considers the minimization of the associated cost due to the purchase of energy from the utility grid and simultaneously maximizing the profits associated with the sale of the generated energy to the utility grid. The optimization model considers the dynamics of charge and discharge of the storage element, energy prices and forecasting for wind energy, buying and selling prices and load demand energy, such that an efficient use of energy generated in the micro-grid can be achieved. It is important to include the dynamics of the storage element for the development of the optimization model, since it allow us to store or extract energy in accordance of the micro-grid requirements to maximize the profits. The proposed optimization model serves as an automated mechanism to manage the energy in a micro-grid, which decides the amount of energy to be sent or extracted from the utility grid and to the storage element while supplying the local demand with minimum cost.

Analytical results of the capacitor placement for radial distribution power systems, are presented in this paper. Based on the analytical results, a simple approximate optimal capacitor placement algorithm is proposed. Unlike existing optimal capacitor placement algorithms, the proposed algorithm formulates the optimal capacitor placement problem in a simple form instead of an integer nonlinear programming problem. The proposed algorithm guarantees to approximately reach the global optimal solution, with a small number of calculations. Simulation results of the proposed algorithm on 10 bus system and 30 bus system are presented in this paper.

Peel-off behavior of a double-plate adhesion system

Peeling and adhesion mechanics of slender structures is of great significance in engineering and science. For a complex adhesion system with soft and slender structures, predicting its deformation can be highly difficult due to the nonlinear nature of the associated governing equations. Additionally, due to the unknown parameters in the highly nonlinear governing equations, it is impossible to solve the governing equations by the standard numerical method directly. In this paper, we perform an elaborate study on the peel-off behavior of two circular adhesive plates in the displacement-controlled cases from the theoretical and numerical perspectives. The governing equations of the system are derived using the energy method based on the finite deformation theory. Since there are many unknown parameters in the governing equations, we adopt an optimization-based approach to determine the peel-off radius as well as the motion parameters at the interface between the peel-off region and the adhesion region. The numerical examples in this work reveal that the peel-off radius becomes larger with the increase of the applied deflection ratio between two plates. We also observe that the infinitesimal deformation theory always underestimates the peel-off radius and this underestimation can lead to as high as 10% error in the predicted peel-off radius. Overall, this work proposes a novel optimization-based method to study peeling mechanics of a double-plate adhesion system and can be generalized to more sophisticated cases. The results of this work can also provide some insights for us to understand the peeling phenomena of an adhesion system.
