This paper aims to present the effects of a pid algorithm controller in a closed loop feedback system. Validation of the results is highlighted by calculating the position of a DC motor in a closed-loop system. The importance of this work comes precisely from the need to test and show the responses of such a system as accurately as possible in order to achieve the desired performance in real time. Over the years, due to the growth of the DC motor market, the need to implement control algorithms and test these devices in a more realistic way through mathematically models has been of the utmost importance, showing also the need for research enterprise. Due to these considerations and, of course, to a technological evolution that contemporary industry is subject to, the need to test such systems is imperative, being present and accepted at the highest standards. Early identification of design problems, repeatability of tests, reduction of development costs and shortened validation process are some of the benefits of this testing and control system.

Modulator Bias Control Based on Bi-pid algorithm for Optical Time and Frequency Transmission

To resist the bias drift of the Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM), we proposed and demonstrated a dither-free bias control method based on the bidirectional proportion integration differentiation (Bi-pid) algorithm. We theoretically analyzed the characteristics of time and frequency signals and made the bias point stable at the null point and quadrature point through optical power feedback and harmonic component feedback, respectively. 726.6 km transmission experiments were conducted to measure the effectiveness of the proposed modulator bias control (MBC) method. The results demonstrated that the stability of the time-sync system with the proposed MBC was better than that of the traditional method in the long-term measurement, whose time deviation (TDEV) was 2.8 x 10(-12)@10(4) s. The frequency stability characterized by Allan deviation (ADEV), reaching 3.1 x 10(-17)@10(4) s, outperformed traditional methods as well.

In this paper, a temperature control algorithm based on parameter self-tuning is designed on the basis of traditional pid parameter control. The traditional pid algorithm is improved to solve the problems of difficult parameter adjustment, complex parameter setting and integral saturation, and to solve the problem of high precision temperature rise in the middle temperature range of various biological incubators. This work adopts pid control strategy and divides the algorithm design into several stage modules to realize multi-stage temperature control. Smith prediction is introduced to accelerate the stability, and parameter fitting schemes are designed for different types of bioincubators. The final validation results of this design are that the overshoot of various types of bioincubators is within 1 degrees C, the steady-state error is less than 0.2 degrees C, and the heating time is within 60 minutes to meet the heating requirements. This paper presents the implementation of the temperature control system of the bioincubator and the experimental verification of its related performance.

The reported digital thermionic emission current controllers use floating voltage sources which produce noise current and consequently decrease the quality of an electron beam. The implementation of digital control in an electron source biasing system without floating sources gives the average value of the electron emission current standard deviation of 0.015%. The described controller has been developed in order to investigate the properties of new hot-emitters.

Linear pid algorithms commonly used in industry might perform insufficiently when controlling nonlinear operating systems. Solutions such as the fuzzy pid controller can exchange the linear pid controller because it develops a nonlinear control surface. The main advantage of the fuzzy pid controller is the ability to adjust to a controlled plant by the rule based modification, nonlinear membership function application and inference rule selection. However, the tuning process is one of the most difficult steps in the fuzzy pid controller designing and therefore discourages most practical applications. A simplification of the fuzzy pid controller tuning process is described in this article. The presented methodology allows fast transformation from a classic pid algorithm into a fuzzy pid algorithm. A proposed algorithm is tested on a programmable PLC which is a typical industrial implementation platform. A temperature stabilization is chosen as the controlled plant and some experimental results are then described. In conclusion authors suggest directions for similar real time fuzzy pid algorithm implementations.

The pid controllers are used in the existed temperature controlling systems. But when the parameters of the controlled object are changed, the pid controllers have difficulty in enabling the two indexes, hyper harmony and the time of transition to reach the optimum state In this paper, a kind of fuzzy parameter pid algorithm is advanced. It can identify the parameters of the pid controller in real time on line. This enables that the controllers can adapt to the parameters' change of the controlled object and it can also realize the rapid parameters' adjustment in the multi points controlled system. When applied in the system controlled by the cellular strip furnace, its control effect is better than that of the normal pid controller. This proves the availability of this method.

Based on the pid(Proportional-Integral-Differential) control algorithm, by analyzing the control system with control variable varying in the form of arbitrary function, a simple control method with control variable varying in the form of arbitrary function was presented, i.e. pid control algorithm with set value which is constant in small zone. The paper introduced the mathematical model and the parameter tuning method of the pid control algorithm briefly, analyzed and the selection principle of the parameters of the advance control, lag control, ideal control. And used the MATLAB to simulate and verify this algorithm, the simulation results are satisfactory. Tests were carried out on different equipments and in different experimental conditions;results of the experiment are successful. Then this method is applied to the practical engineering practice, proves that it makes remarkable effects on the practical utilization.

Under the condition of partial shading, the output characteristic curve of the PV system will show a global maximum power peak(GMPP) and multiple local maximum power peaks(LMPP). Since the traditional method can only track GMPP, the traditional method will not be suitable for partial occlusion. Under the dynamic partial shadowing conditions (PSCs), using traditional methods to track dynamic GMPP will become more difficult. This paper proposes a compound control algorithm that combines improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with pid algorithm. Based on the traditional PSO, this paper uses adaptive inertia weight to make the algorithm jump out of the LMPP and search for the GMPP quickly and accurately. Meanwhile, pid controller is used to reduce system overshoot and make the system more stable. Compared with the traditional PSO algorithm, the proposed method has better tracking effect under static and dynamic PSCs.

New Clamp-pid algorithm for Automated Glucose Clamps Improves Clamp Quality

Background: In automated glucose clamp experiments, blood glucose (BG) concentrations are kept close to a predefined target level using variable glucose infusion rates (GIRs) determined by implemented algorithms. Clamp quality (ie, the ability to keep BG close to target) highly depends on the quality of these algorithms. We developed a new Clamp algorithm based on the proportional-integral-derivative (pid) approach and compared clamp quality between this and the established Biostator (BS) algorithm. Methods: In numerical simulations, the pid-based algorithm was optimized in silico. The optimized Clamp-pid algorithm was tested in in vitro experiments and finally validated in vivo in a small (n=5) clinical study. Results: In silico, in vitro, and in vivo experiments showed better clamp quality for the new Clamp-pid algorithm compared with the BS algorithm: precision and absolute control deviation (ACD) decreased from 3.7% to 1.1% and from 2.9mg/dL to 0.6mg/dL, respectively, in the numerical simulation. The in vitro validation demonstrated reductions in precision (from 3.3%0.1% (mean +/- SD) to 1.4%+/- 0.4%) and in ACD (from 2.3mg/dL +/- 0.4mg/dL to 0.8mg/dL +/- 0.2mg/dL), respectively. In the clinical study, precision and ACD improved from 6.5%+/- 1.3% to 4.0%+/- 1.1% and from 3.6mg/dL +/- 0.9mg/dL to 2.2mg/dl +/- 0.6mg/dl, respectively. The quality parameter utility did not change. Conclusions: The new Clamp-pid algorithm improves the clamp quality parameters precision and ACD versus the BS algorithm.
