A pic microcontroller based electromagnetic stirrer

A microcontroller based rotating magnetic stirring system has been developed in this study. A mathematical model is proposed to get electromagnetic field solutions. The magnetic stirring system consists of four-phase half-wound coils with phase currents of lambda/2 radian phase difference to achieve a rotating magnetic field. During the application, the liquid to be stirred is placed on the stirrer in a beaker and a magnetic stir bar in the form of a magnet rod is dipped in. The magnetic stir bar, influenced by the magnetic field supplied by the system, stirs the liquid rotating around the center of the rotational field. An adjustment of the frequencies of the voltage applied to these coils is done through a supply circuit with a developed pic microcontroller. Within the scope of this study, operating principle and the mathematical model of the rotating magnetic stirring system have been discussed. Experimental results for the initial prototype are also presented in detail. Furthermore, parameter optimization for the stirrer is performed.

A pic microcontroller-based system for real-life interfacing of external peripherals with a mobile robot

The present article describes the development of a peripheral interface controller (pic) microcontroller-based system for interfacing external add-on peripherals with a real mobile robot, for real life applications. This system serves as an important building block of a complete integrated vision-based mobile robot system, integrated indigenously in our laboratory. The system is composed of the KOALA mobile robot in conjunction with a personal computer (PC) and a two-camera-based vision system where the pic microcontroller is used to drive servo motors, in interrupt-driven mode, to control additional degrees of freedom of the vision system. The performance of the developed system is tested by checking it under the control of several user-specified commands, issued from the PC end.

In the present work, a simple and low-cost instrument is designed to measure the dielectric constant of ceramic materials using the impedance analyser IC AD5933. The AD5933 is highly accurate impedance converter, which provides the impedance value of the sample with respect to different frequencies. The capacitance and dielectric constant values of the prepared samples are derived from the impedance. A pic microcontroller is used to interface the circuitry of the impedance analyser and display the measured data on the LCD. In addition, the measured data are exhibited on the serial console of the microcontroller. The measured values were compared with standard impedance analysing device HIOKI-LCR *** Abstract

A low-profile microstrip patch antenna has been designed for tuning on a discrete set of instant frequencies. The frequency reconfigurability is obtained by resorting to electrically actuated switches operated via a software-controlled biasing network. A low-cost pic microcontroller is employed to control the antenna operative condition among the available states. Measurements on a fabricated prototype show a good matching with simulations and prove the reliability of the proposed configuration.

This article presents the obvious constraints of using an end-controller to produce autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance behaviour. This system depends solely on the accuracy and precision of the hardware peripherals such as the infrared sensor used in this project to eliminate the noise problem of ultrasonic sensors in most conventional robots. A new approach has been taken to coordinate the infrared sensors In a similar manner to laser sensors. The circular platform design reflects its type of application such as an automated hall cleaning system.

In the recent days gesture controlled devices are getting more attention. There are different types of gesture controlling techniques. In this work, gesture of the user controls the movement of the mobile robot. The developed system is classified into gesture unit and mobile robot unit. The gesture unit consists of pic microcontroller which monitors the movement of fingers and transmits the corresponding control signal to the mobile robot unit. The mobile robot unit also consists of pic microcontroller for controlling the movement of mobile robots. In the gesture unit pic microcontroller is assisted by flex sensors and XBee-S1 for reading gestures. Similarly in mobile robot unit pic microcontroller is assisted by peripherals like XBee-S1 and L293DNE. Both the units are powered up by separate battery source. This proposed system is developed at low cost with better efficiency. It can be implemented in many other applications such as holding the speakers to assist dumb people, toys etc.

This paper presents the hardware implementation of single-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) having selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulated (SHEPWM) switching strategy for producing lower distortion in its output voltage. The metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) is used for framing full-bridge VSI. The switching instants for generating SHEPWM signals of the inverter to eliminate lower order harmonics are determined by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique in MATLAB 2014b software under various modulation indices. The embedded pic 16F676 microcontroller is used to generate the aforementioned pulse width modulation signals from the computed switching angles. The isolation and driving circuits of the inverter are also framed on the same printed circuit board (PCB). This embedded system can be used either in single-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system in home or for integrating of solar energy conversion system at home or single phase vehicle to grid (V2G) applications or in single phase micro-grid system etc.

This paper presents an application pic microcontroller for online monitoring and fiber fault identification in optical fiber communication. For this propose the pic microcontroller is used control any optical switch connected to it. The proposed system architecture is discussed in detail, considering both the hardware and software elements involved. Finally, the benefits and limitations of such a system are considered, using some initial results obtained in an experimental implementation. The system is developed and tested successfully.

Frequency measurement is an important issue in the field of electrical engineering. Electric power system has become complex over the last decade. The use of distributed generation, the connection of non-linear loads and the presence of some unexpected system faults are the main causes of frequency variations. In addition, power quality includes frequency as a most important index. This paper deals with digital measurement of power frequency i.e. 50 Hz using microcontroller based system. This measurement system measures the frequency up to three decimal accuracy. This is generally very useful in load frequency control of power system.

The goal of this project is design and develop an Automatic Rabbit Feeding System (ARFES) using pic microcontroller. The smart system will help farmers to manage their rabbit feeding system become more systematic and convenient. ARFES targeted to function automatically using timer setting in microcontroller for a several days. ARFES divides into two main parts which are hardware development and software development. The hardware part includes the development of prototype and circuitry design, whereas software part consists of development of source code programming. This prototype consists of keypad, LCD Display, pic microcontroller;pellet storage, lever and DC geared motor. The system also had been developing with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) setting to control the speed of rotation of actuator. The keypad is use for farmers to select the delay time and speed of rotations. In addition, the ARFES is not limited to control only one DC motor in the same time but it can be more depending on the source supply to the system.
