The use of Floating Production storage and Offloading (FPSO) units for the production and storage of oil is quite common in deep water. The produced crude oil is normally transported by a shuttle tanker. During offloading the tanker has to keep certain position with a mooring system or dynamic positioning (DP) system. The dynamic positioning system is able to demonstrate excellent performance of keeping the desired position and heading of vessels in the presence of external disturbances, especially in deep water. In this paper, a heading control DP System supplied by Siemens onboard a FPSO is simulated by Oceanic's SML simulation software. The pid algorithm was developed to derive the command load from the ship response (motions, wind force and current load) and then to find the command of each thrusters and controllable pitch propellers. The proposed controller is robust with respect to modeling errors and variations in the intensity and direction of environmental forces. The linking of the SML simulation software to Siemens DP controller is described and simulations to verify the DP controller response to various environment conditions are presented.

In this paper, proportional integral derivative (pid) parameters tuning methods such as Ziegler-Nichols, Cohen-Coon, integral of squared error, integral of the absolute error and integral time absolute error, are compared in terms of settling time, percent overshoot, and rise time on a real system consisting of an L298N circuit, 1.1W brushless DC motor. Atmega328 microcontroller is programmed as a pid controller. Moreover, a brief information about ideal and conventional pid algorithms, tuning parameters, hardware and software of the system that is used is given.

Introduction: Long-term imaging of live cells is commonly used for the study of dynamic cell behaviors. It is crucial to keep the cell viability during the investigation of physiological and biological processes by live cell imaging. Conventional incubators that providing stable temperature, carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration, and humidity are often incompatible with most imaging tools. Available commercial or custom-made stage-top incubators are bulky or unable to provide constant environmental conditions during long time ***: In this study, we reported the development of the microscope incubation system (MIS) that can be easily adapted to any inverted microscope stage. Incremental pid control algorithm was introduced to keep stable temperature and gas concentration of the system. Moreover, efficient translucent materials were applied for the top and bottom of the incubator which make it possible for images taken during ***: The MIS could support cell viability comparable to standard incubators. When used in real time imaging, the MIS was able to trace single cell migration in scratch assay, T cell mediated tumor cells killing in co-culture assay, inflation-collapse and fusion of organoids in 3D culture. And the viability and drug responses of cells cultured in the MIS were able to be calculated by a label-free methods based on long term ***: We offer new insights into monitoring cell behaviors during long term culture by using the stage adapted MIS. This study illustrates that the newly developed MIS is a viable solution for long-term imaging during in vitro cell culture and demonstrates its potential in cell biology, cancer biology and drug discovery research where long-term real-time recording is required.

Design of two-wheel self-balancing vehicle based on visual identification

Poor user experience is caused by the current unstable operation of the two-wheel self-balancing vehicle control system, the high failure rate, and the poor accuracy and sensitivity of the control system (prone to deviation). Therefore, the work studied the two-wheel self-balancing vehicle system with the visual recognition of vehicle attitude. Kalman filtering and pid control algorithm were adopted to reduce the high frequency interference of the accelerometer and the low frequency error of the gyroscope, improve the response speed and control precision of motor to error, and ensure vertical control. The road images were acquired by a charge-coupled device vision sensor with the edge information extracted by the Laplacian operator, which ensures autonomous navigation control of a balance car. Based on the calculation of the distance between road axis and the existence detection of forward obstacles, the early warning mechanism was established through the calculation of the group agent to improve the safety performance of a balance vehicle. Experiments showed the improved control system has good stability, fast walking speed, strong anti-interference, and high security.

Self-Sensing Vibration Suppression of Piezoelectric Cantilever Beam Based on Improved Mirror Circuit

The self-sensing technique allows a single piece of piezoelectric element to function simultaneously as an actuator and a sensor in a closed-loop system. This study proposes an improved vibration suppression system using the piezoelectric self-sensing technique whose usefulness is experimentally verified in a cantilever beam. A single piezoelectric element is bonded to the root of the beam and functions as an actuator and a sensor simultaneously. A mirror circuit constructed with two charge driver circuits is used to pick up the sensing signal from the driving voltage signal. Then, a closed-loop control strategy based on the proportion integration differentiation (pid) algorithm can adjust the sensing signal precisely to suppress the vibration of the cantilever beam quickly. The first mode of vibration is suppressed, and the amplitude of the vibration is actively dampened by a factor exceeding 96.4%. Moreover, the frequency sweep experiments demonstrate that with the pid feedback control circuit connected to the piezoelectric cantilever beam, the Q value of the system is greatly reduced, and the loss factor is increased from 0.053 to 0.288. The improved mirror circuit with pid control has a good suppression effect in the frequency range near the first order mode of the cantilever beam.

Design of MEMS Pressure Sensor Anti-Interference System Based on Filtering and pid Compensation

Due to the inherent temperature drift and lack of static stability in traditional pressure sensors, which make it difficult for them to meet the increasing demands of various industries, this paper designs a new system. The proposed system integrates temperature measurement and regulation circuits, signal processing, and communication circuits to accurately acquire and transmit pressure sensor data. The system designs a filtering algorithm to filter the original data and develops a data-fitting operation to achieve error compensation of the static characteristics. In order to eliminate the temperature drift problem of the sensor system, the system also adopts an improved pid thermostatic control algorithm to compensate for the temperature drift. Finally, it can also transmit the processed pressure data remotely. The experimental results show that the nonlinear error at 50 degrees C is reduced from the initial 1.82% to 0.24%;the hysteresis error is significantly reduced from 1.23% to 0.046%;and the repeatability error control is reduced from 3.79% to 0.89%. By compensating for thermal drift, the system's thermal sensitivity drift coefficient is reduced by 74.67%, the thermal zero drift coefficient is reduced by 66.24%, and the wireless communication range is up to 1km. The above significant optimization results fully validate the high accuracy and stability of the system, which is perfectly suited for demanding pressure measurement applications.

The home-made combers mainly are mechanical. The comber movement system has some complex factors such as strong coupling, multi-changing and nonlinearity. Thus, only using the traditional methods can’t implement a comprehensive monitoring on the combers, and this has blocked the further development of China's textile industry to a great extent. Based on these unfavorable factors, the authors put forward an intelligent fuzzy control method in this paper, and analyze the technological process and dynamic characteristics of the combers and hence establish the control system model for the transmission part. In this paper, through the characteristics and operation flow of the combers, the research and development of the intelligent pid system are introduced. The development of the intelligent pid system of the high-efficiency comber can improve the automatic control technology and also can acquire the considerable economic benefits. Therefore, it has a significant promotion role in the technical innovation of the traditional textile industry.

A course control system of unmanned surface vehicle (USV) using back-propagation neural network (BPNN) and artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm

Course control is the basis of Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) control system, largely determines the performance of USV. Because of some uncontrollable factors such as wind, wave and other random disturbances, the course control of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) is always difficult. In recent years, there have been some studies of adaptive course control system for USV, but they are not precise enough for engineering practice. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive course control method based on Back-propagation Neural Network (BPNN) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm. We use classic pid algorithm as the main course control algorithm, and back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is also utilized to achieve more effective self-adaptive pid control. At the same time, in order to improve the convergence speed and precision of BPNN, we bring in Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm to minimize the error of system and adjust the weight of BPNN. The system has been proven in simulation that it can accurately output the rudder angle according to the input course angle and can perform better than that without ABC algorithm optimization. The error of parameters obtained by this method is within the acceptable range, which can provide reference for engineering practice.
