Optimizing pulse timings and amounts of biological interventions for a pest regulation model

This paper investigates the optimal impulsive management of pest growth model aiming at minimizing the amount of pests at the terminal time. By means of time-scaling and time translation transformation techniques, the gradient formulas of the cost function with respect to impulsive releasing amount and timing of natural enemies are given for three cases such as the amount control, the timing control and the mixed control. Based on the gradient formulas and the designed algorithm, we find the optimal impulsive releasing times and amounts of enemies by numerical simulations. And the mixed control strategy is illustrated to be the best strategy through comparing the three optimal control strategies with the same initial control parameters. In addition, simulations indicate that the optimization of governance policies may increase the periodic oscillation amplitude of populations, but ultimately it will reduce the amount of pests and lower the cost. Furthermore, our optimal biological interference strategies are superior to those in many literatures in which the enemy is released by the fixed amount at the fixed time. (c) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. This research focuses on the design, prototype implementation and standardization sta- tus of persistent non-blocking collective operations for the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard, through functional extension of OpenMPI, an open-source MPI implementation. MPI is an integral tool in the field of parallel computing, providing fundamental communi- cation techniques for large scale computations. Optimization techniques such as persistence (planned transfers) and non-blocking operations (overlapping communication and compu- tation) have been present in point-to-point communication since MPI-1. Similarly, collec- tive operations (communication patterns among groups of processes) have been historically available as a tool to promote convenience and efficiency. More recently, the adoption of non-blocking collective operations into the MPI standard has offered further performance opportunity. For data-parallel and regular computations with fixed communication pat- terns, more optimization potential can be revealed through the application of persistence to these non-blocking collective functions, yet to be included in the MPI standard. Persistent operations allow MPI implementations to make intelligent choices about al- gorithm and resource utilization once, and amortize the decision cost across many uses in a long-running program. This research presents the first prototype implementation of per- sistence applied to non-blocking collective operations, and demonstrates the functionailty of the corresponding APIS. Early performance results of this implementation and examples illustrating the potential performance enhancements for such operations are presented. Fur- ther enhancement of the current implementation prototype, and additional opportunities to enhance performance through the application of these new APIs comprise future work.

optimized routing strategy for complex network with multiple priorities

Different loads in the network require distinct Qo S standard, while present routing strategies for complex networks ignored this fact. To solve this problem, we designed a routing strategy RS-MP with multiple priorities by which packets are classified into privileged-packets and common-packets. In RS-MP, privileged-packets route by the Shortest Path algorithm, and do not need to queue up. Common-packets＇ routes are determined by a new factor BJmax of the network. The BJmax stands for the largest betweenness centrality. By minimizing BJmax, the throughout capacity of the network can be maximized. The simulation results show that RS-MP can guarantee privileged-packets with the shortest path length and smallest delay, and maximized throughout capacity for common packets in the no-congestion state.

Research on tight gas enrichment in coal measure strata is contentious worldwide. Gas logging anomalies are very common in the upper Paleozoic coal-bearing strata in the Southern Qinshui Basin of eastern China. The distribution characteristics of these free gases are closely related to the degree of fracture development. The rock pore aspect ratio (alpha) can reflect the morphology of rock pores and fractures. In this paper, we use full wave logging data to propose a new logging assessment method for tight clastic rock reservoir fractures via the extraction of effective pore aspect ratios. The basic concept is as follows: (1) we extract the rock matrix mineral modulus and dry rock modulus of the rocks using an optimized algorithm, and (2) we invert the effective pore aspect ratio of coal measure strata using the theoretical model of a differential equivalent medium. The research results show that the studied clastic rocks in coal measure strata are very tight, with porosity levels that are generally less than 5%, and sections in which fractures have formed often correspond to relatively low alpha values of less than 0.1. The microfracture-bearing sections identified based on alpha inversions correspond well to the sections with fractures at the core scale. Thus, this method can be used to identify fractured sections at the core scale. For sandy mudstone, microfractures mainly exist in sandy intervals, and alpha is negatively related to rock porosity and positively related to shale content. Regardless of lithology, i.e., sandstone, mudstone or coal, the communication and transport capacity of fracture systems are greater than those of the pore system, and coal-derived gas reservoirs form when there are good gas sources, transportation systems, fracture systems and preservation conditions. Wearable medical systems are prevalent in recent years. Researchers have done enormous experiments and thousands of people have got benefits from them. Wearable medical systems involve many fields, and we mainly talk about blood glucose-insulin control in this paper. The general living standards continue to improve, even though the prevalence of diabetes is dramatically rising. Current methods for treating diabetes is mainly confined to manually injecting insulin for the patient, which is inconvenient and highly expensive. Meanwhile, they are not fine-grained for doctors to accurately control insulin levels, so we try to improve the whole system for blood glucose-insulin control. Wearable medical system for blood glucose-insulin control mainly consists of three parts;Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS), insulin pump and loop control algorithm. CGSM and insulin pump have made great advances in recent years, but we are still trying to find a better method to decrease errors introduced by mechanical measurement. Loop control algorithm is vitally important and complex to study in this system. We introduce a novel algorithm which can better control blood glucose and insulin levels. To optimize this algorithm and solve storage problem, we also add big data analysis to this system. Our simulations are based on real data from 8 patients during 3 days stay in hospital. We have finally concluded that our system performs well. The research of blood control is one part of wearable medical systems which is of great significance.

An optimized phase generated carrier (PGC) demodulation algorithm is proposed for signal demodulation of interferometer. Similar to the traditional PGC algorithm, this optimized algorithm also need to adopt differential cross multiply (DCM), divides the two signals which processed by differential cross-multiplying could get the square of the tangent function of the output phase, output phase can be obtained by the corresponding calculation. The output of the optimization algorithm has no related items of modulated amplitude (C value) and interference signal AC amplitude (B value), therefor the demodulation error caused by C value and B value fluctuation could be suppressed.

With the growing demand for access to internet anytime from anywhere mobile communication has taken a great place. But for this requirement there needs to be seamless communication amongst various network technologies. Hence vertical handover is of great importance in the forthcoming scenario of mobile communication. This paper proposes an optimized algorithm to have seamless communication using vertical handovers. The proposed method uses Fuzzy logic to select the network during handovers while maintaining or raising the QoS. The simulation results show the results using proposed algorithm for handover between LTE and WiMAX.

When constructing the scale space of fast Hessian detector in SURF, using integral image and box filters to approximate the Gaussian second order derivative filters is the most pivotal step. The common algorithm for this is firstly calculating the pixels' sums in each sub-rectangle region of a mask, then multiplying the coefficients and adding them together. This way may cause some repeatable calculations, so the fast Hessian detector's speed is influenced. In order to make the filter process much faster, an optimized algorithm for Gaussian second order derivative filters was proposed. Firstly, the multiplication operators was all replaced by additions. Then, use variants instead of repeatable steps. At last, complexity of the whole convolution process was decreased. Verified by the experimental results, fast Hessian detector based on the optimized filter algorithm was much faster than that on the common method.
