In order to realize the garlic single grain precision seeding, keep the garlic in an upright position, ensure the state of the garlic cloves upward, this paper uses machine vision technology, the collected garlic image preprocessing, image segmentation, expansion, area recognition method to process garlic images. Using the otsu algorithm to segment the image, we can separate the garlic image from the background very well. Based on the asymmetry of the area between the upper part and the lower part of the garlic. The direction of the garlic is identified by calculating the area of two parts. The experimental results show that the recognized accuracy of garlic's direction could reach to 95.33% by using this algorithm. And it can provide technical support for future single-grain precision planting of garlic.

Defects will reduce the performance and the quality of the wheels in different degree. Therefore, accurate identification of defects can separate broken wheels and reduce cost. Due to the uneven illumination and the high reflectivity of the wheel, the images of the wheels taken by the camera tend to produce more reflective areas. These reflective areas increase the misclassification rate of the images in the segmentation process. In order to reduce background interference and make the segmentation more accurate, this paper uses the improved otsu algorithm that limits the gray range in recognition process to segment the defects. The arithmetic in this paper can also speed up the otsu by the dichotomy. Experimental results show that the improved arithmetic used in this paper can find a better segmentation threshold and has good real-time performance.

The cluster number and the initial clustering centers must be reasonably set before the analysis of clustering in most cases. Traditional clustering segmentation algorithms have many shortcomings, such as high reliance on the specially established initial clustering center, tendency to fall into the local maximum point, and poor performance with multithreshold values. To overcome these defects, an adaptive fuzzy C-means segmentation algorithm based on a histogram (AFCMH), which synthesizes both main peaks of the histogram and optimized otsu criterion, is proposed. First, the main peaks of the histogram are chosen by operations like histogram smoothing, merging of adjacent peaks, and filtering of small peaks, and then the values of main peaks are calculated. Second, a new separability measure eta is defined and a group of main peaks with the maximum value of eta serve as the optimal segmentation threshold value. The values of these main peaks are employed for initializing of the initial clustering center. Finally, the image is segmented by the weighted fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm. The experiment results show that, compared with existing algorithms, the proposed method not only avoids the oversegmentation phenomenon but also has a significantly shorter computing time than the traditional segmentation algorithm based on mean shift. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can obtain satisfactory results and effectively improve executive efficiency.

It is significant to detect and track soccer players in broadcast sports video, which is helpful to analysis player activity and team tactics. However, it is challenging to efficiently detect and track soccer players with shots switched and noise caused by auditorium and billboards. And for multi-player tracking how to treat the increase or decrease of player are also difficult. In this paper, a robust player detection algorithm based on salient region detection and tracking based on enhanced particle filtering are proposed. Salient region detection is used to segment sports fields, and then soccer players are detected by edge detection combined with otsu algorithm. For soccer players tracking, we use an enhanced particle filter which we improve the algorithm in sample and the likelihood function combing the color feature and edge feature. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm can quickly and accurately detect and track soccer players in broadcast video. (C) 2017 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

To improve the accuracy and rapidity of pupil location in human-computer interaction, a method based on the improved otsu algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the image is pre-processed using light compensating and median filtering to calculate the maximum between-class variance of the pixels which exist in the image, and obtain the optimum threshold of the binary image. Finally, the pupil center and radius is got by using ellipse fitting. Experiment results show that the method is quite accurate and fast, which laid a great foundation for the eye tracking.

Water extraction has an important significance in flood disaster management and environmental monitoring. Compared to optical sensor, Synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which has the properties of high resolution and all-weather acquisition, has been used for water extraction in this paper. Due to the presence of coherent speckles, which can be modeled as strong, multiplicative noise, water extraction in SAR image is very difficult. In order to extract water from SAR images automatically, accurately and quickly, a novel water extraction algorithm combine multi-scale level set method with otsu algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, we introduced multi-scale framework into level set method. Multi-scale framework is a method considering both global information and local information of the image. The overall structural information of the image can be maintained at coarse scales and detailed information can be kept at fine scales. Therefore, coarser scale extraction results can be used as a prior guide for the finer scale, so that not only are the statistical properties of the signal-resolution image considered, but also statistical variations of multiple resolutions are exploited. Moreover, computational complexity is reduced since much of the work can be accomplished at coarse resolutions, where there are significantly fewer pixels to process. Secondly, based on the multi-scale level set framework, the segmentation result of otsu algorithm is used to represent the initial segmentation curve. Finally, in order to eliminate the influence of buildings shadow and road, post-processing is considered in this paper. The experiments with real SAR images demonstrate the effectiveness of the new method.

In order to apply the research on the disease of lettuce leaves, a new segmentation method of disease image of lettuce leaves was proposed based on machine vision. In this method, the otsu algorithm is used to segment the leaves and background of lettuce, and uses the H component as the data processing basis to divide the diseased area. Compared with K-means algorithm, the results show that the proposed method has higher segmentation accuracy and faster running speed.

The human-computer interaction technology which based on the gaze tracking system is convenient and fast. It can achieve the purpose of sight and computer interaction. Based on the relatively static head tracking system, we make improvements for otsu algorithm to separate the binarized pupil image and the background image completely. I wrote a function to delete a small area that gets a complete and clear binarized pupil image for the existence of small area noise clump. Finally, using the contour extraction method and the three-point circle method to complete the task of Pupil location.
